Marco, window D, was more than happy to give his name and window location. It seems as if he is used to people wanting to report him. Very unfriendly, which is unusual for this branch. I have never had issues before. However, today was a whole different experience. My daughter was trying to renew the plates on the vehicle I previously owned alone and now have her as the primary as she has taken over the loan and the car. The lady at check in was being rude and kept asking my daughter for the title to prove she owns the car. The credit union holds the title. She would not give my daughter a window ticket. I walked up and after stating she was my daughter, the lady handed my daughter a window ticket no problem. I don't want to play a race card, but my daughter is black and I am not. I should not have had to say anything. Then we got to window D to the ever so pleasant Marco. My daughter handed him the registration renewal notice, which has my name and told him they should have the letter on file showing she is now the primary and I the cosigner. Marco said she needed to have the title in hand. I informed Marco I had a tracking number which showed delivery of the title document to the DMV. Marco stated that letter was delivered to a different office and he could not see the contents of the letter. He proceeded to tell us what information was in front of us which would not allow my daughter to put the plates in her name. Fine, I'll just pay the registration in my name and once we have a title letter in our hands we will change it over to her name. No. Marco felt the stories conflicted and he would not proceed. Okay Marco, what do we need to do to get the plates renewed. Bring back a letter in hand. I tried to ask about the letter that had already been sent and if that would ever transfer over to the Brighton location. Marco proceeded to repeat the information on the screen while disregarding my question. I asked again about the title letter that had already been sent, and he continued to neglect to answer my question.
I work in a jail and I practice customer service throughout my day with employees, inmates and the general public. Yes, it gets tiresome hearing the same questions over and over from different people, but each person was not present the first 500 times the question was addressed. Use consideration and a tiny level of decency when dealing with customers. I did not ask Marco to renew our tags immediately. I asked what else would need to be done as we had already been through a few hoops to get the tags renewed.
The icing on the cake came when I immediately called from my car to speak to a manager, but was answered by call center rep Rose. SHE DESERVES 20 STARS!!!! She pulled up the account and was able to immediately see that my daughter was listed as the primary and I the cosigner. She was able to take payment over the phone and answer a few other questions.
Yes, the facility is beautiful and I have had great service and speedy processes when taking care of my own DMV needs. Then again, I am white, and my daughter's "blackness" was a bit apparent today. Front desk lady and Marco deserve zero stars. People, you don't know what others are dealing with in their daily lives. Show some grace. I'm sorry if your day, job, life sucks, but don't project that onto others. read more
