Dr. Polak is great! Very friendly and kind. Listens to your concerns, cares and gives reasonable and affordable treatment options. The office staff however is on the more unprofessional side. They don't do well with greeting people, and giving quality customer service. They sometimes gossip or chit chat while you're sitting right next to them and don't acknowledge patients in the room. They could be friendlier and put patients first a little bit more. The wait time is also extremely ridiculous. I spent 2 hours waiting for a 15 minute visit. My mom spent 4 hours one time as well. Clear your DAY if you want to be seen. read more

From my preteen years until my mid-30's, my family had Dr. Monk as its primary health doctor. Some years into my early 30's, Dr. Monk allowed Dr. Polak to also practice at his office. Fast forward about 2-3 years later, she failed to maintain proper care for my father that had a heart condition. On his end, he had done everything preventative for about 2 decades after finding out he had the heart problem, to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Due to her negligence, my dad's cardiologist notified us that dad's heart was no longer functioning well and he had a very short life left. In our discussion with him, he stated that Dr. Polak was a very poor doctor due to other experiences had with her work. A bit before all this happened, Dr. Polak had also recommended that my mom had heart assessments. My mom had never displayed any symptoms, so when she met with another cardiologist, that cardiologist, basically also had the same poor opinion of Dr. Polak. He didn't understand why my mom was referred to him or the assessments due to mom's great cardiac condition. BEWARE!! read more

Sweet lady, attentive and extremely knowledgeable! Yes we aren't all perfect and she believed a patient a few times that she "lost her meds" and gave her a refill.. I've lost my meds my self don't we all at least once? Well Dr Pollak was my moms Dr for many years, my Mom loved her and didn't mind the wait as Dr Pollak will take her time with my Mom and read and explain each of her results and Mamas concerns. My Mother hasn't been able to find a better replacement than Dr Pollak! So sad, read more

This doctor is on PROBATION for GROSS NEGLIGENCE! Do not trust her with yourself or your family! She is absolutely terrible. She is dismissive and rude with little to no regard for patients. We only discovered that her ability to practice medicine was restricted after she gave extremely subpar care to my family member and I looked her up on the California Medical Board website. And yes... all other poor reviews are accurate...ALWAYS a 2+ hour wait beyond appointment time. Shame on you Scripps! We pay good money for medical insurance and trusted you with our care. I attached pics of her medical license citations and probationary restrictions. read more

this woman put numerous incorrect things on medical records. patient came in with ex-wife and she put that the same ex-wife was his mother even though his mother has been dead for over a decade due to the face that he is in his 70s- that really should have been a clear indication that the women he came in with was NOT his mother - however she can't even see simple mistakes like this one and realize her observations are all off - she needs to retire read more

If you *LOVE* 5 hour-long waits for a follow-up that she spends 10mins or less with you and the rudest staff possible this is the place to go. They just don't care at all about you. Place isn't even busy. They just there for the paycheck with no care for patients at all. It even smelled like pot when I entered. As a 40yr old that has been to hundreds of doctor appointments this is 0/3 everytime gets worse and worse. Don't ever go. read more

I am honestly here to tell you to PLEASE save yourselves the frustration and inconvenience of seeing this doctor. I honesty don't know why she hasn't retired yet. She doesn't even listen to you and she cuts you off. She's honestly so terrible at her job. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE INCONVENIENCE. Ps she's the provider in charge of COVID-19 patients and it's going to be hell getting anything done with her. I'm telling you right now. read more

She may be a good doctor, but I'm not sure I've only spoke to her once... the first time was a 2 hour wait and would've been more but I was about to leave and she came in a saw me because I was on my way out. That encounter she was nice but not worth a two hour wait. I came back because I really needed the result from my labs. I was in the wait room for 3hours before I decided to leave. This office IS WORST THEN THE DMV!!!!! At lease at the DMV if you have an appointment they get you in and out. read more

