To be correct as my husband would point out this is not the specific Michelin recognized restaurant but a sister restaurant. The same items are sold here yet this is a fast casual version with a drive thru. I have never been to the original restaurant so I could not compare but I thought overall it was pretty good. The price for a bento box was really reasonable I believe it was about $10. For that price you get a protein, a base, an egg roll or spring roll, and a drink. The portions were very decent! I wish they had other drink options available other than soft drinks. Technically you can get a bottled tea but it's an up charge. If I lived in the area I could def see me wanting fast food and getting this. It's definitely better quality than food court Chinese food.

This time around, I stopped by the Downtown Memphis location, which is tucked away in a residential area not too far from Beale Street. A little off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trip. Now, let's talk about the experience. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted or acknowledged. A few employees made eye contact, but nobody said a word. I eventually learned from another customer that it was a seat-yourself establishment. Interesting! LOL. However, the moment I sat down, someone came right over to take my order. I guess everybody strictly stays in their lane around here! I ordered the three-piece white meat meal with coleslaw, baked beans, and a small side of mac and cheese. BABY, that chicken was GOOD! Everything came out in a timely manner, piping hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The chicken was seasoned just right, and the portions were generous. Exactly what I was looking for! Another thing I appreciated was the cleanliness. Both the dining area and restroom were clean and well-maintained. The prices were also very reasonable, especially considering the quality and amount of food you receive. My only real criticism is the initial customer service experience. A simple greeting or acknowledgment when someone walks through the door goes a long way. Other than that, I enjoyed my visit. Would I return? ABSOLUTELY! The food speaks for itself, and Gus's continues to deliver on that front.

She was extremely pleasant and welcoming. The portions are massive and the flavor intense. Jacob got the salad which had way more on it than explained. He loved it. I got the truffle sandwich and it was absolutely the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. It had two giant fried tenders on it which were juicy and crispy with their amazing wingman sauce. It also had a truffle aioli that was subtle but definitely delicious. The fries are season and crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside. We got the wingman platter. For the love of God this was incredible. The wings were juicy as well as nicely crispy. The flavors, now here's where they hit. There was a honey mustard, wingman, lemon pepper and a type of jerk curry. Well let's say this, I NEVER dipped. Not once. The seasoning on every one of these was magnificent. The curry was my favorite. It had a unique flavor with a kick. Best wings Ever!!! The place earns its name. We also had the rolls which were spicy and flavorful. Wouldn't pass on those either. This place deserves more than 5 stars. If you're looking for fried chicken or wings DON'T MISS this place. I am ruined now, because I will forever want this food every time I want fried chicken. When it came to which flavors to pick, I knew I had to try their award-winning flavor, Memphis Buffalo. I'm not a big wing person, so it was just ok to me. It was good, but didn't wow me. Also, I always get boneless, so I'm not sure if the flavor is different on regular wings- so take my review with a large grain of salt if you're a big wing person. The fries were really good but the flavored versions weren't that impressive so I'd rather just stick to the regular fries. The Pineapple Habanero was really good though. I really liked the flavor and the kick. It's one of the spicier things on the menu so I feel like I could handle the spiciest. I'd come back and try more flavors! I got to enjoy two different bands, and both were amazing! However, the final performance was definitely my favorite. Her voice was both soothing and powerful, and when she started singing Tina Turner, all I could do was smile. What an incredible performance! Now, let's talk about the ribs! They were delicious, full of flavor and literally falling off the bone. The baked beans were good, although they didn't blow me away. The green beans, however, were a miss for me. I think they were trying to do too much with them; sometimes simple is better. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. The live music, atmosphere, and those ribs made this accidental stop well worth it. I'm definitely glad I ended up here, and I would absolutely recommend checking this place out, especially if you enjoy live music and good barbecue!

The bartender was very inattentive and acted like she had a giant chip on her shoulder. I ordered the ribs and a local draft lager. The food and drinks were very good. I was hoping for a Memphis dry rub, but they were doused in bbq sauce. The ribs weren't as good as what you can probably find at other places in Memphis, but they had good flavor. The baked beans were very sweet and watery. The coleslaw was great. The live band was amazing. That night it was the BB King All-Stars. They played a wide variety of musical genres spanning several decades. One song was so good, I was brought to tears. Overall, I had a decent time. The live band saved the night for me. I went on a slow Tuesday night in September, so there really wasn't much open on Beale St to choose from.
