However, my UBER car dropped me off at 5:45 am, so I had to wait in the cold outside for them to open the doors. There are no benches or places to rest. I would have expected for the staff to be there by 5:30 am, if they are asking patients to arrive at 6:00 am. I had Carpal Tunnel Surgery of my right hand, performed by Dr. Julie Gilbert, Everything went smoothly and the staff was kind. The rooms are all very modern and clean. The surgery only lasted for a duration of only about about thirty minutes. All went smoothly, and there were no issues whatsoever;. You cannot be taken home via an UBER car, so a friend or family member must pick you up after surgery to return you to your home.

Because of a…read moreprevious bad experience with anesthesia at a major hospital here in San Diego I was truly scared about going under again. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Diehl, took the time to actually sit down and explain in detail how he planned to do this and what he suspected had happened to me before. This was invaluable to me. It gave me the confidence to proceed and the knowledge of what to avoid in the future. If I could, I would only have Dr. Diehl ever put me under again! Everyone there from the ladies in Reception to the nurses in Recovery treated me like a real human being showing me compassion and caring. Connie started me off getting me settled in with her easy manner and sense of humor. Diane was with me in the OR offering comfort and stayed close and attentive while I was going under. Barb was there when I woke up-the part I was most scared of because of how I woke up before. Just for a few moments I thought I was in a video game LOL, but it was fine and lasted less than a minute. Barb patiently kept talking to me and I came around nice and easy. She continued with her care and we found out we had much in common having both worked with horses in our past. I am an older gal, disabled, and have to see quite a few doctors. The team at SMI is far and above any others I have experienced. Their care, knowledge and compassion are exemplary and worthy of the highest praise. Thank you everyone at SMI. All my best to you !!

My Scripps PCP recommended Sharp, and his advice has been golden in the past. Upon acceptance of my application, Sharps sent me their gold-hued ID card and a passel of information of coverages and services. That helped ease my nerves about obtaining new health coverage. I immediately signed up on their patient portal, but was unable to actually use it until my insurance kicked in on Jan 1. I signed up for the Chula Vista Internal Medicine location at 754 Medical Center Court. So far, so good with Sharp. I was able to see a doctor within three days of requesting a visit. No, it wasn't the doctor I signed up for (Dr. David Hansen, based upon his outstanding Yelp reviews, of course), but that's OK. It was my first visit, and I submitted lot of information and received a vital signs examination. I received two referrals which I requested, and was authorized for a full blood panel. The doctor I saw was Dr. Marco Martinez. He was very pleasant and even patient while collecting my information and entering it into the health care system records. He suggested a very convenient location for the blood draw. I was concerned about transferring my prescriptions, but was informed that I need not change my prescription mail order service. Yay ! The Sharp patient portal does not seem nearly as intuitive as the Scripps portal. This perhaps because I learned how to navigate the Scripps portal, and am still learning the Sharps. That said, the two referrals I was granted do not show up on my portal page. I called the doctor's office, but they had no answer, and promised to query the doctor via message. Not yet resolved. Every interaction so far with Sharp staff personally or telephonically has been quite pleasant, and certainly on a par with Scripps. What the future holds will be discussed in Updates.

I arrived 20 minutes early to my appointment and was seen one hour after my appointment time! The moment I brought it up to the Doctors attention, they rushed me out of there as if that was the problem. Just completely unacceptable! I was referred to a specialist and provided a prescription to be filled at Walgreens. When I arrive at Walgreens, they inform me they did not have a prescription for me. I have to contact the Lakes Urgent care office once again only to find out the made a mistake and sent my prescription to the wrong location. When I had some strange skin ailment that was causing the skin on my hand to slough off in large strips (gross, right?), I had to wait two weeks to be seen at Dr. Button's practice! That's a long time, but I get it, it always takes a while to get an appointment at your gp's office. An hour and 30 minutes before my appointment, the receptionist calls to let me know the doctor has been called out to emergency surgery and can't see me. Then she calls thirty minutes later and leaves a message letting me know that the appointment is actually back on and they'll be seeing me in an hour! End of story: I never saw the doctor. Out of the two times I have actually seen the doctor, he has spoken to me for about 30 seconds each session, pretty much ignored what I had to say, and usually just told me to go find a specialist. No, he didn't refer me to a specialist, he told me to go find one. My mother sees him as well, and uses non-yelp-appropriate words to describe the quality of his care. The receptionist(s) are always very friendly and personable, though, and made the experience slightly more bearable. Luckily, I don't come here anymore, so it's a non-issue.

His staff had me book a second appointment to see him and when I returned today, he turned me away because I was at another center before, where he didn't agree with their treatment protocols. As if it's my fault I followed their treatment and successfully lost 40 pounds. He almost seemed upset that I didn't come to him first, and didn't understand why I would want to try out a new place with more convenient hours and parking. I told him that his staff shouldn't have told me to come back and waste my time. He responded by saying his time is valuable too. Um, you work here - what else are you going to be doing and this is your job? He also said his staff doesn't set the "gold standard". Well then don't have them communicate to patients!! He then proceeded to tell me my injection would be complimentary, and then explained to me what complimentary means!!! I couldn't believe how insulting he was. I bit my tongue! I left, got a refund through Groupon, because I couldn't stand speaking to him anymore. He needs to think about the way he speaks to other people and maybe take a class on communication. I don't think he has any respect for women.

She checked me in efficiently, and Martin did a battery of thorough peripheral and eyesight exams. Then I saw Dr. Sundaram who was even more thorough and had me take more tests/scans including optic nerve and cornea. She walked me through the results and went over my MRI with me, explaining what they indicated and next steps. She was factual and matter of fact, but also calmed my nerves a bit. The only reason this is a 4 star review and not 5 stars is because I had two appointments (field eye test then the consult), an hour apart. The second time I was 20 minutes early, checked in online then went to the front desk. The girl who helped me had no idea how to check me in and when I told her what Jackie did to check me in, she still looked lost and went and asked for help. Long story short, it somehow took 25 minutes for this to happen so instead of being early I ended up getting seen late. Dr. Sundaram was great and very thorough, and I would recommend her.
