We stumbled into this cool place while walking around Manchester today. They seemed to have a really extensive amount of items. The reason I'm giving them 2 stars? The person working there obviously didn't want to help us. We never got a hello or goodbye. I was there with my 15 year old son who asked about a better price on something. The guy barely looked up from his laptop to answer my son & tell him no. It would seem in today's economy; a sale is a sale even if it was just $20. Awkward -- you actually remember us from TWO years ago when you barely made eye contact with us ?!! In terms of not being welcome at your shop -- no worries. read more

Searching for that unique item with nostalgia, a bit of history, kitschy, funky or up-cycled? Then this is your spot. The up-cycled pieces are my favorite; practically anything is made into a lamp, or stool, or a wine cork, or just ornamental. All types of nuts and bolts and hardware, Old snowshoes, baseball cards, leather buttons, colored bottles, books, gauges, antique skis, wooden ladders, so many things with a dual purpose. Each time I've come in the owner is present- he's a bit like his shop and quite knowledgeable if not slightly impersonal. This shop is on the main street in the small town of Manchester, VT. It is run by a slightly eccentric man who shares his opinion freely. We have been in a few times during our trips here from the West. This time we bought two lamps and a bunch of small stuff. As we live in Utah, we asked if the items could be shipped. The owner said yes, and gave us a price. We paid for everything, and enjoyed the rest of our trip. Once home, I realized after about three weeks that we still hadn't received our purchases. I phoned and was told that our address had been misplaced, so I gave it to him again. 10 days later I still hadn't received anything, so I phoned again today. He told me that the first box shipped out last week, and the final box shipped out today. Today was almost exactly one month from the date of purchase. I don't quite understand why it took so long to get our items shipped. As for the owner, as I said, he is not a shy man, and speaks his mind freely. He will most likely "unwelcome" me now to his shop as he has done to others leaving less than glowing reviews. So be it. read more

Nice stuff, AWFUL service! Never order anything by mail from them -- I bought an expensive lamp a few weeks ago and had them send it to Philadelphia so I wouldn't have to tote it around on vacation. The lamp never arrived, and not only does Green Peak refuse to make good on my transaction -- they've been surly and dismissive when I've sought help. Better name for this place might be "Fit of Peak". read more

Another reason to skip the outlets -- see what you can find here instead. One of my favorite shops in Manchester, well since Wessner's closed anyway. I've picked up tools, lights, albums, books, and even a gift or two over the years. Great shop for collectors (of anything) or when you're finishing off your ski home and want some Vermont memorabilia. Every item has a story and if you don't see it just ask, I'm sure he's got it somewhere. read more
