Dr. Sioufi diagnosed my issue quickly, assured me of the path forward and eased my concerns. Despite much closer alternatives to my home, I will continue to go to this office - I trust this doctor and his staff.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience trying to schedule care with Woolfson Eye Institute…read moreand Dr. Gaby Gutierrez. My appointment has now been canceled twice, including after I had already waited months to be seen. The most recent cancellation was not a same-day emergency situation. I was notified weeks in advance that the appointment would not be kept, yet the clinic did not provide a reasonable solution or help me get scheduled with another provider. For a medical practice, especially one dealing with eye care, reliability and communication matter. Patients arrange their schedules, wait for appointments, and trust that the office will respect their time. Repeated cancellations without an appropriate alternative creates a real access-to-care problem. After this happened, I looked further into the clinic's reviews and complaints and saw many other people reporting concerns about scheduling, communication, billing, insurance issues, and overall poor patient experience. Based on my own experience, those complaints are concerning. At this point, I do not feel confident moving forward with this office. I am thankful I found out before receiving treatment, because repeated scheduling issues and poor communication are warning signs for me. For anyone dealing with repeated cancellations or difficulty accessing care, it may be worth contacting your insurance company and reporting it as an access-to-care or network adequacy issue. Insurance companies need to know when listed in-network providers are not actually providing timely or reliable access to care. I do not believe contacting management will resolve my concern because this appears to be an ongoing pattern based on multiple reviews and complaints. I will be looking for another provider.

I need to warn everyone about my experience at this office, specifically with Dr. Harpeet Walia…read more It's an administrative disaster capped off with genuinely shocking behavior from the doctor himself. The back office is consistently incompetent with insurance. You'll wait months for an appointment, then wait over an hour in the waiting room, only to be told your insurance is denied because they didn't file the paperwork. They will outright tell you they did, but when you call your insurance (Aetna), you'll find either nothing was ever submitted or you received a denial because they refused to fill out the form required by state regulations and their in-network contracting agreement. Then they blame you for it. But the absolute worst part was my interaction with Dr. Walia. After a year of this, I finally brought them proof that their office had used the wrong form--for the second time. Instead of apologizing, Dr. Walia took me into a side room and completely unloaded on me. He was condescending, yelled, and treated me like a child for daring to point out their mistake. It was a total Jekyll and Hyde moment from his usual calm demeanor and was honestly shocking. And guess what? After his tantrum, they suddenly "found" the form, submitted it correctly, and everything was approved immediately. Proving the problem was them all along. The cycle just repeated at my last appointment. They tried to turn me away again stating a claim denial. When I politely asked to step to the side while I verified the situation, the staff used strong language suggesting that I was unwelcome. Upon returning home, I find that once again, they failed to use the correct form. Now I want you to let it sink in that this was a RETURN visit for a previous turn-away several weeks prior where they claimed they could not secure any of my medication for "free". It turns out I had coverage during this ENTIRE period they were giving me this line about doing me a favor because my insurance wouldn't this or that. It's shocking how you trust, and follow the narrative of the people handling their duties, implicitly, only to find out reality is totally unrelated. Why even do this? How does this even happen? Save yourself the stress. The administrative runaround is bad enough, but being verbally abused by the doctor for holding them accountable is something no patient should ever experience. I wouldn't trust them with my care, or with handling a simple insurance form.

I had a retina detachment with a tear and every experience I've had at this office and with my…read moresurgery and post surgery care has been amazing. The first day I had to go to this office I did have to wait a long time to be seen (I was there for close to three hours) but it was an emergency appointment and that was understandable. They fit me in for surgery the next day at the Bon Secours downtown hospital DURING A SNOW STORM. And in the weeks after my surgery, I was extremely anxious and every single time they did what they could to fit me in and double and triple check the issues I was having. I was extremely apologetic every single time because this is the first time I had gone through something like this and as an anxious person in general, I am sure I was more than a little bit extra, but they were never anything but kind, helpful, and informative. My main doctor is Dr Feldman and he has truly been amazing throughout this difficult experience. I was also unfortunate enough to have this happen when I was out of my insurance network (traveling from out of state) and the people working in the finance department have been extremely helpful and understanding as I fight with my insurance about payment. I am also not the first member of my family who has been a patient here and my sister also has nothing but great things to say.

Dr Hall will always hold a dear place in our hearts, and Retina Consultants of The Carolinas comes right behind them. Any Retina issues, this is the place to come. Highly recommend. We never mind waiting because we know that means they are working in someone with an urgent issue.

After an exam and consult, I was moved to an "educator." This person goes over and explains the different lens "options" and their cost. I had NO idea that the surgery offered lens options that would "enhance and/or correct" my vision (aside from the cataracts themselves.) The staff was enthusiastic and thorough in explaining the options. Unfortunately...the results I was told to expect have not been realized and will NOT be realized without a 2nd procedure and additional $$$. I became animated and agitated because this absolutely would have changed my thinking on lens options and surgery altogether. I was NOT given all of the information I needed to make a decision regarding long term permanent solution. This 2nd procedure was described to me by Dr. Ackerman as a little "trick" or "tweak" that took only 10 seconds. I'm sorry, but please do not describe making an incision on my eye as a "trick. "He brushed off that I wasn't told in advance. No one on staff denied my concern. They only minimized it and continued to ask if I wanted to schedule the surgery or not. NOTE: This package treatment plan came with a guarantee that if needed, LASIK/LRI at no cost if needed *after cataract surgery. Of course, that's "not what I need" according to the staff. But it's free if that's what's needed. I cannot see my children in the pool...I Cannot read street signs...I cannot read the channel guide on my television. I am out a considerable sum of money and have nothing to show for it and have received a notice of termination of the physician/patient relationship. ALL OF THIS FOR A "10 SECOND "TRICK"

Charging patients for services without disclosing costs (or the potential for additional cost) is not a way to do good business. Be careful if you use this practice.
