The office charges a $1,000 annual administrative/concierge fee, yet I have not seen Dr. Landfield in roughly a year. During that time, the office didn't even manage to reschedule my annual physical after it needed to be moved. I eventually started obtaining my prescription elsewhere because dealing with refills through this office had become unnecessarily difficult and unreliable. At this point, all I really wanted from Dr. Landfield was a competent annual physical. I told the office very plainly that I could not justify paying $1,000 every year for what effectively amounts to one physical. I even offered a perfectly reasonable alternative: put me on the calendar for a physical this December, let me pay for the visit through the normal process, and we could go from there. Their response was remarkably straightforward: Dr. Landfield will not see me unless I pay the $1,000 fee. That tells me everything I need to know about the priorities of this practice. What makes the fee particularly difficult to swallow is that my experience with the office has hardly resembled a premium or concierge-level service. I've dealt with administrative mistakes, including something as basic as repeatedly getting my name wrong, problems and delays with prescriptions, and failure to follow through on scheduling. The one thing the office does seem remarkably consistent about is collecting the $1,000 fee. A concierge fee might be defensible if it bought exceptional accessibility, attentive follow-up, flawless administration, or some other meaningful level of service beyond ordinary primary care. That was not my experience. After years as a patient, I was essentially given a choice: pay $1,000 before the doctor will see me for my annual physical, or find another primary care physician. So I'll find another physician. If you are considering this practice, I would strongly recommend asking exactly what the $1,000 annual fee buys you and deciding whether the actual level of service justifies it. In my experience, it absolutely did not.

One thing I noticed that made me uncomfortable was that Dr Bauman maintains a very healthy prerogative to remove herself and turn the responsibility over to the patient to call an ambulance. That message gets delivered in several different ways but basically says "don't bother me, go to the emergency room" This is understandable since she is older, has only a part time practice, is heading for retirement, has no answering service, no patient portal and it is a cluttered little room where she sees her patients. Leaving a message on her answering machine is the only way to get messages to Dr Bauman and if you are not particularly cogent with verbal messaging then you have a problem. When I explained to her that the severity of my vertigo and vomiting made it impossible for me to use the phone and that I shouldn't be left alone to call an ambulance and the possibility of my inhaling vomit-------------Dr Bauman dropped me as a patient. It appears that she just isn't up for handling anything complex. If you have any serious health problems I really would not recommend going here......

You want someone with a slick modern office and streamlined service, lack of personal attention and care? Go elsewhere. Yes her receptionist doesn't have a computer but she does! All info is entered directly into her system. Not only is she thorough but she remembers all my medical issues and is very thorough in her testing and referral. She takes whatever time is needed. I'm very picky about my doctors and I LOVE that she is old fashioned. I hear her often have to take a call if I'm there and it is always to care for some emergency with an elderly patient. I hope she never retires- she cannot be replaced and other doctor's offices with their huge staff and rotating who you see with impersonal service- pale in comparison.

Dr.Andrew, called me himself about 1 1/2 hours after I called his office. He listened to my signs and symptoms and was very nice mannered on the phone and I was very impressed! I'am a retired C.N.A and H.H.A. and have seen quite a bit and have talked with a lot of doctors and he got right to the point and U.C.S.F. Urgent care was excellent in the care they provided. He was kind and personable, honored my choices about why I was declining a couple of tests he offered - although he was curious why I was declining. I thought he was a fine doctor.
