Of all the places in putnam, this is just about the only one that I feel as though I'm not treated as a customer and nothing more. The staff are relaxed and treat You just like an old friend You haven't seen in a while. So long as You're willing to take a joke, and open Yourself to the wild things within, then You'll have a great time. Because isn't the fun of an antique store looking for something half-interesting and then learning and talking about what stories it might hold? Jeremiah's has some nice vintage items but like everyone else who has reviewed here, they don't have quite as large of a selection compared to the marketplace next door. That being said though, I wouldn't utterly dismiss going in, or you could be missing out on something cool. They have everything organized and grouped together well, so if you collect something in particular, you'll have a lot of ease finding it if they have it here. read more

Do NOT go on a hot day, or even very warm. NO AC at all. It was 88* and not an enjoyable shopping experience. We drive quite a ways to find awesome treasures but apparently it's never been on a hot day. Many people walked in and turned around and left. I think at 88* that must be illegal for the workers being that hot. I did very kindly go next door to the owner to let her know that it really isn't comfortable and that people are leaving. She shrugged her shoulders and said the landlords wouldn't put AC in. I could be wrong but I think it's her responsibility as a business owner. While she's standing in her AC shop :-/ I do enjoy this shop very much but was disturbed today by the treatment to customers and staff. Maybe a call to the Board of Health is needed read more

Oh lord. I love love love this place! I love going to Putnam for my antiquing needs every time I pay the in-laws a visit in Connecticut. Jeremiah's staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of interesting finds and relatively inexpensive compared to the other antique stores, especially Antiques Marketplace. I definitely recommend this place over any other antique stores in Putnam. Come here first if you want to browse, they are definitely much more affordable in this place. Don't forget their Celebrity Museum (which is free!) on the back of the store. There are original props from movie sets and also costumes worn by celebrities. read more

My friend and I both have mondays off but we also have lots of other things to do on Mondays; appointments, errands, etc. So when we make a date to share one together- we make it grand. We decided to spend the day in Putnam because of its shops and restuarant choices. We went into this shop and instantly went our own ways inside as we explored. I found a pretty braclet. It's tag said $20 with the word lucinite and a question mark. It was a mystical pretty yellowish green but I knew the clasp would be too difficult for me to close alone. Do I buy it, only to add to all my other old bracets I can no longer put on anymore? I decided to ask the man at the counter if this was the final price. He didnt look at me, read the tag and said yes as if I offended him. I brought it back to where I found it. He made my decision for me, I didnt need it. Then I went to look for my friend. Along the way I found an old plastic coated wire rack that I thought was perfect for places my sauce pan covers on. I brought it up to him and took out my money. As he was ringing it up, he said "you went from a $20 braclet to a $3 rack". I was shocked and probably should have put the rack down at that point but I decided to finish the transaction and find my friend and leave. We went to have a nice lunch and I told her of my experience. Together we looked up what Lucinite was (thinking that question mark had something to do with why he got so mad when I haggled with him?). Neither of us were super impressed with what it was that my question warrented his snippyness but I reminded her how I cant put my braclets on anymore anyway so I didnt really care. She suggested we go back and ask someone else. So before leaving for the day, we did just that. I brought the braclet up and asked another man at the counter (the first guy was about 8 feet away). The first man came running over to the man I was talking to and said "She tried to pull that on me about an hour ago". I walked away putting the braclet back on it's shelf where I found it and we left. We made our way to a small shop right next to it that we had missed earlier. They said with any purchase, you get a free card reading (how fun). And I bought a ring for $25. Not to compare myself to the one and only Julia Roberts, but I had money to spend like she did that day but also like her, I didn't feel the love to use it there. I was planning on buying something in Putman with my dear friend to remember our day. First impressions (as they say) are lasting impressions. And both times I went in there, his impression was that he needs to brush up on his customer service skills. He could have said, "No, I'm sorry, that's the best we can do" like anyone else would have and I would have respected that. But instead he took my haggling way too personal and embarressed me. People buy things because they need them or want them but either way- the salesperson makes difference. read more

A couple of years ago I sold a box of Asian collectibles to jeremiah's. $40 or $50 is all I got for them. That was fine because they were all purchased from the mall and weren't old. I paid maybe $20 at the most for any single thing. When I went back a couple of times after, I saw my previous collectibles going for $30-$200!!! These people have no idea what they're dealing with apparently. In fact the Buddha they're asking $200 for cost me less than $20 brand new at the mall!!! I'm disgusted with this shop!! If they thought my stuff was even worth half of that why buy it from me for $50!! I'm talking $3 little figures these people are asking $30 or $40!!! At the mall!!! read more

I've bought tons of LP records at Jeremiah's under new management. Most have played fine. they gave me an unfriendly hassle about exchanging 2 $10 a piece records that looked great but sounded completely horrible with hidden inner groove wear. Buyer beware , they don't let you play test the lp's and will not do returns or exchanges . They said: "we're not a record store". Don't take a gamble , give your business to a real record store, Lesson learned!! Unfriendly staff read more

There Goes The Neighborhood! My family and friends used to enjoy looking around this quirky shop and always had fun talking with the staff and buying items that struck our fancy. I always appreciated their kindness and willingness to work out deals with my young son. Once, they even gave him a Mr. T collectible that made his day. Of course, that always brought us back time and again, especially in the nice weather. I purchased lots of items myself over the years. Today we had the sad experience of dealing with the new owners. No more small town charm or consideration. No more deals made on items less than $50.00. No more warm welcome. We won't be back and suggest you don't go either :( read more
