When the day finally came to the surgery I felt very prepared and knew exactly what to expect. The surgery when well without any issue. My surgery was about a year ago now and I have had no problems. The Atmosphere / Equipment: The office has a professional feel, nothing out of the ordinary. It is very well kept. They have some very fancy pieces of a equipment, like one that will map your eye to further customize the vision correction. I would highly recommend this office for any one for just normal yearly eye exams to more complex problems.

My Story: Purchased glasses for about $700 that were defective - Stem end kept coming off. Had to call 3 weeks after order, but they had forgot to order. Came for help and they "fixed" saying "that's the best we can do". I kept pushing the ends on when wearing. Finally lost a stem end, went in and they put what they had (didn't match glasses) on the stems, paid $60 and they were to order replacement, and call when in. 90 days later not hearing, went in. "Don't know what happened, they were ordered... frame no longer available, will ask manager to call and decide on a new frame, likely will need new lenses as well." Again no follow up, I call and an associate calls back and tells me that they didn't order as my glasses were past guarantee date when stem end was lost. Will refund my $60 and I should come in and BUY new glasses. Will give me a discount. How much I ask? Don't know, you need to come in, pick a frame and order and then we will tell you. Maybe 20%. Seems I wasted $700 dealing with these folks. Going elsewhere that cares.

After an exam and consult, I was moved to an "educator." This person goes over and explains the different lens "options" and their cost. I had NO idea that the surgery offered lens options that would "enhance and/or correct" my vision (aside from the cataracts themselves.) The staff was enthusiastic and thorough in explaining the options. Unfortunately...the results I was told to expect have not been realized and will NOT be realized without a 2nd procedure and additional $$$. I became animated and agitated because this absolutely would have changed my thinking on lens options and surgery altogether. I was NOT given all of the information I needed to make a decision regarding long term permanent solution. This 2nd procedure was described to me by Dr. Ackerman as a little "trick" or "tweak" that took only 10 seconds. I'm sorry, but please do not describe making an incision on my eye as a "trick. "He brushed off that I wasn't told in advance. No one on staff denied my concern. They only minimized it and continued to ask if I wanted to schedule the surgery or not. NOTE: This package treatment plan came with a guarantee that if needed, LASIK/LRI at no cost if needed *after cataract surgery. Of course, that's "not what I need" according to the staff. But it's free if that's what's needed. I cannot see my children in the pool...I Cannot read street signs...I cannot read the channel guide on my television. I am out a considerable sum of money and have nothing to show for it and have received a notice of termination of the physician/patient relationship. ALL OF THIS FOR A "10 SECOND "TRICK"

Was not told there would be an additional charge for him to do this, otherwise I would have declined. Charging patients for services without disclosing costs (or the potential for additional cost) is not a way to do good business. Be careful if you use this practice.

Even as busy as he is, Dr. Givogre will always stop and answer any questions you may have as well as pray with you before a procedure, all you have to do is ask. I also love that he owns his practice and isn't with some large group of doctors or a corporation. It keeps it all on a personal level instead of feeling like a number. I would never go anywhere else!
