Yoga Class: Jen is awesome! I've been going to her classes at work at Atlassian once or twice a week for the past few months, and I've never enjoyed a yoga class at work the way that I do with Jen. She's so knowledgeable, friendly and open. She makes it incredibly easy to push yourself and I've gotten a lot stronger in my practice since coming to her. Jen is incredibly informative and great at correcting postures, my form has improved a lot since coming to her - she explains the feeling of the postures and comes and actively corrects, it's been amazing! I love doing yoga with Jen so much! I love it so much that I wanted her to do yoga for my bachelorette party (but she was unavailable otherwise I totally would've had her come). I used to bench/squat and do weight-lifting exercises regularly, and I stopped for a while because I hurt my back deadlifting, and then my gym closed. I didn't expect yoga to make me as strong as I was when I was regularly lifting, but I feel really strong! I couldn't attempt crow pose at all when we first started, but now I can get my legs off the ground and stay there. And I feel better in general! My mind is constantly running, and Jen has taught me how to focus on my breath and slow down. She remembers people's names, their issues/concerns, and she is genuinely so friendly. She adjusts classes and poses for you and really understands how to set you up for success for really difficult poses. She's set the bar for all yoga instructors I will have in the future. read more

Jen took me from 0 to handstand in 6 months! I started with Jen with no knowledge of yoga or any poses. Thanks to her patience, clear explanations, and individual attention I was able to learn the basics quickly. Jen is also great at understanding the skill level of her class, especially once you go a few times. So the overall workout and specific poses are targeted to the skill of the group with adjustments available based on the skill of the individual. That combination, as well as the overall progression of Jen's classes, allowed me to learn much more quickly than I expected. I jokingly had a goal of doing a handstand, but Jen got me there! Yoga Class: Great yoga instructor and able to work with a very diverse population. Is able to adapt and modify classes/movements for each individual. Wonderful energy that was able to create an amazing community. Jen taught classes in "themes" or "phases" where there was a common goal that people would aspire to accomplish. For example, all the core work and shoulder stability that people would practice every week would someday help people to do a handstand. Colleague: As the manager of the gym, Jen was a pleasure to work with. She was always willing to help me promote whatever program was going on at the time and help it thrive. Over the year that she was here, she was able to create a very strong and tight-knit community. When we had our "Squat Challenge," Jen would integrate hip and ankle mobility into her classes and encourage people to participate in the challenge. In a world where most yoga instructors cancel classes for reasons like their "chi is out of alignment," Jen is incredibly professional and good at communicating. For the few times she needed to cancel class, Jen made sure to inform myself and the members that she was going out of town weeks in advance. Each class started and ended on time like clock work. I worked with Jen for about 6 months of my yoga practice. Jen strikes a great balance between the health and fitness side of yoga, and the spiritual/mental aspect. Jen helped me a lot to work on my asanas, by being really detailed about the technicality of the position. I'm extremely inflexible and have always had neck and back problems due to my computer job. I have tried many different yoga classes and came across Jen's and my search is finally over. I'm not a fan of Yoga. Yes I buy Yoga tops and pants but I just wear them and not for yoga. I tried Yoga through out college years (7AM class, what was I thinking back then?) and fitness center group class (imagine 50 people in the class... couldn't even breathe or move). I gave up on Yoga and I continue buying Yoga clothing so I feel like I'm part of the Yogies. Until Jen's private beach yoga class showed up on my feed, and my best friend was so eager to go and she threw a puppy eyes... and I guess I had to go with her. It was a nice Sunday in October, the weather was a bit chill but not cold. I was walking on the sand and struggling walking our way to the spot. My mind was flighting and seriously debating if I should turn around. "Yes, let's leave! Let's go home and sleep some more." "NOoooo! You signed up for this! DO IT." "Ugh it's yoga..." "Overcome your fear and stop being lazy!" ... things like that going in my mind during the short 5 minutes walk. #dramaqueen With continuously struggle and the class finally started. Surprisingly, all the voices were gone once Jen started talking. All I heard was the instruction