Service and quality is questionable. Cost is high, staff are novices. I will look for other optometrists. No one answers the phone.

I never write reviews, but my goodness, Thomas Eye Group in Hamilton Mill has the most…read moreunprofessional doctors and assistants. I was surprised at the level of disrespect Dr. Dale Anderson showed me. He does not care about you as a patient, and he became incredibly rude and hostile when you advocate for yourself. Stay very far away. To make a long story short, my first exam was $228.69 because they charge all of these different fees for non-dilation, contact fitting fees, etc. I don't mind paying that the first time (even though none of it is disclosed ahead of time), but they got my vision completely wrong in my right eye, and I had to call them multiple times to get it updated as I was getting headaches from having one eye wrong. They are incredibly stingy with their trial contacts and gave me one pair to try. That one pair was too dry and uncomfortable. I called to see if I could try a different trial pair, and they were rude and reluctant. I actually had to go online and order a box of 30 contacts at full price to "try out" because my eye doctor would not help me. Think about that for a second. So then, I go in again today, and I have never seen more disrespect from a doctor in my life. I'm talking about visibly angry with you and hostile. He walks in and rudely says "pick one" and told me he would not let me try any more contacts. He then says "you have tried three types; if those don't work with your eyes, nothing will." Are you joking? I could not believe how unprofessional he was. Your job is to assist me in attaining better vision, and you are going to be that rude and unhelpful. He also said some other things that I will not list online. That being said, I have been to other eye doctors that assist you in the process and want you to have the most comfortable vision experience. I have actually been to an eye doctor in a third world country for a vision issue that was nicer than this doctor. Thomas Eye Group is disrespectful and spits in your face. I will never set foot in this practice again and will be reporting them to the BBB and other third-party sites.

I've called multiple times, and each time I was told someone would return my call--but no one ever did. They also refused to let me or my insurance company speak with anyone in management to help resolve the issue. On the day of my visit, the financial office staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. I asked them repeatedly to contact my insurance provider to verify my coverage, and they flat-out refused. At first, they tried to charge me $150 out of pocket without checking any of my insurance details. I continued to ask them to verify the charge with my insurance, and only then did they suddenly lower the fee to $45--without explanation. This experience was unacceptable, and I do not recommend this office to anyone who values honest communication, transparency, or basic customer service.

Upon…read moreproviding his updated insurance, he was told everything was in order, and his appointment proceeded as scheduled. However, during the appointment, the doctor informed him that they were out of network with his current eye insurance. Despite this, they assured him that his medical insurance would cover the costs, which he agreed to, as they claimed it would be no issue. Upon leaving, he was told that the cost could range from $15 to $400. As expected, the medical insurance did not cover the expenses, leaving us with a $400 bill. I have called four times to speak with someone about this issue, and each time I was promised that someone would reach out. Two months later, I have not received any follow-up. This experience has been frustrating and dishonest. While it's one thing to make a mistake and overlook updated insurance, it's completely unacceptable to mislead a patient by saying something can be filed through medical insurance when there is no valid medical diagnostic code just to avoid a scheduling gap. Most people do not have the luxury of hundreds of dollars in disposable income, and at the very least, deserve a call or email in response to concerns. Having worked in the medical field, I can confidently say this is not how you treat patients. It's extremely frustrating and feels downright shady. With so many options in the Atlanta area, I strongly recommend avoiding this office at all costs.

The two main areas of concern are first, at every follow-up exam, they insist my vision is perfect. It isn't. They keep exclaiming my vision is 20-20, and refuse to listen when I tell them I can't see clearly out of my left eye. I know it's the astigmatism, but they don't seem to care. It's aggravating to not be heard. Second, at one of the exams, my doctor recommended a "clean-up" laser procedure. She assured me it would be no cost, so I agreed (it neither helped nor hurt my vision). I was surprised a month or so later to get a bill for what insurance didn't cover. I appealed the bill, and was told I hadn't met my deductible. I know this is a lie because neither Medicare nor my secondary insurance have a deductible, and my husband had the exact same surgery and follow-up laser procedure, yet he never received a bill, even though we have the same insurance and have both gone to the eye doctor the same amount of times. Someone in their billing was too lazy to fix the issue (or didn't want to admit they were wrong). I find that to be a sketchy business practice. I do not recommend the North Georgia Eye Clinic.

DR. ROUW IS A LIFE-CHANGING PHYSICIAN!…read more I had the absolute pleasure of having an evaluation with the spectacular Dr. Rouw, and after 27 years of suffering with random bouts of blurry or double vision, severe eye strain, and persistent migraines, I finally have the answers to resolve long-standing vision issues I never found relief from. After suffering a second and extremely debilitating concussion last winter, my vision problems became thoroughly exacerbated. Even reading lettering and text on screens and in books, as well as even focusing on objects up close or in fluorescent lighting had become so increasingly difficult to the point I would experience daily migraines without knowing the source or experiencing any bit of relief. I thought I was losing my mind, and after visiting my previous Optometrist 5 times this year and trying 3 different contact lense brands to no avail, I truly had abandoned all hope for being able to see clearly again without experiencing extreme blurry vision and painful eye strain. By some miracle, I was referred to Dr. Rouw and now I have HOPE AND SUPREME VISION! He was so very kind, empathetic, compassionate, and a complete master of his craft; you could tell this line of work receives every bit of his heart and soul. He took such careful, meticulous time with the evaluation, alleviated all of my worrisome concerns I had been plagued with, reassured me about the future prognosis of my vision, and masterfully developed the most perfect treatment to correct my vision for life. Dr. Rouw has such a profound gift, and I am ever immensely grateful to physicians, and people like him, who care more about the people they are seeing and doing everything within their power to make their lives easier for the better, than checking patients off of a schedule for the day. He has renewed my faith in the medical field and in people. My eyes feel brand new again! I truly hope anyone in need of specialized eye care and treatment will be sent here to see Dr. Rouw; I wouldn't entrust my eyes to anyone else, and I am indebted to him the rest of my life, for the prodigious help he provided to me. I'd HIGHLY recommend him to my friends, family, everyone in need of his services. Thank you so much Dr. Rouw!

My wife and I both went in for our annual physicals and we both got bills for what was supposed to be a free preventative services. Mine was $50 and my wife's was over $350! After a dozen calls to their billing department (who is never available and when you finally reach someone they claim to not be authorized to make a decision) they disclosed the reason for the $350 is because the PA asked my wife a question (which she answered) and they considered that not to be "preventative care" and so without any disclosure charged her over $350 for a separate office visit which our insurance refused to cover. Talk about entrapment! If you use them, be very careful to not answer any questions the Doctor ask you as they will use this as an opportunity to hit you with a sneaky bill. It is nice they respond to the reviews in this forum, but please note this is not helpful as the phone number they give is the same one that you can't get ahold of anyone in billing and the email they give, no one responds to except to say they are unauthorized to help.