Horrible doctor with attitude to match. My mother was misdiagnosed several times as was I. I would recommend to anybody to go to the ER before going to this place. Luck Polak is rude and only cares about the money not the patient. read more

My last review was in 2013. I recently visited doctor Polak's office after being in the ER the night before for uncontrolled hypertension issues. The ER gave me a prescription, controlled my hypertension and sent me on my way home within 2 hours. Next day, I felt the same way as the day before so my sister suggested visiting Dr Polaks office. I got there at 3pm and came out at 8:30p with a new correct prescription, lab orders and some other things she wanted me to get done. 3 days after I did my labs and everything I visited Dr Polaks office and she told me my condition went well beyond just hypertension. At the ER they did not do certain tests where they would have seen I have a serious medical condition. I'm at the best shape of my life, athletic yet we are born with certain genetics and things happen. Needless to say I would rather visit Dr Polak and wait 8 hours to be seen than to go to an ER or another doctor where I may get in and out quick, but the quality of care will not be there. This doctor saved my life and for the past years she has treated my family and I with the best quality of care. For people who hate to wait, don't go there. Even I have bitched about the wait in the past but honestly no one gives you the same QUALITY of care as she does. What other doctor helps you when you're uninsured by paying $25-30 on your first visit and your next visits during the same month free of charge. What other doctor gives you prescriptions that are low in cost and refers you to affordable places. With her, no one will be denied a medical visit. Quit your bitching or go to some other doctor. Plain and simple. In fact. I'm gonna see Dr Polak in 2 weeks and I cant wait to be there for 8 hours to see my favorite doctor who I feel safe with. read more

There are times bad service can be overlooked but 3 times in a row is ridiculous. Dr. Polak isnt my primary care provider but she is the covid Dr for everyone in that group. Every time i go in im waiting 3 to four hours and only got her to come see me when i threatened to leave. Yesterday i called her because i have covid symptoms. She said come in immediately so we can test you and check your oxygen. I arrived at 4pm. I checked in and they said they'd call me when it was time to room me. I waited till 520 still no call so as i can see lots of people leaving the parking lot. I decided to go in. Dr. Polak saw me waiting and asked me a stupid question, "Are you waiting to be seen?" They brought me in had me sit in a room after checking my vitals. Finally about an hour later i asked if I can at least go get my covid test down the hall while i waited for the Dr. The nurse said yes. I get to covid clinic only to find out they closed at 5pm. I was completely frustrated. Had i not asked i would still be waiting. This lady is the worst at time management. I will avoid seeing her at all cost. read more

Went to my doc yesterday because I had some spot on my eyeball but it's nothing just usual wear and tear. I'm getting old! Baaah! Anyhoo so there is the clinic clinic and then the walk in clinic that is open all day 7ish to 5:30 unless you are waiting for the doctor you'll be stuck there til 8 LOL like me. It was my first time seeing Dr. Pollack. I got to say I was scared at first but she was actually really cool! Kinda funny and spoke some solid Spanish! I felt like I was chatting with someone else who spoke it. Her spanglish was cute. She's white too damn. She's cool. She is very thorough and will take the time to figure out what you have and what you can do. Thats why it takes forever. Lol. Shes the doctor thats usually there weekends and on call. And I see why. However if you want a quick in and out then she isn't the one for you. Dr. Alb is, the female Alb (i'm fairly new to this doctor's office i've only gone twice). What's cool is that you can see all of them if you wanted and they are covered under the same name, code whatever for insurance purposes. So that's cool. I love that they are familiar with Tricare insurance and they make sure the things they offer you or referrals are covered. Especially if you are on Tricare Prime like me. read more

Time to find another Dr. Dr. Polak has no respect for the patient's time. Waited over one and half hours to be seen. Watched the Dr meet with a sales person for over 40 minutes. The staff has no sympathy for the patients when they complain. The Dr. plan is to book as many appts so they can generate the most billing. Sounds to me she in in it for the money and not the patient care. By the way the Dr spent 5 minutes with the patient. read more