and the sound of wave, all I saw was the posture and the clear sky, all I did was following whatever she asked us to do and it felt great. What's nice about the private class was that Jen and the staff came over to correct my postures and make sure I feel alright. It was a very nice experience and totally different than my previous classes. This is my first time taking an actual yoga class and Jen is very patient and always makes sure that we are doing proper moves and adjusts us as necessary. She encourages us to build up strength ( I had no upper body strength when I started out and now I absolutely do) . I took my first Yogini Jen vinyasa yoga class today, and it was amazing! She went at a steady pace, and gave enough verbal guidance to follow along. Her demonstrations really helped to see the precise movements and positions, so I felt sure that I wouldn't injure myself. I noticed she also provided alternate movements for the older people in the class and adjusted people individually, which I thought showed her attentiveness to each person's needs. Jen constantly smiled and spoke with a calm voice, which put me at ease. Even at times when I was struggling, she gave verbal support to let me push through and focus on breathing. I've taken other yoga classes before at Yoga to the People, but I feel like they move through the positions too quickly and it feels more like a cardio workout. I liked how I was sweating and felt sore after Jen's class, but it felt like I had stretched the right muscles and built up my strength. Jen is a great yoga instructor! I've tried different yoga classes before at Equinox & Yoga to the People and never really got into it, but I will definitely take class with Jen again! Jen taught a group class for our retreat, and she was very encouraging and helpful for the yoga newbies in our group. She talked through all of the poses & movements and helped demonstrate for us. I have been loving Jen's vinyasa class on Friday mornings at Moving Arts Studio in Excelsior! Jen is always checking in before class to see how everyone's bodies are feeling and if there are any special requests or injuries. Jen's yoga classes leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I wanted to start doing yoga to help my stretching and flexibility and improve recovery from weight lifting sessions. Despite having no experience and struggling with certain poses Jen made me feel welcome and comfortable and happily helped with any poses I was struggling with. Jen is an amazing teacher! I've been practicing yoga on-and-off for about ten years, but I've never had noticeable results before I started working with Jen. In May of 2015, my grandmother passed away, and I was her caretaker. Prior to my grandmother passing I was doing yoga, but didn't really have that "connection" to my practice the way I could of had it. In May I started to take my practice deeper. It feels like Jen has been there for me spiritually, mentally and physically. With her very caring, and patient heart she by far is my favorite teacher that I have ever had. Her teaching can feel so personal with her style, and her ability to adjust the body if need be and her soothing voice & her healing hands! Jen is considerate and offers different adjustments and challenges to the poses, so that everyone is comfortable (or challenged) according to their practice level. I am so fortunate and grateful that Meyers Nave has Jen Su as the yoga instructor for the once-a-week yoga class. Jen has helped me restore my energy level and especially my strength after my knee surgery. When I first started the yoga class with Jen, I couldn't even bend my right knee at all, it was so stiff. Let me just start and say that Jen is awesome. I've been doing yoga off and on for the past 5 years, never really got very far. Until I started practicing under Jen a couple months ago, and she helped me fall back in love with yoga (and stay dedicated). Not only is she knowledgable with the yoga poses and human anatomy (i.e. she knows the best techniques to avoid bodily damage) but also is wonderful at adapting her classes based on the needs/skills/goals of her students. Every class with her has been different and challenging which is what I'm looking for. Too often have I been to classes that seem to be on a loop or an instructor who only meets the needs of a small group of their students (e.g. the practice too easy or too advanced). Jen is a great instructor and I definitely recommend her. I took her Vinyasa yoga class at square one. She made it very easy for me to follow the different positions. Before the class started she asked if I had any problems with pain. I let her know I have back pain. Throughout the class she modified some of the positions and asked me how I was feeling. She also made sure I was in each position correctly and made me feel good with her positive reinforcement. I've been diagnosed with spondylosis and have had lower back issues for the past couple of