Issues with Jefferson County DMV: · My property tax up 28% last year. · Clerk fee on all four vehicle registrations. · Phone & utility bills include county fees All of these taxes and fees, I still can't do a walk-in to change title at the Wadsworth DMV. On top of that the DMV is closed on Fridays - impossible for working people without flexible time. Not to mention the confusing and conflicting information on the website. I believe that instead of treating taxpayers as customers, the county expects us to treat it as the customer. Vote every Jefferson County politician out next election. I had a very disappointing experience at this DMV location. The wait times were unreasonable even with an appointment, and staff seemed uninterested in helping. When I asked for clarification about a process, I was met with rude and dismissive responses. It felt like customers were treated as an inconvenience instead of being assisted. I was told by a phone call and by reading the website that you can transfer a credit from a registration of a car that was sold to someone else. Below is from the website: Unfortunately, county motor vehicle offices do not offer refunds if you sell your vehicle during its annual registration period. You can transfer any remaining prorated amount of your registration to a new vehicle (or another person) at your county office. Please be aware that transferring remaining credit is not an option online through .We went in to take care of this and get the new registration. I was told very rudely that no you can not transfer the credit to another person and she refused to have any further conversation about it. At the very least they should change the website. Amazing. My wife a couple years ago told me how great this office is, I kind of nodded and, ya know - whatever. Oh but then I discovered recently I'd let my license tags expire, and on a Corvette that's not good, it gets noticed. Made an appointment online, easy and efficient, got in a day later, took my printout for the appointment - was barely seated when I got called to the window. Super nice lady took my info, figured out what to do, took my money, printed and gave me a temporary plate wrapped in plastic and on a cardboard backing so you can use as a license plate (brilliant!). I found the emissions place up off 38th (?), they have an online that tells you wait time for each office and best time to visit. I was in, tested, passed, paid and on my way in well under 30 minutes. Another Jeffco appt today, again I was barely seated when called up, gave her my paperwork - within a few minutes I had new tags, registration and was on my way. I went online to get my plates for my truck and two weeks later my temporary tags had just expired. I went into the Jefferson County DMV and initially was told that everything is by appointment only. Was walking away and the lady running the number dispenser berated my for a short time claiming I was insensitive about their short staffing because I just walked in but then handed me a number. There was four people helping and one citizen of Jefferson county receiving help. I sat down immediately with a pink haired lady who was immediately rude and dismissive. She spent the entire 15 minutes chastising me for registering online and was explaining how fortunate I was for her giving me an extension on my temporary plates. If I could give zero stars for Arvada/Vanessa (#11), I would. People like #11 should be DOGED. They forget that they work for us, we the people do not exist for them or to be put through thier abitrary beauractic crap. First off, I am a disabled veteran and had all the appropriate documentation, including a letter from the US Veterans Administration (VA). I scheduled an appointment to get a set of DV License plates for my truck. I arrived and was told the letter from the VA was not sufficient and that I needed a letter stating my disability percentage. I went home, printed out another copy of the letter stating the % and went back that day. I was told that the VA letter was not correct and that I needed a different letter from the Jeffereson County Department of Veterans affairs. I contacted a veterans service officer, and he sent the letter 3 weeks later. I returned, and Vanessa said she would be right with me. After 25 minutes, she grabbed her purse and hot-footed it out the door for lunch, leaving me sitting there. I raised the alarm and was sent to #17, a very nice woman (5 stars) I told her the story gave up all the documentation, and was told the original letter the VA sent was ALL I EVER NEEDED and was issued my temp plates in 2 minutes. The sour puss on #11, Vanessa is ill-informed and should be DOGED! Remember, you work for us; we don't exist for you to have a job. Had the pleasure of having Paula help me. I let her know I've never done the process of changing a title hoping to get some guidance. Her response was "We don't hold your hand her" & "we make you grow up in CO" I was not expecting someone to hold my hand just some guidance and patients. After messing up on a number on a doc she scolded me about and I explained that my dyslexia got the best of me she proceeded to scold me. Not sure if she was just having a rough morning and was not ready for helping people out. When I went again I worked with Emi & she was great !!! Was helpful answered all my questions. I called this dmv twice. Confirmed all required documents for registering a vehicle that I inherited from my mom who died 2 years ago both times. I made a appointment and took time off from work. I'm a bmw technician for a dealership. I complete VIN inspections for a living every day. However they declined the VIN inspection. All because it was performed by me. A certified VIN inspector. Now I have to take more time off from work, get a new VIN inspection done by a coworker, and drive 45min to an hour both ways to this dmv all over again. I'm highly dissatisfied. When I asked to speak with the manager. The manager defended the clerck and told me I had to come back the next day. It's a shame that we pay these people's wages for them to be awful for no reason. read more

