I contacted several dental offices to find a dentist who accepted my insurance, Delta Dental with VA CHAMPVA. I explained that my goal was to have my tooth repaired. Dr. Yun M. Kang assured me that it would not be a problem and scheduled additional appointments. At my next appointment, the planned procedures were to extract the remaining root and complete a bone graft. When I arrived, Dr. Kang administered the numbing injections. After waiting approximately 10 minutes for the anesthesia to take effect, he informed me that the membrane required for the procedure had not arrived. As a result, the procedure could not be completed, and I was sent home after receiving the injections and being left numb. I was asked to return the following week once the necessary material was available. At my next visit, I went in to have my stitches removed, receive my permanent tooth, and confirm that the healing process was complete. Dr. Kang stated that the area had healed very well. When I asked about the next step, he informed me that my insurance benefits had been exhausted for the year. I had already paid more than $1,400 out of pocket. He explained that moving forward would be my decision and asked how much I was willing to pay. At my initial appointment, the front desk provided an invoice outlining the recommended treatment plan. I signed the document, agreeing to proceed with the treatment and pay my portion upfront. After completing these steps, I was informed that additional costs would be required because my insurance benefits had been used. At this point, I am still wearing a retainer, and my tooth has not been completed. I also experienced difficulty communicating with Dr. Kang due to a language barrier. However, clear communication regarding treatment plans, costs, and expectations is essential regardless of the circumstances. I encourage others to carefully review their treatment plans, obtain all agreements in writing, and ensure that both the patient and the provider are clear about the procedures to be completed, associated costs, and expected outcomes before beginning treatment. You don't send forms to be completed before the visit and then accost the patient for completing them. And you don't lie within 10 minutes of meeting someone and expect them to stay. I showed up on time. I filled out all the forms and talked with the tech/doctor. Margie comes over and says, "You're early." "Uh, I'm here on time." "Well, we didn't expect you to have the forms filled out. So right now, you need to stay here and relax." She pulled my tech away, who then sheepishly came back. "Did Margie say I was early?" "Well, you're not early, but..." "Is there a patient ahead of me?" "Um. Yes." "So you overbooked?" "Well, your paperwork wasn't supposed to be done, and..." She said it would be 20 minutes, but the patient ahead of me hadn't even been seated. I left. If your practice is comfortable lying within 10 minutes of meeting me while shifting the blame for overbooking, there is no way you're touching me. The office always schedules the new patient to check in upfront 1/2 hour with front office staff . Your check in time was 11 am at 11:30 one of the assistants should bring you back in the clinical area to start Your exam, x rays, photo's. checking teeth and gum assessment. Yes ,you were in on time for your check in at 11 am and you were very efficient with your paperwork done. We brought you back before 11:30 which is why I mention that we would be a little longer before we could Start the exam process. I'm sorry if this wasn't conveyed to you on the initial phone conversation about check in Time and when we actually bring you back. We would never over book a patients appointment . We really want to be able to give you and all our patients equality time and earn the patients trust. If you felt that you were "accosted" regarding filling out your paperwork I would like to know what happen so I can address the employee. We always want to treat people with respect . As too the medical trauma that you were mentioning it is of great importants that we take into consideration with the patients medical history before we ever proceed with any treatment on a patient. Lastly I would like to address the "lying within 10 minutes of minutes of meeting me" comment. I believe there was a miscommunication. WE are here to help patients to improve there equality of health which we take very serious. We are and have always been very transparent with all patients and will continue to be so. She then said, oh sorry, it just got taken by an online appt. . I mentioned, I didn't know you could book appts online? Her reply was new patients can schedule an appt online. Huh? I thought to myself a new patient can take my appt I was about to schedule for a tooth that was in pain from an established patient. That just seems wrong to me that an established patient looses out on an appt for someone who is new to the office. It's ridiculous a patient has to wait over a month to get a tooth repaired, especially when they are experiencing pain. After many negative experiences and now my recent experience I can no longer take this anymore. I've recently had 2 calls to reschedule appts as they couldn't keep them for whatever reason. Rearranging my work schedule to accommodate appts only to have to reschedule again. After multiple scheduling and billing issues and a list of many other issues, far too many to list here , I'm done! I was a loyal patient over the years but the loyalty doesn't reciprocate. You're just another name in their system. I have given them many opportunities to improve but I have come to the point to where I'm done and can no longer put up with the lack of care or dedication for their patients.

They were incredibly knowledgeable and so gentle with my sensitive gums. They kept checking in on me the whole time to make sure I was doing okay. I also had a couple fillings done with Dr. Taba after the exam. He was gentle, straight to the point, and I honestly don't even notice the fillings at all. Really solid work. Becky was the sweetest assistant. She offered me a blanket and turned on the massage chair to keep me comfortable the whole time. Small things but they made a big difference. Also, the office view is insane! Gorgeous lake view really calmed my nerves. I was literally watching bald eagles flying and hunting over the water during my appointment.
