Dr Baars is my hero!!! I had cold symptoms on Saturday and because I care for my elderly father I tested for Covid even though I had no known exposure. Sure enough, I got covid again for the 2nd time in less than 6 months. I knew my pharmacy was closing at 6pm and it was the weekend so I called the on call doctor in my practice at 4:30pm. I hit the jackpot when I was transferred to Dr Baars. She was exceptional!! She listened to my symptoms, concerns and asked detailed questions about my past history and medications. She was thorough, compassionate and caring. She immediately sent in a script for Paxlovid to my local pharmacy before they closed. Thank you Dr Baars for being so awesome!!! Having worked with Dr.'s for the past 15 years, I can say with experience, that Dr. Baar's is one of the best Physicians I have come across. She cares a great deal about her patients and does her very best to accommodate busy schedules, routine medication refills and emergencies when they arise. Her staff is 2nd to none. Here's an example of how she and her staff came to my rescue: As I was boarding a plane at LAX, I was stopped to verify my medical paperwork. Airline policy, (US Airways) stated that medical paperwork must be renewed annually, mine had expired 3 days prior. I called her office and explained the situation to her Staff (Thank you Amy and Jolene!). Within moments, I received a text stating that Dr. Baars had faxed the updated documentation and it was received by the other party. Had I not received the text confirmation, the airline staff would have definitely caused me to miss the flight. I did not ask for a text confirming that documentation was sent. This is just one example of the level of care and consideration that I have received as a patient. I am not a yelper, but after reading some of the reviews, felt inclined to share my experience. Dr. Baars is a perfectly serviceable doctor, but her support staff basically negates any positives about her practice. As other yelpers have noted, her receptionists are possibly the meanest, most condescending, incompetent group of people I've ever encountered. They run you in circles when trying to make appointments (even for physicals where they initiate the call!), constantly run late, and are rude to patients. I had one instance where a receptionist messed up my appointment, then decided to cancel it, but I was never notified. Instead of being gracious and offering to reschedule, the receptionist on duty the day I showed up blamed me for not knowing my appointment had been cancelled on short notice (despite the fact that I had been sent the paperwork as if I had one), and gave me a huge speech about how I should be so lucky to see Dr. Baars and how she was doing me a huge favor by allowing any prescriptions I had with her to be renewed. Why Dr. Baars employs people that a) can't do their jobs effectively and b) think that it's okay to talk to patients that way is beyond me. It's unprofessional and it makes me dread having to come in contact with that office. I wish I could say that this was an isolated incident, but unfortunately this has been a recurring trend. I'm currently on the market for a new doctor; preferably one that has a staff that knows how to do their job and has some manners. read more

I've never had to wait long to see her and have never had any problems with the support staff as other reviewers have noted. She is always patient, kind, and informative. The few times I came to Dr. Baars with health issues, she not only saw me (or my children) right away, but had us seen by a specialist to ensure that her diagnosis was correct. I think Dr. Baars is a wonderful doctor. Not only is she competent, caring, and empathic, she has a delightful sense of humor. I used to dread going to doctors for anything-from sore throats to annual physicals. Because of this, I often just did not go. Now, I look forward to my visits with my doctor. Dr. Baars has an infectious smile, a gentle manner, and doesn't push or scare me into some test she thinks I need (I am old enough to be her mother). She answers my questions thoroughly AND doesn't hesitate to refer me to someone else if I ask a question outside her specialties. What more could one want in a doctor? I also love Dr. Baars' nurse. I'm sorry I have forgotten her name. She is kind and courteous like Dr. Baars, and her needles don't hurt. For those reviewers who have lowered Dr. Baars' score because of receptionists' temperament or negative experiences with receptionists (which I have also experienced), I would say please don't grade Dr. Baars on these criteria unless you're sure she's responsible for these behaviors. In my opinion, this is an "office problem" and should be dealt with by whomever is in charge of setting office values and treatment of patients. I called to make an appt. and was told she isn't accepting new patients. I informed her office staff that I'm not a new patient, I've been going to the office for years. They told me you haven't been in for 4 years, so we've dropped you..... Therefore, your now a new patient and she's no longer accepting new patients. Smart "with-it" Dr. who is a great listener! She is great with kids too. she has been my DR for more than 10 years and through many things. She is 100% solid. She is very very smart but is very approachable. They have worked hard to build a great team and have improved a great deal. Smart, personable, knowledgable and caring, Dr. Baars is an ultra-competent physician whom I have referred many friends to (with excellent results). My daughter saw her through high school and, now, college, and we both receive excellent care. The front office always manages to get us in and the facility itself is immaculate. Nice to have an after-hours urgent care right across the hallway. The nursing staff is kind and willing to answer any questions. This is a great practice. read more

My family and I have been going to Dr. Baars for over 3 years. She is the primary physician for both of my kids and for myself and spouse. I have yet to meet a more professional, pleasant, and dedicated doctor. She always personally calls to go over any test results (even just to say everything is perfect). She is always warm and welcoming. We have yet to be turned down on a last minute sick visit request. Her staff will always say she is booked up but we will leave her a message, and every single time she has stayed past regular hours to accommodate us. We recommended her to 3 other local families and they all love her as well. We have never experienced any problems with the staff. If we can't get a hold of someone we leave a message and our call is promptly returned. Dr. Baars is great. read more

I am very pleased with Dr. Baars and her staff. Every time I, or one of my daughters, has an appointment, we are seen quickly. Dr. Baars is friendly, thorough, and effective. She is up to date and very knowledgeable regarding treatment options. She doesn't push her own agenda or do anything unnecessary. She is kind, flexible, and very patient with my kids and puts them at ease. She never rushes us and answers all of our questions regarding medication, insurance, etc... My blood work and ob/gyn check ups can be done inside the office which saves me time. I am contacted with the results the next day, and get follow up calls as well. I chose to have Dr. Baars care for my mother in law a few years ago. She seemed like a kind, caring and very patient physician when I first met her. My mother in law at that time was wheelchair bound, hard of hearing, very anxious, sharp as a tack, and willing to ask questions. Dr. Baars was always willing to spend the time necessary to answer her questions and be sure her medical and emotional needs were met. Over the years, as my mother in law's condition has deteriorated, Dr. Baars has continued to take the time necessary to care for her. She's patient, always calm, reassuring, and very caring. Her judgement is excellent. She knows what needs to be done to keep a 94 year old comfortable, but also knows what shouldn't be done because it is of little value. I see her in the office interacting with younger patients and children and she seems to care for them with the same kindness and competence. Although at times the phones can be a little difficult to deal with, a visit with Dr. Baars makes it all worth the time. read more

Ok, all you need to know about this doctor is the following: I was there with my son and worried about a lump in my breast. I've never had a mammogram so I casually ask "how do I get a mammogram?" being kind of afraid to bring it up. To say she was dismissive is an understatement. She SO blew me off, barely acknowledged the question in her haste to get out of the office and on vacation. She made some snarky comment like "well you need to be referred". Really? That's all you got? Any competent or caring doctor alarm bells would have gone off -- come see me about this, make an appointment I want to talk to you, why are you asking do you think something is wrong? Also, she has no ability to treat ADD so if your child has that issue, do not go to her. She knows almost nothing about it, certainly not how to medicate. Her office staff is pretty rude as most of the other people have noted. There's just something really....unpleasant about her. Something off and you won't get good care or more accurately, someone who gives the impression that they care about you or your child. read more
