Horrible. Just horrible. I am not feeling well, I desperately need to find a doctor in my area and…read morefast and today, after reading the reviews I decided that Dr. Kissel sounded like the type of doctor I could trust to really find out the source of my headaches and get me back to normal. Well, I did not even get past the person who answered the phone! She picked up the phone like she was answering her phone at home! Not only that I could barely hear her, so I did not even realize someone had answered! I said "hello" just to make sure someone was on the line because all I noticed was that the recording had abruptly stopped. I said hello again because I thought I heard someone respond but I was not sure since again, the voice was was muffled. She practically yelled at me, definitely snapped at me and said HELLO CAN I HELP YOU!? I said "Oh hello, sorry I did not know if someone was there I can barely hear you" I can't recall what she said but her tone was abrasive and she was not helpful, she just sounded like a miserable front desk clerk that hated her job and just wanted to get through with the day! Well, I am a person who is unwell, the last thing I need is a rude person as a gatekeeper to the improvement of my health (I called at 3:14 on May 7th in case the business would like to try to track down who this person is) this definitely had a chilling effect on me and I doubt I would even care to try and call again. I really don't care to deal with mean people, especially if I DO like the doctor, since then I would have to deal with this person more!! I actually asked the person on the phone "why are you speaking to me this way? you sound like to are trying to get me to hang up and all I said was that I could barely hear you." she just said she was only trying to help and she immediately tried changing her voice to a friendly tone. I just hung up. I don't have time for games. This is my health. To the business: I just want to point out that I used to work in a VERY busy, VERY successful doctor's office for almost a decade and the people who answer the phone are integral to the success of a practice! If you need to pay someone more, give them more benefits, FIND SOMEONE ELSE that is possibly younger, fresher and more pleasant who appreciates their job, so be it, it's worth it. The demeanor of the secretary or receptionist is the first thing patients will encounter besides these reviews. It's unfair to this practice to have unpleasant people ruining an experience before it begins. I want to hear an inviting voice, I want to see a smiling face and I want to feel at ease. Wouldn't you?

We all know that most docs that take insurance are all stressing about making sure they see and take care of their many patients. Not always an easy task, especially when docs themselves have bosses to answer to. The whole health system can be hard to navigate for all of us. As such, I did have a miscommunication with Dr Tarpley, through no fault of either of us - just one of those miscommunications that can happen to us all, despite best intentions. Much to his credit, when he was alerted to my concerns he took the time out of his weekend and a special family celebration to call me and we were able to discuss my medical issues. He also made sure that from here on out I know exactly how to get in touch with him. He did not "need" to call me as promptly as he did, but he made the time. That is the type of doctor you want to have. He has a very kind way about him and is a gentle soul.

I saw Dr. Wallis for a couple of years when he was still in Hermosa Beach. He has outstanding…read morecredentials and great reviews. Unfortunately it just didn't work out for me. At my first appointment he described himself as being a medical 'quarterback'. Not being a sports person, I'm not sure what he meant by it but I found him to be more of a middle manager. He'll take your vitals, order & review blood tests, prescribe some basic meds, but otherwise refers everything out. You don't even have to take off your clothes for any appointments - though this can be a plus if it's what you're looking for. My main issue is that he does not perform annual women's wellness exams. He will refer you to a Gyn. My prior doctor of 15 years & new doctor both regularly perform your annual women's wellness exam especially if pregnancy is not an issue unless you specifically request otherwise or have your own Gyn. For basic annual exams there's no real need for a specialist. My question is does he perform prostate exams on men & or is it just women's wellness he's not comfortable with? Because trust me, I don't like that exam very much either but it's a health necessity. If you're a women he may not be the right fit. He was very thorough in ordering lab test before your visit & taking vitals and reviewing them in great detail but he did not really leave time for addressing patient questions and concerns. By the time I got home I always felt that I didn't have a chance to discuss my concerns or he was dismissive of them. I always come in with a notepad to keep track of my doctor's comments & my questions. I did have one concern that I did a Telehealth appointment. He suggested I come in for a physical exam, which I did, but he never performed the physical exam. I was too embarrassed to ask. I came to Dr. Wallis when my primary care doctor of 15 years moved her practice too far. He came highly recommended. I was contemplating another doctor but chose Dr. Wallis on their recommendation. His concierge service was not feasible so I moved to another doctor who is a good fit.

Over a month ago, I scheduled an appointment with my primary doctor after two days of chest pains…read moreand extreme back pain. I went to urgent care, but wanted to follow with my primary, Dr. Hardeep Chohan on Oct 24, 2025. I told her that in the morning I was crying in pain, but my symptoms had subsided after taking the muscle relaxers and pain meds I filled from the urgent care doctor the day prior. I was ashamed to say that I had put off my own health due to a hectic work schedule as the VP of a college, and hadn't been back for a physical or my blood work in nearly 2 years. Since I was there and meeting with her I asked if she could put in an order for me to do my bloodwork and she quickly shut me down. She said "Why are you talking about bloodwork and scheduling a physical? "You are here because of back pain". I was so taken aback by her tone and facial distain. I said to her "Why are you being so rude to me" I then explained to her that since I haven't been to her office in nearly two years I wanted to ask for an order for bloodwork and the last time I was there I asked for a colon cancer screening and the cologaurd never was sent to my house. She got even more furious when I said that the office hadn't sent my colon screening (2 years prior), and blamed me for not following up. I told her that I did call the office to let them know I hadn't received it, and nothing came of it. I once again questioned her tone and asked why she was being so dismissive and rude. She said, "You are rude and talking bad about the staff here". I really couldn't believe her behavior and did say that I was clearly going to have to find another doctor. She said "good" and "we are done here". She walked out. Honestly, it took me so long to write this because of how terrible this experience made me feel. I have a doctorate degree myself. I am an educated person but I was made to feel belittled by her. I can't even imagine someone who doesn't have the strength or education level to feel that they can advocate for themselves against someone like Hardeep Chohan. When I went into her office that day, I was concerned of how I had been feeling the past couple of days and scared considering my brother had a heart attack in his late 40s around the same age that I am now (this of course is all in my medical records that she has). I also had a bad blood panel two years prior and had to do diet changes and return in 4 months (also in my records). I do take personal responsibility that I haven't been back for my physical in 2 years, but this office never checks in or sends remembers and completely ignored my colon screening that was ordered two years prior. After I left that day, I felt terrible. Magically, my colon test came in the mail and I was telephoned from the front desk with my results a couple weeks later. I truly don't want anyone to have to be treated so poorly by a physician.
