I purchaed a (what i thought was real ) fur coat for $200. It was merchandised with all the real furs so i was under the impression it was real. Especially since it was $200!! One of the best charity shops to donate to as well as to buy from! The Blessing Barn is a fairly large building that offers a variety of items including used furniture, clothing, kit hand dining room items in addition to toys and other finds. Most if not all items are donated so the prices seemed to be low. I purchased a glass cake pedestal with a dome in perfect condition for $12. The same item at Home Goods would cost $30. read more

This is definitely one of the largest thrift stores I've ever seen!!!! I can't offhand remember how many floors there is to ponder through...3 or 4 floors. Most of the store is made up into different departments.... furniture, China and dishes, clothing, baby, bridal, clothing, kitchen etc. And they even have a bargain basement!!! You could probably spend hours here so thankfully they have a coffee bar with treats which is help yourself and donation based. The best part all sales help location nonprofits!!! read more

This is not your average thrift store! In fact, it is the farthest thing from Savers that could possibly be imagined. Merchandise is beautifully curated and artfully displayed, with objects arranged according to similar colors and special collections (for instance, an artistic collection of baskets and a whole grouping of world travel souvenirs and artisan crafts, from Africa to Latin America). The only display that seemed out of place with the overall high quality were the shelves of partially used toiletry items - like a bottle of hand lotion only 3/4 full...There is even a bridal salon on the top floor, complete with 3 way mirror, raised platform for the bride to stand on, and a comfortable sofa for her support team. Even a bride on a budget can feel like a princess here. The overall ambiance is very pleasant, with relaxing music and a subtle scent of candles or potpourri. There is a bargain basement of small kitchen appliances and other household items, all very clean and well organized. Whole estates seem to be donated here and some items are pricey and comparable to an antique shop - like a full set of Limoges china for $300.00. There were some astonishing bargains as well and I came away with several vintage treasures that were real finds priced well below fair market value. The staff are courteous and helpful. This was a wonderful discovery and I'm sorry I was put off by other reviews critical of high prices. I've been passing this gem by on that account but now I look forward to returning soon and checking out the neighboring bookstore cafe and food truck. All for a good cause. Woah, that was fun. This is a large space with lots of furniture, dishware, clothes and odds & ends. I just love looking for old china pieces in good condition and this place has plenty. Entire sets of dishes, silverware and flatware, vases in a rainbow of colors, crystal glasses, roasting pans, dressers, hat boxes. So much stuff. We started on the main floor which has a lot of furniture pieces, some clothes, china and crystal. Then we meandered down to the lower level which has all sorts of cooking items, glassware and home decor. Back up to the main level and up another flight to rocking chairs and other pieces of furniture. We didn't wander through, but it looks like there are gowns up there too. All in all this was a very nice afternoon wandering through beautiful and useful household items. So many items caught my eye, but I managed to control myself and only picked up what I really needed. There are a couple other reviews on here that I think really covers this place well. I was wondering why there was no one at the coffee kiosk....(because it is self-serve). This place wasnt really my speed of a thrift shop, but I think someone that really likes to browse will spend some time here and have a good time. My daughter enjoyed walking around the barn and I felt like there was a new space around every corner. I did like the bargain basement and I will probably go back there when I have a specific purpose. This trip was for teenager clothes and there didnt seem to be much for her here. However, if you are looking for housewares, this is a good place. Again, I had a good time listening to the music and walking around. I did like the floor that had the records and musical instruments. Prices seem to be slightly higher than your Salvation Army. For instance, records normally will go fro $1.99. At this store, they are $3 and some are $5. Bottom line is that this is a solid 4 star and we will come back with my spouse. read more

Love the vibe of this place but i mostly come for the chairs. This chair specifically is the best chair in the house. Not sure why this chair style is not more prevalent. It cured my escoliosis scistic fibrosis and dyslexia all in one. Highly recommend you sit in this chair. read more

