I absolutely love this salon and staff! I moved to CT from FL in June and started trying to find a salon way before I got here. I have been wearing basically 1000 versions of a long pixie or inverted bob since literally the 90s. I have also had the same hairdresser doing my hair for the past almost 25 years. Out of all the things I considered in my move, honestly finding a hairdresser was the most concerning. I think most of us who have short hair understand this. I feel like longer styles and color techniques like balayage, etc. are more the focus of hairdressers in general in the past decade. I was driving to New Haven for my first few haircuts and while I had done research and really like the cuts I got, the hairdresser herself was atrocious. She talked about herself the entire time I was in the chair, trying to impress me with her wit and musings on life. I was not impressed. But I did like my haircut and enjoyed grabbing apizza every trip. I stumbled upon Jeicoby Scott accidentally due to a poor parking choice en route to Silk City Coffee (also really great- coffee was a close second to hair on list of concerns about moving). That got long quick, let me get to the point! I absolutely love JeicobyScott Salon, it is a whole ass vibe. The have incredibly skilled unpretentious stylists, a bomb receptionist with the best laugh, co-owner who can recommend literally anything you need in the area, and they give you snacks while you're being serviced. I live close to Main Street in Manchester and typically walk it 3 times a week. Every time I do the beautifully dressed mannequin in Touch by J catches my eye. I just turned 30 this year (shh don't tell anyone) and realized it was time to get a "grown up" haircut. Read some reviews, talked to some folks, debated internally for a few months and then finally took the plunge. Let me tell you, finding a trustworthy hair stylist who is going to do an amazing job is harder than finding an accurate weather man. After reading all the reviews I decided to try out. I should have gone for a blow dry first than a haircut. Little disappointed Pro- called in the morning and got an appointment so didn't have to pay upfront to book in advance. Would have been more disappointed if I did that. It's quite spacious and good location. Cons- my appointment was at 2:15 and I was there by 2:08. My stylist was with another customer and she didn't finish until 2:30. It was written that if a customer is late more than 10 mins they can cancel and charge you 20%. shouldn't that apply if customer is kept waiting for more than 10 minutes. Anyways first impression wasn't great. My stylist Monika was very sweet. I could see she was trying her best. All the stars I gave is for her effort. But I didn't like the outcome. I showed a picture and described how I want and it is not even close to that. I appreciate her effort but it's a mess. I wanted bangs that start from just over the eye and sides blend with the flow of the hair. I got so minuscule bangs which are now sticking up. I remember last time I got bangs, the stylist would say that if you go shorter than this it will stick up. Was hoping that from this salon but didn't happen. This is my second time going here and I am not changing my hair dresser. The place itself is such a happy place. They make you feel very comfortable, understand where you need and the end result is awesome. I have been used to mostly straight hair but I want to try something new so asked for curls to see how they look on me. After all the curls I felt it's too curly May be because I am so used to seeing myself in straight hair. I'm pretty disappointed because I had super high hopes in looking forward to an appointment I really needed and they booked someone else in my spot because it's first come first serve, despite the fact that I was very willing to pay the deposit and make the appointment. Having worked in a salon as a scheduler, it's something I can't imagine ever doing, especially considering how seriously people take a hair appointment and I don't really understand why I was told I would have an appointment tomorrow and not be warned at all that it would be booked for someone else. EDIT: I'm going to edit my review to include some clarification in response to the the Salon's response. I knew exactly what I wanted. When I called recently to make the same exact appointment, the receptionist was ready to take my deposit that day. I called with the exact same request today and was asked to come for a consult. Also, I was told on the phone the appointment is "first come, first serve". That was not my language. That was the language of the person taking my call. Corey worked straight magic with my hair, cut, blowout and style for the same price you pay for Ultas "head" stylist, minus the crappy service. Jeicoby was also instrumental in suggesting color ideas that would work on my ever changing head of hair. I've seen many different salons and techniques over the years and I can safely say TouchedByJ is by far the best salon we've been to. Jeicoby and his staff of stylists are talented, reasonable, and beyond reproach. Our first visit was a consultation with Jeicoby. He listened to my wife's history and concerns with interest and offered his professional opinion. He immediately understood her vision and honestly detailed a roadmap on how to get there. It couldn't be accomplished in an hour, or necessarily one visit, but he gave her the reassurance he could meet her needs. I've had my hair cut by Jeicoby, as well as other stylists in the salon, and truly appreciate the time and attention put into a standard men's cut. However, what really impressed me was that in the months that followed our original consult, they not only met, but exceeded my wife's expectations. The atmosphere is fabulous; the staff exceptional. They told me I got what I agreed with, but I never would have agreed to have a bunch of orange highlights thrown onto my roots and brown patches left all over my head. I came here to have my eyebrows waxed. I met the aesthetician at an earlier appointment when she gave me some sage advice about growing in my eyebrows. She is an expert on eyebrow and eyelash care! I got an excellent eyebrow wax and eyelash tint. She is very caring of her clients and very knowledgeable about eyebrow health, growth and maintenance. I already made another appointment with her in 8 weeks to keep my eyebrows on track. The prices are comparable to what you'd pay at a good salon and spa. Worth every penny in my honest opinion. PS. I was privileged to be able to share in the fun as my granddaughter got ready for her first prom. Her mom came upon this salon on Yelp. She was struck by the courtesy she was given over the phone as she requested a last minute make-up and hair appointment. The owner bent over backwards to accommodate us. The salon itself is very well done. The upscale trendy look is right out of Fairfield or Westchester Counties but the warmth and relaxing atmosphere are definitely from parts north. My granddaughter was pampered and spoiled and looked simply beautiful -- yes, I know that a grandmother would feel that way regardless-- but she REALLY looked like a princess -- no heavy makeup, but subtle colors and shading that enhanced her natural beauty and a soft updo with lots of curls. They service all ages and prices are reasonable. I saw one person who insisted she too was a grandma but after a haircut and blow dry she sure did not look old enough!
