Terrible way to do business, JEFF.
Completely and unabashedly UNPROFESSIONAL.
In JEFF's own words, "TAKE IT TO THE OTHER GUY".
THE BASICS:
I politely began to tell JEFF about two specific areas that were not cleaned as we discussed. He didn't suggest a possible solution or compromise. He abruptly and rudely told me to just "TAKE IT TO THE OTHER GUY", which is what I recommend to anyone reading this review.
I have read other reviews of JEFF'S Detail. It seems he is all smiles & rainbows when someone drops off a vehicle. But, in my experience, when it came to addressing a customer who is not completely happy with his work, JEFF had NO BACKBONE & NO INTEGRITY & was just plain UNPROFESSIONAL.
THE "DETAILED" STORY:
I routinely have my vehicle detailed 2-3 times/yr.
My previous detailer (not local) always returned it looking like new inside and out...I'm talking q-tips&toothbrushes quality.
Every speck of dirt, grime, dog hair, tree residue from being parked outside was always completely removed. I was happy to pay my previous detailer (less money than JEFF charges), plus a generous tip.
I took my Jeep to JEFF's, showed him specific things I thought might be overlooked + some areas that needed extra attention (applying multiple coats of silicon treatment to the rubber seals and moldings). I said I was in no hurry & he could keep it as long as needed. He assured me it would be ready the next morning. He was friendly, accommodating &made me feel confident in my decision to try his business.
When I picked it up, his employee made excuses as he showed me the dog hair still on the upholstery, the green residue around the window seals & on the front & back of the side mirrors, etc. I figured the employee was being truthful that these things were not cleanable beyond their current condition.
I was in a hurry, so I did not thoroughly check their work. But it did look better than when I dropped it off, so I rushed back to JEFF's office to hand him a $20.00 TIP!
I had to leave town for the next two weeks & I drove my other car to get better mileage. When I returned, I had a chance to really check JEFF's work and I was more disappointed than before.
WHAT WAS NOT DONE SUFFICIENTLY...pretty much everything more in-depth than a teenager would to do for $30:
NOT DONE: Basic things like removing the rubber cup holder insert in order to clean the area underneath it, then, obviously, washing or spraying with a hose the actual rubber insert itself, before putting it back in place.
The window was smudged, not just a little, but a big huge smear. I noticed this when I initially picked it up at the shop, but figured it wasn't a big deal and I could just clean the window myself.
The control buttons for windows, locks, radio, heater, etc appeared to have been ineffectively wiped with a dry towel.
Maybe JEFF only provides rags for interior cleaning, definitely no Q-tips or toothbrushes used in this shop.
NOT GOOD: Dog hair still on upholstery. The part of the tailgate behind the exterior-mounted spare tire was completely dirty...just dirt & grime that anyone could easily reach with a cloth or brush or hose.
STILL DIRTY: The area exposed when the tailgate and back hatch window are open...the door jamb. Come on!
That's basic car washing technique 101, & JEFF's FAILED.
NOT DONE? As for the silicone lubricant for the rubber seals & moldings?
I can't imagine they got any attention at all, much less multiple coats, as I was assured would be done.
I won't list every little, thing JEFF's DID NOT DO, as I'm sure the message is clear.
Because I dont want to be the customer who can't be satisfied, I figured I, myself, would eventually just clean the areas that JEFF's DID NOT, but I also decided to go to another detailer for a second opinion.
The OTHER DETAILER told me I was definitely not being too picky, & all of the things I wasn't quite happy with should have been done right the first time. This other detailer said a reputable business with any sense of integrity (not his exact words) would offer to remedy the situation, either with a partial refund, a discount on next service, or another short visit to complete the work and gain a repeat customer.
I didn't plan to ask JEFF to redo everything written in this review. I can clean a window, cup holder, dashboard controls. I can clean a door jamb, vacuum dog hair off the seats. The main things I did want him to fix probably would have taken him sixty to ninety minutes & saved him from this negative review.
So, I made the follow-up phone call to JEFF. I was not angry or upset, and i was in a great mood. I was hoping he would give me everything I asked for, but prepared to get none of it.
What I was NOT prepared for, was to be interrupted after telling him of only two areas that were not done well, & then, and I am not kidding or exaggerating, he literally told me to "TAKE IT TO THE OTHER GUY".
As you wish, Jeff! read more
