Dr. Sholer has been my dentist for about 5 years now and is truly one of the best in the business. He is kind, understanding, and always want what is best for his patience. The entire staff always go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and fit you into their busy schedule if you have an emergency. I have to admit that going to the dentist is probably one of my least favorite activities (surprise, surprise...) that being said I hadn't been in awhile and wanted a change because my old dentist was mean to me! I was referred to Jeff Sholer by a friend and I honestly haven't had a better dental experience in all my 25 years alive. I was a little apprehensive to go at first because switching up doctors/dentist is a scary thing for me...but boy, I'm glad I did! Jeff and his entire staff completely crushed all my doubts and concerns. I walked in and immediately felt very welcomed by a smiling receptionist (Sharlene...you're such a doll!) Once seated in the dental chair for a cleaning...I felt super at ease and taken care of. Everyone was very professional and the dental assistant cleaning my teeth couldn't have been nicer...she even asked me questions about my summer plans (which I answered in between getting my plaque scraped away...) once my cleaning was done, my mouth felt like a million bucks! yay! Then finally...the part I was dreading: Jeff Sholer coming in to give my mouth one final check. He was extremely gentle, very friendly and knowledgeable...answered all my questions! He's everything you'd want in a dentist...he knows his stuff! It was such a relief to be in such good hands. If there were more practices like this one...I don't think people would be as scared to go in for their 6 month check-ups. The next week I had to go in again to get a tooth repaired because part had broken off...I felt like a VIP! They made me a top priority, always checking to make sure I felt comfortable and wasn't in pain. I also felt like I was in "Minority Report II" because Jeff used this AWESOME high tech gadget that takes a 3-D image of my broken tooth (NO IMPRESSIONS FOR THIS GIRL!) and sends it to a machine that molds a piece of porcelain to fit in that tooth like a puzzle piece...it was seriously cool!!! I am a person who hates going to dentist.. Esp due to my bad experience with my previous dentist . But When I needed to go , I found sholer on Yelp and Iam so glad.. The entire crew is so welcoming and so very helpful..so many times I have called them cuz I was in insane pain , they understand the situation so well and squeezed me in immediately to help me. I hadn't gone to the dentist for about 3 years because my dentist would give me tons of crap for not flossing or taking care of my teeth. That is until a friend of mine became a dentist. Dr. Sholer is completely professional, friendly, and efficient. I was about to get laid off so I had to use my dental insurance fast. He was able to work with my schedule and within 3 days or so, my cavities were filled and root canals were prevented. All your teeth should go see Dr. Sholer. I was in for a filling and crown replacement. In an hour and 45 minutes, he was done. The crown was made right there so I didn't have to have a temporary and make a return trip for a finished version; I was really done and his work is flawless. He's a good listener, a great explainer, and is awesome for us procrastinators - he doesn't push. Let's you know what's up and whether it can really wait or not. Enough about him. His office staff is great as well. As soon as you walk in, you feel like they've known you forever and he has the best hygienist ever. I didn't gag, drown, OR cry. I had my first visit at Dr. Sholer's office in April. I made the foolish mistake of waited until the last week of dental coverage to try get my exam and cleaning done. I did my hunting around for a dentist and called around to a few different offices. Most of those offices weren't very accommodating for a last minute visit, but Charlene, the receptionist at Dr. Sholer's office, was prompt about getting back to me with available appointment times. She fit me in for a next day for my exam and cleaning. The staff at the office were friendly, and understanding of my situation with time and the dental coverage with a deadline. When I was told that a bit more work was needed (a few sealants and one tiny filling) I was worried I wouldn't be able to arrange another appointment before my ins coverage expired. But that wasn't the case at all! Charlene was able to fit me in for the remainder of the work later on in the same week. Dr. Sholer did a prompt and pain free job of sealing & filling my teeth. I highly recommend Dr. Sholer's office for people who aren't thrilled about going to the dentists office. The staff is super friendly, the dental hygienist is gentle, the doctor takes into account your life style (which is important if you have medical problems that can lead to sensitive gums or anything of the sort), and best of all they don't judge if your not the best at maintaining the chompers. read more

Hooray for my new dentist! I had some work involving needles done and I kept drifting away to lala land in the chair while they were working...granted it was the day after a major holiday and I was on about 4 hours sleep, but I could tell he knew exactly what he was doing and had no hesitations. I went to this office based on Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. All staff were friendly and sharp. I have moved often in the recent past, having to change dentists each time, so this was the 3rd dentist to look at a tooth whose crown kept falling off. He was the first dentist to explain to me why this was happening. I don't know if he was just a better communicator or whether he had xray capabilities that were better than the other dentists, so he could see things they couldn't. It turns out that I will need a root canal because of an abscess, but he sent me for a second opinion before making that decision. read more