I enjoy moseying around The Blessing Barn once every few months to see the circulation of new items. From when the barn first opened, this place has grown so much. I'm pretty sure they have like four floors now? There is something for everyone. If you don't live in the Mendon area but you love the fun of hunting for unique goodies and you stumble upon this place, you'll be ecstatic. I mean, I get pretty excited when I visit and I live 15 minutes away. The woman who work here are nice and do a great job with the several displays in the front of the store right when you walk in. All items are donations from the public and the proceeds are donated. Honestly, do your homework and find products on Amazon or at Walmart--The Blessing Barn is charging more for all of these things. The Blessing Barn is a blast to explore...but before you dive in, you gotta start out right: There's an adorable cafe inside, to the right of the main entrance. Stop here first because you can help yourself to coffee, tea, and other treats for a suggested donation. I felt perfectly at home wandering around the four floors with a hot cup o' joe in hand! Okay, now we're ready to start. As you might've guessed by the "treats for donations" cafe bit, things operate a little differently at the Blessing Barn than your usual donation center. True to the store's name, all proceeds go back into the community to do good where needed. If that (and a hot drink!) doesn't give you a warm and fuzzy feeling about shopping here, then I don't know what to tell ya! For those of you who ARE feeling the warm-fuzzies, let us proceed... The rest of the first floor is like an upscale home-goods store plus a boutique thrift shop. It has been highly curated, so this is where you'll find the highest quality antiques, collectibles, clothing, and home furnishings. Accordingly, this is NOT the floor to look for steals and deals. These items were donated, yes, but the value of items has been properly researched and the prices reflect their true value. The second floor is smaller and the stairway up is lined with wall art. (If that's what you're looking for, that's where you'll find it.) Once you're up there, you'll find a small bridal boutique, formal wear, and even some furs. The third floor feels like a hipster attic game room. You've got some sofas and armchairs set up around a table and chessboard, shelves of used books, and various music equipment and vinyl records. This seemed to be where all the teens were hanging out during my visit. Are you ready for the steals and deals now? Down we go to the fourth and final floor, the literal bargain basement! While the other floors' displays are highly curated, the basement is a free-for-all. The Blessing Barn doesn't turn away any donations, so if it's not fancy enough for the upper floors' collections, the basement is where you'll find it: throw pillows, curtains, blankets, books, dvds, children's toys and games, small appliances, cameras, holiday decorations, etc. None of it is fancy, but for just a few dollars, you can't complain. It's definitely an interesting place to explore, and filled with that cozy Hygge feel. This place is so cute! My friend and I came here after grabbing coffee down the street, I discovered them through instagram and had been dying to go! When you first walk in it looks like a truly vintage anthropology! The decorations and layout made you want to grab a cup of coffee and a good book and nestle in for the day. There is furniture, clothes, home goods, childrens toys, and a community room- all on the first floor! I will say the entrance on the first floor and the community room are the most homely while everything else feels like an antique store. (Nothing wrong with that!) The second floor was not as big of a footprint. Some bridal gowns and fancy dresses and random furniture. The third floor just opened the day we came- they had a section of albums, some record players and musical instruments. I ended up buying a cute book for my nephew for 80 cents! Can't beat that! And because it was their second anniversary the day we came (totally didn't plan that) they gave us a cute little gift bag filled with all kinds of lovely surprises. Beyond awesome. The community room is an extension of the rest of the store and transitions from one to another almost seamlessly. There's a huge area of sofas and comfy chairs as well as lots of tables. There is free coffee + pastries and I wish I lived closer because this would be an amazing work space or even place to gather a bible study group, or really any group. I read another review that prices were outrageous. I definitely did not see anything priced like that. I was eyeing a pair of cute red pixie pants that were $8 and there was a fun vintage desk for $120. I don't think this is outrageous at all. I didn't look at prices on everything but it seemed fine to me. Lastly, we were able to meet the director here. She was so sweet and told us how this store was started - out of a need the church felt to give back to their local community. If they were able to sell donated product they would have consistent money coming in that they can use to give back, rather than a one time fundraiser. They serve the local community and also overseas missions. In their own community they've started a program that helps families with autistic children as well as other awesome initiatives. Check. I'm so in love with the Blessing Barn. It's four floors stuffed with the coolest things. I mostly buy home goods and kitchen items but they have everything! I've been able to find antiques, nostalgia items that match things my mom had in her kitchen, and a lot of things that are just fun to have like a hotel style ice bucket for champagne brunches! I make the trip a couple of times a month just to explore, it's also self care and distressing for me to spend an hour by myself just wandering and not looking at a screen. Overwhelming in a good way, especially if you like shopping and/or are trying to get lots of home items for a move. This place is not expensive - it's just not priced like a goodwill where there is nothing over $2, but that's fine. There are items for .25 and there are items for a few hundred dollars, but you are definitely saving money by going here and it's going to the community. I found some practically brand new kitchen items here that were only a few dollars cheaper than they would've been in Target. Did I only save a few dollars? Yes. Are they new? No, they are sliiiightly used. But they are clean, look practically new, the money goes to a good cause, and the few dollars you save on each item really adds up. Store was cleaner than any thrift store I've ever been to, staff were really helpful and knew about the inventory, but were never pushy or overbearing. Such great finds. Don't waste your time with this place. The prices are out of control! And it's a thrift store, They take DONATIONS. Bed sets are $400 plus, there are a pair of Converse sneakers for $175. Out of control, greedy, and clearly trying to rip you off. Target, home goods, t.j max, Best Buy, kohls are all within a few minutes of here and have much better things that haven't been used for much cheaper. DONT GO HERE!!! read more

I think the very best thing about the blessing barn is the fact that all of their proceeds go back to people in need within the community. It's a good feeling knowing that the things you buy will also help single mothers, children with special needs, and people with drug and alcohol addictions. It's not every day you get to volunteer your time and we were ready but it's a good feeling that your money goes towards something which helps other people. Separately, it's also a pretty amazing experience when you visit. It may be more expensive than your typical thrift store but the quality is often much better than what you'd find at Salvation Army. It also doesn't smell like a nursing home! The interior design is gorgeous and they have seasonally changing displays and items much like an anthropology or cool coffee shop. That's the other thing! They also invite people to hang out in their community room and have a cup of coffee (they only ask for a donation.) Very cool space, very cool people. read more

when i moved into the area a couple of years ago i found this store and loved going in, looking at their inventory, + i definitely picked up some great finds. it was one of my favorite second hand stores. unfortunately, their prices have gotten a lot higher for a store that sells used items. $12 for a throw pillow? + $10 for a cake stand with a saying written in chalk paint? i could buy those new at a marshall's for the same price or even cheaper. i wouldn't call this a second hand store as much as it is an antique store because of their prices. if you want to find items at a 'second hand' price you'll have a better chance checking out your local salvation army or hitting up some yard sales. read more