My appointment was for 1:30. I arrived at 1:10. I sat in the waiting room till 2:15 then was moved to another area where I sat for another 30 minute. Then I was place in the exam room where I sat till 3:00. Finally the Medical assistant came in and took my vitals. I was then told I would be next. At 4:00 I was still sitting. I then asked another assistant how much longer. Was told again I was next. All of this time Dr. Polak was walking back and forth pass the room I was in. At 4:30 I had finally had enough and got up and walked out. All at the same time still being told I'm next. I seen patients that came in after me leaving. All I needed was information from a test that I had. I was giving an appointment with her because my doctor was going to be out for some time. Okay, first of all... I was not seen by Dr. Polack, she's busy and was given to another MD - Dr. Gopeng and she's under the same clinic and physician group. I have an appointment 2pm, so I excused myself at work expecting that my appointment will be a quick one. The nurse checked my vital signs after 1 hour of wait. During the nurse interview about my medical history, he asked me if I had any surgery. And when I said cesarean section, he asked me if I was admitted to hospital or just an out patient? I was so shocked that I gave him a "wtf" stare and I almost want to walk out after hearing that from a colleague. I'm a registered nurse and I know how can it be frustrating about the wait.. I know how busy it can be.. but I expect that if I have an appointment, it would be on time or 15 mins late to be the most. What's the use of setting up an appointment time, if I'll be treated like a walk in?! I seldom write reviews and it's sad that I have to write one with bad rating about health care business especially it's close to my heart. Times like this I miss going back to sharp hospital. Only giving 2 stars because Dr. Gopeng seems to be nice and listens to all my health concerns and pretty much ordered all the laboratory and radiology test I requested. I like doctors that listens to nurses. read more

You probably had read other reviews that complaint about wait time. I couldn't agree more. I accompanied my parents to their appointment at 9:30 am and waited until 3:40 pm to be seen. What was the point of having appointment and could not see patients until 6 hours later? This has happened on every appointment with the shortest wait time of 3 hours and the longest of 6 hours in this case. This doctor is unempathetic and careless in her diagnosis. She completely and carelessly misdiagnosed my dad's condition which made his condition much worse and delayed proper treatment by months. The doctor he went to after months of pain was appalled by the completely inaccurate diagnosis. A doctor's first order is to do no harm, but this woman did far more harm than one person should have the power to. ---edit--- It wasn't until I posted this review that I saw my old post about this doctor and my mother's experience. This woman hasn't improved one bit since four years ago. I hope she reads these reviews and reflects on her negligent care. @Lucy Polak: Please retire--you're not doing anyone any good with the time you spend at the walk-in clinic. You're preying on the most vulnerable people who need immediate care because their conditions are severe. read more

Clearly from my original review, I wish I could give negative stars. The update is that my mother in law went to this office to get test results. RESULTS. They made her wait FOUR HOURS. When she firmly said she had to get home, Pollack came out and sat her down right by the secretary and spoke to her condescendingly like a child. And she had to wait longer. How this woman is still in business is beyond me. There are other doctors within a mile of her that are so much better! I know medicine is a practice, but so are manners, office management, and human decency, you dim-witted slack-tard! ...oops, I might need s'more practice. read more

This doctor's office is so unprofessional. I got there at 11:45 AM and had an appointment scheduled for 12 PM. I was not seen until 4:35 PM. No exaggeration. But apparently if you complain and yell and say you're going to leave, then they will find a way to sneak you in. You might even be seen before all of the other people that have been patiently waiting! Then, when the doctor does come around, she is that type of doctor that is in and out of the office in mere minutes. I was rushed and she didn't even get my whole story. Now let's talk about the staff. RUDE. Unbelievably rude. I asked for clarification on a lab order, and the gentleman at the front said "do you want me to tell you in spanish? I already told you in english." AWFUL OFFICE, AWFUL DOCTOR. Do yourself a favor, do your research before you end up at a place like this. read more