Top notch! Maybe these negative reviews are coming from folks who hadn't double-checked what they need. I made an appointment the day after deciding to stop by and was out in 20 minutes, even with the logistics of switching registrations and titles from out of state. Vanessa was very helpful and friendly; took care of all the paperwork in a flash! Most DMVs I've dealt with have been mediocre at best, occasionally hostile. Not the case here, so I had to leave a positive review to help balance things out. read more

on September 14, 2023 I had a scheduled appointment at DMV in Arvada off 64th and Wadsworth. My appointment was so quick and very informative the gal at counter 6 explained to me everything I needed she took the time to show me additional types of plates and was very nice. I was pleasantly surprised cause it is not always this positive. As much as it is pain to make appointments I think it works so much better and is way more efficient and quick. When you go on line they not only charge you some bs 3rd party fee and then they sell your information. I get so many spam emails and phone calls doing it this way. Next time I will waste their time with an appointment. Don't renew on line, scam. Rave review for the Arvada DMV! I have commercial vehicles that require me to visit DMV at least once a month. After visiting the Golden DMV (1.5 miles from my office) and being treated poorly on more than one occasion, I now drive 9 miles out of my way to be treated with respect and kindness at the Arvada DMV. All of the counter clerks are extremely pleasant, very helpful, and seem to genuinely want to make your visit to DMV as quick and painless as possible. I recommend you set up an appointment before going in, but I've seen supervisors come out from the back to help the line with walk in crowds. Also, bring cash or check... they charge extra if you use credit or debit cards. read more

It could not have been easier or quicker. So why only 4 stars. I am from NJ, the highest taxed state in America. Even there it would have only cost me $250 to register my car. Here it was 1508.75. I usually do whatever I can online. But in my experience when you need to register a new vehicle you usually need to go in person, thankfully, that doesn't happen often for me. PAULA was so condescending, there really wasn't any need at all for her attitude. It's the holidays, they were not busy at all. I had ALL my paperwork, I took in some plates off a vehicle I had sold just in case I could use them on the new vehicle (recycle?), but she had to give me an unnecessary lecture on why they couldn't be used and then sat there looking at me like I was wasting her time. Then she asked if the vehicle was sold through a dealership, I thought she was still talking about the one I sold!! No, she was talking about the new one and again gave me an unnecessary lecture about how she explained which vehicle she was referring to! I had ALL my paperwork, all she had to do was look at it!! Why??? Why can't people be polite and kind? Why is it so hard? If you hate your job, QUIT!! Especially if you don't like dealing with other humans!! We all have our stuff going on in life, none of us ever know what another might be dealing with!! I went in there having a good day, walked out wondering what just happened!! If I could give a negative star I would. I am military (may be deploying) and needed a used vehicle. I bought it without a plate. I have been to the DMV three days now, each time needed different paperwork and each time I had asked was anything else needed, and it keeps changing. The people that work there are rude. There were three other people in line that were also turned away without getting what they needed. I am not sure where these other reviews are coming from. I need to clarify this review... only the Golden office totally sucks!!! I have gone there twice to get titles for out of state vehicles. They always find some completely lame reason to not be able to do it. Then i go to any other office and it goes through no problem with exact same paper work. They also have looked over paper work told me what to bring back and then when you bring it back it is not enough. The Golden office takes pride in rejecting you. I have never, ever, ever had a more positive experience getting my car tabs renewed. From the moment I parked, to the moment I stuck my new sticker on was about 5 minutes, total. WHAT? That's right. You pull up to a small office building, which also houses the Sheriff's Office (denoted on a wooden sign, saloon style.) So Evergreen. The only other office in there is the JeffCo Motor Vehicle office. Come on in. You can take a number, but you don't have to. Sit in the cool, old, wooden pews, or not. You'll probably be helped very soon. The people working here were super friendly, good at their jobs, and efficient. The only bummer is the lighting--somebody please get rid of those fluorescent tubes. They're horrible. Bring some more light up in there! Otherwise, this was an amazing experience. I almost look forward to the next time I need to get something done at the DMV. Crazy. read more

I walked into this place on a Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. On the last day if the month...it was packed to the rafters. I pulled number 481 and they were on 400. If it hadn't been for the fact that I had waited until the last day of the grace period for my registration ( don't judge, I was busy with all the other stuff I'd been procrastinating). So I stood there, assuming I'd be home around midnight) and even eventually found a seat. Was out of there in less than an hour. An hour you say? Who would give 5 stars for an hour wait? I was A-mazer they were able to get 80 some procrastinators ( anyone who wasn't desperate like me would have come back another day) through there that quick. And they were nice! Pick this one if you can..they got it figured out Tip....know what you need to have before you go.....not having it wastes your time and slows it down for everyone read more

Not too shabby for a government office. They have changed the numbering system - modernized it a little. Be sure to grab your number from the computerized kiosk at the entrance. I went in after I renewed my plates online and the post office mangled my paperwork and lost the sticker. There were a ton of people in line ahead of me, but the wait was only about 10-15 minutes. They don't have WiFi, but my cell signal was strong and I just watched Netflix while I waited. A-OK! read more

After pulling an appt ticket, (I was 351 and they were on 342) I think i waited about 8 minutes before I was called up and was out the door within another 5 minutes..... !! Unfortunately, Jefferson County appears to be behind on the paperwork... but the 2 Jeffco employees I worked with on this issue were great. Since my paperwork had not arrived yet, I called and had a super helpful conversation with Kevin about what to do. Upon my Wednesday morning visit to the office, Sadie was cheery, helpful and easy to work with. I had a short wait - maybe only 15 minutes, and the waiting area is clean, warm, with ample seating areas. I wish I could have taken care of everything on one trip - but that's how it goes. read more