years. I decided to try Jen's class primarily for the spiritual aspect of yoga, not knowing that the physical healing aspect would be just as important. Jen always makes sure to ask each student in class of any lingering injuries and if there are areas of focus within your body that might need to be addressed. The class is then modified to your request, with varying poses that Jen puts together and adds to the routine to address your specific needs. Jen has a natural gift of a positive, calm, welcoming, and happy energy that you will feel from your first conversation with her. She has the most soothing voice that always comes with the warmest smile, and she has the ability to teach very effectively from a place of genuine love for yoga and service to the betterment of each student's being. Jen is always striving to improve her classes and has always been there for me before/after classes to discuss what could be done better to help with my back condition. She's been aware of my spondylosis from the very beginning, and has always shown extra care to make sure that my injury is not aggravated. I've been taking her class 3 times/wk for about 3 months now and I could honestly say that my lower back condition has drastically improved. It feels much more mobile, loose, and much more pain-free. In fact, it is those days when I miss my classes when my back starts tightening up again. Jen Su has helped reinvigorate my life because of a healthier back. I'm starting to do more physical activities again because the overall pain and physical limitations have now subsided to a minimum. I just love and adore Jen, for being so calm and having so much patience at a young age. She is my mentor and I learn something new every time I attend her class. Earlier this year, I was having health issues and I was diagnosed with belly hernia. I was scheduled to have a surgery and get it repaired. But I started taking up Yoga classes with Jen at work. After attending a few classes, I noticed that my hernia pain had subsided to almost having no pain. I feel like I have so much energy, I am much calmer, and that I now know how to control my anger, if I do get upset. And this is all because of Jen. She has positive energy and vibes. In my online search I came across an entry for a new studio opening in San Mateo a short distance from our home. I read the instructor bios and immediately thought that Jennifer was way too advanced for me - she had experienced some injuries but she appeared much too young to be able to relate to my situation. However, the studio owner recommended her so I decided to go ahead and at least get a sense of what yoga had to offer. After our very first session I knew what a totally unexpected blessing it was that I had found just the right person to introduce me to the true nature of the yoga experience. The key ingredient for my success is Jennifer herself. First, although she is less than half my age, her own history of chronic pain and chronicle of frustrating treatments far exceeded my own - so she could relate to my current condition on a very personal basis. Second, she is non-judgmental and does not casually dismiss any of my concerns - whether they were physical symptoms or physiological limitations based upon fear of failure or increased pain. Third, and perhaps most important, she has an intimate understanding of the very real and destructive effects of the anxiety and depression that can accompany chronic pain - in my case made worse by "retirement" and loss of purpose. Fourth is her dedication to serving her client's needs and her incredible ability to modify her strategies to address new issues that were only revealed as sessions progressed. That is, she does not insist that a client adhere to a pre-conceived fixed "routine" that is meant to meet all needs. Instead, she works very hard to understand her client's issues and applies her knowledge and experience to select poses that will build strength, confidence and mental acuity. Many times she has had to stop, reassess my weaknesses and incorporate new elements (including non-yoga exercises) that will address those weaknesses before my practice can progress. Finally, her joyful spirit, steadfast faith in yoga, unending patience, unwavering persistence, and resilience allow her to help a person identify long held self-defeating behaviors and attitudes and refocus those energies into becoming part of the healing process. Although I had been aware of this element of yoga, I never gave it serious thought. But my experience with Jennifer has convinced me that this is in fact the most important element of all - that I must dedicate my efforts to creating a paradigm shift in my mindset in order to be able to "accept" my situation as it is day by day, not as it "should" be in some idealized scenario. Peace of mind seems such a simple platitude, but I have a lot of work ahead of me - and I feel so very fortunate to have Jennifer as my guide for the journey. read more