This has been my second visit to Dr. Polak's office and I had a great experience once again. I was first greeted by Alyssa (she was kind and respectful not anything to how some other comments have made out the receptionist to be), and she asked what my visit was for since I was a walk-in. After the initial routine check in, I was promptly directed to the walk-in clinic where I was going to be getting my vaccine. In the walk-in clinic, there were some people waiting but they were in and out fairly quick. After 20 minutes, a nurse, Marie, called me in and gave me my shot. The receptionist, the nurse and Dr. Polak, which came briefly to see if I had any further questions about the vaccine following up from the last visit to her office, were very kind, friendly and answered any questions I had. I have not been Dr. Polak's patient for a long time, but the two times that I have gone (the first time there was a massive amount of people and even though I was a walk-in and I was still attended quickly, about a 30 minute wait; the second time there were less people and my whole doctors visit was over in about 30 minutes), I have been treated kindly, respectfully and the people there are very friendly as well, and from reading other reviews apparently people have had long wait times. It seems like the wait time issue has been addressed. Personally, I would recommend this family practice. I like it more than any other doctor's office I have been to. read more

I have never been treated so poorly. Twice, I was left to wait for 3 hours. One associate I went to see, left me waiting for 2 1/2 and then I was told the doctor couldn't see me. If you have a chronic condition or elderly or have parents that are elderly stay away from this Dr....my mother really liked Dr. Polack....I did not like the 5 to 8 hours my mom waited every visit. What does a diabetic patient have to do? Starve all day to be seen by a Dr? And the issues that came up on her prescription refills for her much needed insulin. What Dr does not return calls to fill prescriptions!!.... even calling them in early didn't help!....When my mom developed breast cancer it took forever to hear from this Dr, my mom was diagnosed in February and got a run around until May by then my mom's lump went from the size of a tiny egg to a softball!!! I had to go in there and I waited with my mom from 9 to 5 to see this woman and see what was going on? When we got in to see her I showed her the cancer on my mother's breast. Had she forgotten about her? The Dr started making phone calls and yelling at whoever answered for not picking up the phone right away and making her wait 3 rings. Really???....The nerve...And then when I asked her to fill out some papers for me to turn into my employer in case I needed time off to help my mom she told me to bring them back the next visit... Oh wow......After we had been there all day long and it was 5 o clock and she was wanting to leave....So disappointing ..I left the papers for her and she never filled them out for me. Thank God my mom did well and I did not need to take time off from work. This woman likes to blame everyone else for her unorganized office that has 2 waiting rooms packed with people. ..My mom had a mastectomy and is cancer free and we have moved on to better Drs who make sure her lab results, prescriptions and tests are all taken care of and do not make her sit on hard chairs all day long waiting for a brief 15 minutes of this is all your fault BS . This woman rates 0 stars for me. She overbooks Big-time which dimenishes her ability to practice good quality care for people...Such a scary experience that still has me bewildered that she has a license in healthcare. Dr.Polak if you are reading this....Please get over yourself......Lucy! ... read more

dude!.. wtfo?.. dido on the 2 hour wait! I took my dad in and I waited over two hours!.. I commented the marathon wait to my sister and guess what?, she waited over two hours also when she had taken our dad in on a previous visit!.. here's the kicker!, this doctor took the liberty and removed medication off dads regiment that his cardiologist prescribed! would have been ok but the problem is that she did not consult dads cardiologist!.. my sister emailed cardiologist and cardiologist was surprised and wanted to see my dad ASAP to make sure he is ok. I fear that some doctors feel superior to the poor and "under-educated" and/or those on medicaid/ medicare -like my poor dad- and believe they can do what they want with no regard or respect for their time! But they sure do like billing that Medicaid/ Medicare insurance! they like getting paid and likely overbook without regard for ones time! read more

