He charged me $750 to remove the intake manifold and starter, which I agreed to in hopes that he would identify the issue with my car. After a day and a half, I received a text saying my engine was seized and would need to be replaced. This was confusing because, during the initial diagnostic, he told me the issue was electrical. I don't believe he even used the proper tool to manually turn the crankshaft. I had my car towed back home, and yesterday I checked over the work myself. I found missing bolts, loose bolts, missing coolant hose clips, and the intake manifold was installed incorrectly--with a coolant hose pinched between the manifold and the alternator. I essentially had to undo everything I paid him to do just to inspect what else was missing or improperly reinstalled. Wires were left exposed and not put back into their plastic sheathing. For $750 in labor, plus $150 for the diagnostic, I expected a much higher level of care, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship. Unfortunately, what I received was far from professional, and I'm left disappointed and frustrated that I now have to fix the very things I paid someone else to do. I don't expect any kind of partial refund or apology, as that would only imply accountability for what I've outlined above.

Taking "The Brick" to a standard shop isn't cost effective as they have to spend a considerable amount of time trying to figure out what the previous mechanic had done and why. Christopher is a rare breed of mechanic. He is intuitive, thorough and quick. He clearly loves what he does and it shows in the quality of his work. In the process of changing a valve cover gasket, he found loose bolts that a previous "mechanic" had not tightened down properly. A standard shop guy would not have even checked those bolts and would have caused a very expensive repair or complete engine replacement. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his service to anyone.
