After navigating the piles of tipped-over trash and fire-hazard aisles for 45 minutes (please investigate this, fire code people!), I decided I wanted three things from three booths : two comics and one children's book. What a f---ing mistake. If you're the guy who owns the booth of comics and tapes right by the entrance, most of your prices are absolutely stupid. Nobody is going to pay $25 for a VHS tape of Snow White; it is literally one of the most common tapes in the world and worth about 25 cents. MOST of your tapes were moldy. Half of your stuff had no prices, and oh lord, let me tell you why that's a HUGE problem. You have no idea what you're doing. Nut up and buy some more price tags, buddy. We bring our selections to the front counter and this is where the fun begins. The woman disappears with our stuff and no explanation; a couple of minutes later, she returns with woman #2 and we can guess from their whispers that they do not know what to charge for anything. They proceed to, I guess, try to contact someone to figure out the prices. I believe they were trying to contact comic booth guy for all three things, though only one was his, and it had a price. It gets weirder from here. The children's book we picked up was a very cheap paperback picture book of a few pages. It was not antique or special in any way; we expect it to be about a buck at most. She decided it was TEN DOLLARS. She also decided to belonged to the wrong booth and started labeling it by putting. sticker on the cover... so if you sell here, let me tell you, they are mixing and matching items, probably giving the money from your stuff to someone else, and defacing your stuff with stickers. (Later, I checked both Amazon and eBay prices, in case I truly missed something, and the book sells for about $4, free shipping... so basically a dollar. I still cannot discern where she came up with her asinine price.) We declined to pay $10, because that's just stupid. I've been buying and selling collectibles for 20 years so I know what I'm talking about. Next up was a bagged comic with a very clear $2 price tag on it. Woman #2 decided it was NOT a comic after all, and also decided it was signed... because the artist's name was part of the cover, like 90% of comics. It was not "signed". She thought it was a poster, I guessed from her mumblings... but it was just some weird small-press indie comic from the 80s that you'd find in a dollar bin, because that's what it's worth. She decided that the price must be wrong because she's never seen a comic in her life. Item #3 was another comic... slightly larger format, but very thin and also super niche and non-collectible. Similar to a very thin magazine. She ALSO decided that this was not a comic... even though this came from a booth where there was a sign that said all unlabeled comics were $3. She decided this was not a comic either. We waited for at LEAST ten minutes while Woman #2 tried to figure out prices, but after hearing $10 for a nothing book, and standing around like idiots while nobody communicated what was going on, we just walked out. I was willing to pay 2x of actual value just because we drove 2 hours to get here and didn't want to leave empty handed. NOT TO MENTION that switching prices at the register in NY is illegal. IF YOU VEND HERE, STOP. These women are costing you sales. They are ACTIVELY refusing to sell stuff for your labeled prices because they think they know better. I can only imagine how often this happens if this happened to all three of our items, from three different booths. You are paying rent to a place that has no idea what they're doing. They've seen a few episodes of American Pickers and think they're experts or something. You are not getting your money's worth and they are sabotaging you by refusing sales and mixing your items up. PLUS, the whole place reeked of woodsmoke. We left there after 45 minutes and it was clinging to our clothes, so anything you're selling here is ruined with smoke smell. Do not waste your time visiting here. Prices are 4-10x above actual value. You could buy from eBay and pay shipping and still pay less. There's a lot of interesting things to see.... so if you have to go, just take pictures and buy it from someone online. There is absolutely no value here. Get your s--t together. You have been a blight to my weekend, and you are a gross smear on the face of what fun thrifting has become.
