Part of the way home, we spotted the Twitchell House on the left side of route 30 as we were motoring South. The Twitchell House is seriously an entire house (and barn and tent and yard) full of antiques. We probably spent two hours poking through all the rooms, digging up all sorts of neat little trinkets. GF got a soldering iron shaped like a pistol and some funky tins. I got a mid-century cake tin for a baker friend, an old glass ink well, a set of 1920s fake pearls, a 1940s black fox muff that I am so excited to rock the hell out of this winter...I think that's all I got...but it definitely wasn't all I wanted to get. The owners are also pretty awesome, and super chatty. They love their collection and they've carefully labeled everything in the building. If you're ever in Southern Vermont looking for an adventure, this is definitely a worthwhile stop.

She did say that she usually doesn't do rugs, but that she got these on a gut feeling. They are in tough shape, and in need of a good cleaning, but they were a CRAZY good deal and exactly what I was searching for. If I were opening a restaurant or a boutique, or just looking to furnish my place, I would schlep up here as my first stop.

People come from as far away as Connecticut and Boston to search for treasures The vendors are an eclectic cast of characters with wares ranging from antiques and junk to produce and baked goods. The days we visited there were about 25 dealers. Haggling is encouraged but these guys are pros. You want to get there early on Saturday to get the best selection of treasures. Sally, who run the market with her family, is friendly and keeps things organized. The restrooms are clean with plenty of hand sanitizer and flowers. There is plenty of parking as well. The coffee at the food trailer is good, we did not try the food.

Why can't the market return to this rather than increasingly represent the division, hate, and violence in the US?

Be sure to look at everything before hand, we bought a bookcase for $75 then when we picked it up noticed that the back was falling apart. I don't believe most of the auctions have a reserve but I can't say for sure, in some cases they have gone down to $1 for a piece of furniture . The speed is pretty quick so you need to pay attention or you may miss the item you want. Some of the people that work here take it upon themselves to describe things to the nth degree when they bring them up but should really just stick to holding things .

They had some interesting items, but not really competitive with other shops like we found in Antique Alley (New Hampshire) or on Route 101 (New Hampshire). Moreover, the goods were seriously overpriced. We have found many better deals and equal or better quality at many of the shops mentioned previously. Being antique dealers we certainly know how to pick. Will return to Route 1 (Maine) and elsewhere for what we need.

There's no alcohol in the maple syrup, but the maple syrup is aged in bourbon barrels giving them a deliciously strong aroma that is bound to delight any whisky or bourbon fan. We heard today that Brent is getting a new sugar house. The old one was in need of repairs. I'm excited to see what he is able to produce in his new sugar house. Lorraine also does a tremendous job curating her store and bringing together very cute Vermont-themed or country home themed items. It's easy to find a gift for anyone here.
