He did an excellent job in evaluating my vision needs. Including pointing out an element of double vision that had not been corrected in my previous eyeglass prescription. There is an amazing amount of state of the art optical equipment in the office. Dr. Kelsch and all of his staff are knowledgeable in how to use the equipment they are assigned to use within their level of training. The staff documented the physical elements of my eyes and Dr. Kelsch did the visual examination to write the prescription for my glasses. Just like medical office staff uses basic equipment like blood pressure cuffs and pulse oximeters to relate basic physical characteristics to the doctor before he examines the patient. The doctor, the front office staff, and all of the employees in the office are extremely polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I have very high confidence in the doctor, the equipment, and all of the staff.

The information hadn't been entered into the computer. So every time I called I got a run around. And given another number to call. I know mistakes happen causing people to fall through the cracks. Looks like I have to run into the office AGAIN on Tuesday. Although someone called me and left a message to call back to schedule a consultation with an ophthalmologist, when I called back no one had any idea what I was talking about. I do want to say the surgeon who did my cataract surgery was fantastic. And would like to get this procedure done as quickly as possible, the floaters and white flashes aren't pleasant. MORE TO COME...

My husband has had 3 appointments with Dr. Clement Chan at Desert Retina Consultants in their Palm…read moreDesert office. Unless you are retired and have nothing else to do for the entire day, I recommend asking for a referral elsewhere. Dr. Chan consistently runs 1.5 to 2 hours behind schedule....and I am NOT exagerating. The first visit, the doctor did not see my husband until 2 hours after his appointment time. The second visit...he was only running behind by 1.5 hours. In our last visit....he was running a full 2 hours behind schedule. The appointment was at 10:00 and the Dr. didn't see my husband until just after 12:00 p.m. No once did he acknowledge or apologize for the delay. When I asked the front desk each time if he was running behind....I was told that he always runs behind schedule. That the problem isn't the doctor's schedule...but a lack of adequate screening rooms. I'm a recruiter. If I have to schedule 10 interviews...and all interview participants are available...but I only have 5 rooms...I only schedule 5 interviews. This is not difficult, people. The front desk told me that Dr. Chan "runs his office this way"...and they were totally dismissive about it. I requested the next appoinment be scheduled early morning. They confirmed the doctor starts at 8:00...but refused to book me before 10:00 for the next appointment. The only reason I've not told them to take a flying leap is that my husband is mid-way through a specific treatment. So, we will have to deal with this a little longer. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE SITTING IN A WAITING ROOM FOR AT LEAST 1.5-2 HOURS. THIS IS THE WAY DR. CHAN RUNS HIS BUSINESS ACCORDING TO HIS STAFF. STAFF NOR THE DOCTOR GIVE A FLYING LEAP ABOUT THE PATIENTS INCONVENIENCE.

Knowing it was an emergency, I drove mid-day to their PS office to find it locked up and dark and then drove to Palm Desert. I described all my symptoms which isn't rocket science when you've gone through it before, and they nicely told me they would not see me without a referral from another ophthalmologist. Their "policy" damned an emergency. Not having been to one in this city, they gave me a couple names including one in their neighborhood. I did go to that one, Dr. Le and they begrudgingly took me in and their Dr (with personality of a door knob) confirmed in five minutes that I had a detachment. Since it was before 3:00 in the afternoon I hoped they could refer me back to the retina consultants office a block and half away. NO. They were too busy that day for any emergencies and had no appointments the next day, and the next available appointment was more than a week away. The only other retina specialist supposedly in the area was not open. The ONLY option they gave was to drive an hour away to Loma Linda University Medical Center ER where they had a specialist on call. NOT true. Only an ophthalmologist resident on call. Thank God that after literally all night in their ER I was discharged and the resident set me up to see their retina team first thing in the morning and I was in for surgery by 9:30 am. Screw Desert Retina Consultants and their care less attitude toward emergencies. Don't expect me to ever call on them again. I know enough about detachments to know that they are emergent situations and that some times they are now or never if not treated in time. I guess I'm also disgusted that there aren't enough specialists in the Coachella Valley if they are telling me there are only two offices in the entire valley. Shame on them for forcing me to go waste Medicare and my money to go have one of their colleagues see me first to say what I already knew.

But, many weeks later I received a text message from Milauskas claiming that I owed more. That's where the trouble began. I called Milauskas but their 'billing' department never picked up the phone-- and I called several times throughout the day. I was finally able to speak to someone who was probably at the front desk. She was unable to explain why the insurance company didn't pay the balance. She did admit that Milauskas was using a new billing company -- which explains why I got the text message. Despite this, I haven't receive an invoice in the mail. Meanwhile, I reached out to the insurance company for clarification. Instead of waiting for the insurance company to settle or resolve the bill Milauskas then sends me another annoying text message about the bill. Suffice this to say, this is very annoying. I am disappointed with this outfits billing practices. If I am responsible for the balance, then I will pay it. Regardless, I will never go to Milauskus again. I am also investigating whether I have legal remedies against Milauskus and their 'billing' company for the unwanted text messages and billing practices. The owners of Milauskus should seriously consider the business and legal implications regarding incidents like this.