Polak Lucy, MD - mi no like! - Family Practice Near Me - Chula Vista, California

This Doctor's office is the worst office i have ever encountered. I had to take a filipino elderly relative of mine who's like a grandmother, to see her, since her old doctor went on a one year medical mission to Cuba, and she was stuck with Dr. Polak for her insurance. First, the parking is ridiculous in 480 4th Ave, Scripps Clinic, you have to fight for parking and the drop off/pick up passenger zone is constantly jammed. Second, when you get inside you are force to wait HOURS, maybe even a whole day in our case even with an appointment. Apparently this WEST* CHULA VISTA clinic takes in a lot of Medicare, Medi-Cal patients and patients without health insurance, as well as walk in patients who come in as urgent care who don't have health insurance for only $25/visit. The doctor will answer several patient phone calls in front of you during the visit and may pull up their information, what, is that the correct standard? damn, this clinic takes so long to see a doctor, its longer than the DMV lines or even the lines on a black friday sale. you''ll get better response at a Detroit emergency room. The front staff don't care about you, their just here to get paid, and they always say "we'll be right with you and smile" like its okay to wait till lunch and their whole shift to a doctor. they triple book the appointments and when your appointment is 9am, it means 2pm! Older people may have the time to wait all day and sit around sick people they rather stick to this doctor because they don't want to change and deal with all the paperwork dilemmas, or they have no choice and must stay due to their health coverage. But if you have a choice go someplace else unless you want to wait, by the time they see you, you may already have passed out. read more

This is the absolute WORST doctor's office I have ever had the displeasure to be seen at. To start parking is terrible and that's an understatement... I have been there at 8 am 12 pm 3 pm... you name it and every single time I cannot find parking for 15-20 minutes and90% of the time I end up having to park at a completely different hospital and walk there. That's not a huge deal but when I'm going to the doctor it means I don't feel good I don't want to hike a mile to get there, plus think of all the elderly people. Second, you cannot get on the phone with them. TWICE this week when I had to call I was on hold for over 15 minutes... what o earth is going on there? Third, they lost results to my pap (or never sent them so I had to get it redone which they assured me " wasn't a big deal"... well I'm the one getting a speculum put into me so I'l make that judgement. Fourth, they take FOREVER to freakin' refill prescriptions I had my pharmacy call them a month before my prescription was due and I still got it late and one of the times that I called I asked if my pharmacy had faxed over a paper and the secretary said "no" and hung up! Fifth, I wanted one piece of medical history.. just a copy of my last physical faxed to a military doctor for me and they said they couldn't and that they couldn't print it out and give it to me (bullshit) and made me pay 15 dollars for my whole medical history instead of printing one page... Sixth, and finally, between getting an irregular pap and getting a colpo I had to wait 3 months..because they " didn't have appointments". I have insurance.. and the building is full of doctor's offices and they "didnt have time" to give my indfo or refer me to another doctor. The only cool thing is that they have a pretty decent walk in clinic. read more

Dr. Lucy Polak was the worst health care experience I have ever seen in the medical field. Dr. Lucy Polak reply to me was " You Guys can leave" "Adios" "bye" "I'm going in patient order" I can not believe Dr. Lucy Polak had spoken to us like that. My appointment was at 2:30 and I'm still waiting to see the doctor at 6:00. If I make an appointment I expect to be on time, that's my part of the contract. I also expect the other person to be on time or very close to it. It isn't because there are many patients because there aren't. I feel they owe me my hourly fee per hour for the wait. If you come here bring a phone charger, mine's almost dead. I finally got out of there at 7:00. read more

This doctor needs to RETIRE! Her nurse let me know that she's older and that she'll be a bit slower but FOUR hours is too long. I could have easily gone to an emergency room and been treated. There are too many other doctors within this radius to wait for this sloth. Have you seen Zootopia? This woman is the sloth from the DMV. I am done with SCripps! They are horrible or at least this office is. The doctors are unprofessional, the wait times are outrageous, and the assistants even suck.