I know I won't have to look anymore though. Honestly the first criteria I had was insurance acceptance (delta dental). They accepted it. Then it was not to make me feel any more embarrased about my teeth than I already do. From the minute I walked in the door, everyone in the office was really down to earth and were simply... normal, nice people. I felt really comfortable from the get go. Always a great experience from beginning to end. Very professional, knowledgable, friendly staff and Doctor. They take their time to answer all your questions and get to know you. On-time with appointments, I have never had to wait to be seen. Never have felt like they were trying to sell me anything or push a treatment in me. You do leave feeling genuinely well taken care of. This dentist is AMAZING. I have anxiety normally but more so at the dentist. I had a bad child hood experience. Anyways, I've been going to the same dentist since I was a toddler but 25 years later still was never very comfortable there. I decided to look for a new place and came across Dr Sholer. I first emailed them and immediately got a response from Danielle. Danielle was extremely understanding, non judgmental.. I didn't feel embarrassed like I have in the past. I emailed her several times with questions and she was very quick to respond. I spoke with her on the phone to make an appt and she actually got me in within 3 days. Danielle is 100% the reason I decided to give this place a try. Once I got there Danielle greeted me with a smile and remembered me right away. I then went in the room with the assistant. I don't remember her name (my apologies) but she was very friendly and interested in my personal life. We talked work, makeup, etc. she was very kind. Next Dr. Sholer came in and greeted me. I was nervous/tense just because of my anxiety but he was so friendly and welcoming. He took his TIME with me. Went over everything INCLUDING pricing. It's rare to find a dentist that 1- takes his time with you. From my experience they are so quick to be in and out. Not Dr Sholer. He spent thorough time with me. After an awful experience about 15 years ago, I have had the WORST dental anxiety ever. So imagine when my last DDS broke the news she was retiring. I have known Dr. Sholer and his office staff for years, but still needed to spend some time thinking about where I would be treated for all my dental needs. Through casual conversation, Dr. Sholer shared his outlook on how to handle anxious patients. With the help and assurance from Sharlene & Danielle, I moved forward with scheduling my first cleaning appt with Ivan. WOW, that prophy appt far exceeded my expectations and Dr. Sholer took time to examine my mouth and explain his short term and long term goals for my teeth. Flash forward to today, I had to come in last minute after cracking an old restoration. Ended up needed an adjacent new cavity filled, and a fix for the crack. I had ZERO anxiety, Dr. Sholer and his fantastic Dental Assistant delivered amazing service. I was put at ease and can't even believe I'm going to say this, but had ZERO pain when receiving a shot to get numb! Best. Experience. In. YEARS! I love free toothbrushes!!! Dr Sholer has been my dentist for three years now, and is by far the best experience I've had in a dental chair! He is honest, very trustworthy, and never feels like he is selling something I don't want or need. His receptionist remembered I was getting married, and went out of their way to ask about it... I really wanted to like this dentist due to the great reviews by other Yelpers, as well as because of the receptionist, Charlene who was so warm, friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. In addition, I appreciated how they were willing to accommodate someone without dental insurance and how they tried to book me an appointment as soon as possible. However, this dentist was not for me. First, I am usually not looking for a lot of ambiance when I go to the dentist but a large paper mache deer (antlers and everything!) and Christmas decorations still up in February was very off-putting to say the least! (I found out it was a gift from a patient, and it was very detailed and, no doubt, took hours to make, but it should have found a new home after January 1st as this office has a small waiting room!) Also they had a candle with an oil burner and I am not easily overwhelmed by fragrance or allergic to perfume, but it was hard to breathe (and I was already anxious about coming to the dentist!) Finally, re: the office ~ the bathroom has to be accessed through a key like you are at a gas station and I didn't appreciate having to ask permission to use the bathroom. Next, when I was brought into the exam room, I felt like the hygenist seemed new and not very confident in what she was doing (i.e. dropping things and not having a plan in mind of what she needed to do for me as a new patient). She also seemed to treat me differently immediately as it was noted on my forms that I didn't have insurance. I appreciate them trying to be conscientious about cost, but she automatically assumed that I could not afford x-rays and seemed to expect that I had my dental x-rays in my bag (that isn't something that normally people just have with them!) Dr. Sholer finally came in but since there were no x-rays he had little to go on but to do a basic exam. I did appreciate that he seemed to listen somewhat and helped me with an uneven bite on the right side of my mouth by smoothing the edges of a couple of my teeth. I also liked that they did have the new technology with a small flat screen attached to the exam chair and small cameras so you can see your teeth up close on the screen. However, overall he wasn't that friendly and he was a bit sarcastic when I asked him how long he estimated that I could put off doing an expensive crown, and he said "He wasn't a psychic." I was just wanting his opinion (given I was careful about what I ate and continued to brush and floss twice a day), not an exact prediction on when the entire tooth would give way. Finally, the receptionist, as sweet as she was, either did not consult long enough with the dentist or did not listen, as I was nearly overcharged $30 (which isn't a lot but, in these hard economic times, particularly for someone like me who is a student and currently unemployed, every dollar counts). They were going to charge me almost $100 for the crown estimate and small adjustment made to my bite. When I questioned the cost, she said this cost included the xrays (which were not performed as I was planning on transferring them from my previous dentist). Anyway, all these factors made me uncomfortable and, thus, prompted me to keep on looking for another dentist. read more
