She listens, has vast medical experience, thinks deeply as to what is best for THIS patient, is friendly, medically up to date, and gives her patient the full time they need in her office. I am so appreciative of the care Dr Ward had professionally and personally given to my mother, that I unreservedly give her a 10+ recommendation. I kept saying there were signs of fatigue and weight. She kept saying I was fine. I went to my annual ob/gyn and told her the same thing. She checked my thyroid, found a lump referred me back to Dr. Ward for a follow up and low and behold, Dr. Ward called me on Christmas Eve to tell me I had thyroid cancer. She referred me to a surgeon who was on vacation and busy until after the holidays. After my surgery, one would think Dr. Ward would care enough to at least follow up. No such doctor here. She is probably a really nice person, but needs more medical experience and to be honest, I am not sure what she was thinking if she was at all returning my email with a call on Christmas Eve to tell me I had cancer.

Dr. Flaherty provides her experience, understanding, and insight into possible causes when I have had concerns. She also offers helpful next steps to make active decisions on what to do, whether it be a follow-up recommendation or a recommendation as to how I can actively manage something on my own. And, she always provides an open door should I need more information or seek a follow-up appointment. Finding a doctor can be challenging -- I would highly recommend Dr. Flaherty if you are looking for someone that will make you comfortable and confident in helping guide your health and wellness.

She is relentless in finding out what is wrong with you if it isn't evident through tests and exams, she digs to get you an answer and a plan forward. She is a good salesperson for Prima Medical, which is a medical group run so ineffectively, it makes the DMV look good. I went in for an annual physical. That physical consisted of her looking in my ears. That represents 100% of the medical attention I received. Aside from that, we discussed a few mutual friends we have. She also asked how my sleep issues were coming along, and I replied "fine." Because she asked that question, the appointment moved beyond annual physical to condition-related appointment, enabling her to charge me twice. To make things worse, Prima Medical stopped accepting my insurance (although they offered no notification regarding this). So, I went in expecting only to pay a copay for my annual physical and ended up getting charged full price for 2 separate appointments (even though I only spent 10 minutes total talking to the doctor). Prima Medical and Dr Basu are why health care in the United States is developing a terrible reputation. They aren't focused on healthcare but on throughput and revenues. If your health is important to you, you'd do best to look elsewhere.

I write this review for those who, like me, nearly missed a good opportunity with an excellent doctor AND staff because of nasty reviews. I actually missed my first appointment, fully forgot, 100% my fault, and was neither charged nor reprimanded for it. When I made it to my rescheduled appointment, I was met with smiles and friendliness. Dr.Lohtia was behind schedule, which they had recorded on a handy white board at the front of the office. Being warned in advance that I should expect to be about 30 minutes behind made it much easier to wait. The nurse and Dr.Lohtia were personable, knowledgeable, efficient and kind. I mentioned a sandwich spot near by, and the nurse lit up. She was eager to give me her recommendation and directions to find it. On my way out, I had a similar encounter with the receptionist. She told me a story about a patient visiting the same shop, and how popular it is. Everything about the office seemed eager, helpful, competent and kind. It's disappointing so many people reviewed it differently. On the other hand, it probably allowed for the opening I needed to see this wonderful doctor! Messages left to the doctor by phone message or MyChart take several days to respond IF SHE RESPONDS at all. I have been consistently ignored while suffering major health scares, never receiving calls or checks-ins for me as a patient in need of care. According to my experience, areas for improvement are patient education and user experience. Communication with FMSF practitioner/s can be clunky since there is a middle person to go through. I would also get frustrated with the redundant forms you are asked to fill out before every appointment. It made it even worse because it became clear to me over time the practitioners were not always reading them before our appointments. Patient education was not direct or concise enough for my liking. I informed Dr. Daniel's during our first meeting that patient education was a must for me in terms of Dr., patient fit. I never completely understood my own illness the 1 year + I was with Dr. Daniels, not for lack of trying to understand it. Lastly, I thought it was misleading that Scott, the FMSF accountant, who onboarded me to the clinic told me that treatment + supplements should be around $5,000 to get me better. I had spent double that and was feeling marginally better by the time I left the practice. The marginal improvement was partly due to my own personal choices to stay in my graduate program, which precluded me from adhering to lifestyle interventions, but knowing what I know now about mold and Lymes, $5,000 for treatment is not a realistic figure. I've learned now that on average people with Lyme spend about $75,000 out of pocket. When I asked Dr. Daniels about this she said they could not take responsibility for what her staff member said. I found this answer unsatisfactory. Dr. Daniels certainly has the ability to help people with complex illnesses get better, she helped a friend of mine recover, but I think you should know what you are getting into and/or know how to manage the process. Like another reviewer said on Dr. Daniel's San Francisco offices Yelp page, there's not a lot of hand holding or filling in the gaps. You really have to advocate for patient centered care, which is just an added burden when you're sick. In fact that's why I was paying them, to take some of that burden off of me. I do want to end on a positive note because I am grateful for the diagnosis and care I did receive from Dr. Daniel and Lisa. They did show me a bit of grace throughout the process, knowing I was a student with limited funds. Also, it's a huge plus that Dr. Daniels is a D.O. because she can provide prescription medication when necessary, as opposed to a naturopath who cannot. I did get out of my moldy house due to Dr. Daniels, which was a big first step.

I really appreciated that she did not dismiss my concerns because I am an atypical patient; she was very thorough. I am so, so glad I went to see her because I was referred (very quickly due to Dr. Tagliaferri's perseverance - she got my appointment moved up by a week and a half!) to a top-notch cardiologist who is very concerned about ruling out a serious issue. She even told me questions that I should ask the cardiologist!
