After learning that Colorado AAA does not handle vehicle registration I was prepared for a long…read morewait. I have previously experienced both the Boulder and Longmont offices and wasn't excited to return (not that they're worse than those in CA). I decided to give the Louisville office a try, and lo and behold, no wait. The staff were courteous and parking was easy. It is a bit off the freeway but definitely worth the drive.

I had such a positive experience at the Boulder County Department of Motor Vehicles today. We went…read moreto get a new title and transfer a title. We did not wait very long to be assisted. It helps that you now need to make an appointment online. When you enter the building you check into the kiosk and are given a number. The building has been newly renovated (since June) and has lots of comfortable chairs, several screens that show when it is your time to be helped. They even announce your number in case you are not facing the screens. There is a privacy glass now which helps with health and safety for the employees and customers. This partition did not take away from connecting with the employee. The employee that helped us (Jamila) was in training. She was personable, friendly and helpful. She made the transaction a very positive experience. There is free street parking and a free parking lot across the street. There was a time when it was hard to find a parking spot, but now with a parking garage with free parking it is easy to find parking.

My husband and I came here on a Thursday afternoon in mid December, and we were in and out in less…read morethan half an hour. Justine was efficient, albeit not the most welcoming personality, but given how some people behave at the DMV, I can't say I blame her. We were still out of there in a timely manner with all the information we needed, and that's all I can really ask for.

Just moved to Boulder, CO from SF, CA and needed to transfer over my title and get a new…read moreregistration. Got there around 3:25pm on a Monday and took about an hour and 15 minutes to be completely done. The lady who helped me was very pleasant - in fact, probably the nicest employee I've encountered at the DMV. The other employees there seemed, for the most part, very nice as well, much nicer than the ones at the Driver License location (although I've only been to either location once, so my opinion is quite biased). Make sure you read up all on the required documents online ahead of time and have all of them ready in hand. This will make the process so much quicker. I saw other people who had to wait around longer b/c they didn't have their insurance info, etc. Also, if you moved here from CA, make sure you notify the CA DMV of your address change and title transfer or else they will keep sending you renewal notices and extra charges if they don't get a response (and this could go on for years after you've moved)! Info here: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/vr/vr_info#moving Also, it's cheaper if you pay with cash or check rather than credit card.

This is the county office where you get and renew tags for your car. It is not the state driver's…read morelicense office. The staff here is very efficient, with an automated number system for service based on the type needed. For simple renewals, including getting replacement tags, it almost always goes very quickly. Since we have had some issues with leaving anything of value in our porch mailbox, I usually renew in person here, as I am in the neighborhood of the office regularly and I do have the time. Just don't come in the first or last days of the month when it is the busiest.

I did not have an appointment and it was pretty packed when I walked in and I expected to be stuck here for hours. The queue moved very quickly and the four employees working at the time did a fantastic job keeping things moving, and with a smile on their faces. My issue was resolved quickly and I felt confident in the information I was given, which is always huge at a DMV. About as pleasant as a DMV experience as one could hope for!

The whole process took about 10 minutes sitting at the counter, and the lady was very nice, and congratulated us. It's not a gimmick, as it's an effective and friendly post office as well. It's nice to walk up to a clerk and have them help you or give you feedback BEFORE they punch up the order or finalize the price. If you're unsure of what class to send your item (or which method is cheaper), they'll know. Really makes a difference, since most post offices seem to expect that customers are thoroughly versed in the Rules of Mailing Stuff.
