The process was…read moresupposed to take two days - I had assumed two consecutive days but was later told the roof and the metal work would be two different teams and would occur at separate times. Nothing was done correctly. The installation team had trash blowing everywhere including my neighbors' yards. Moreover, there were numerous shingles that were damaged when they were installed and later replaced during follow-up visits. There were so many issues, I questioned going ahead with the gutters and downspouts but was assured the metal team was great. I decided to give DePalma the benefit of the doubt but was let down again because the gutters leaked from day one and the downspouts were installed with the outlets inches from the foundation. I lost track of how many visits DePalma made to "look at" and fix things but I have at least 14 emails back and forth to Amber along with pictures of problems I encountered. Each time someone came to the house, there were nails or screws left in the driveway or on the street. I will say that DePalma was extremely responsive to my emails and requests for follow-up but I don't think the issues I had would have occurred if the teams were professional and conscientious in the work they did. I grimace every time I see one of DePalma's signs saying they're the most trusted roofing company in central PA because I would never recommend them. At the conclusion of this escapade - which lasted from 2023 into 2024 - I received a $500 discount from the total project estimate. I appreciated that but money wasn't the issue. I wanted peace of mind by purchasing a new roof and gutters and got aggravation and uncertainty instead.

Technician also showed me random photos from internet of Chimney stack (above roof) tops to explain issues with "crown" but did not show me pictures of my chimney. The work was still not complete by October and I was then contacted by Anderson's that they needed me to pay for parts up front. Again they were supposed to get back to me in August. On November 7th they came to repair the wood stove but broke the stove door's plate glass and took it to the shop for repair. They promised to return November 14th to install the repaired door. No one showed. When I called the office they blamed the technician. I then talked to the technician. He told me the replacement glass arrived broken and that it would have to be reordered. He said the admin staff should have called to inform me of the new delay. Then I talked to the office manager who said they would have to follow-up with ordering more glass since they hadn't yet done that! In summary, a job that was promised to be completed in August 2024 is still not complete as of November 16, 2024 and the company took my money up front. We were the first roof of the season and were very pleased with the crew that came. They removed two layers of shingles, and installed a quality Owen Corning system including the ridge vents and clean up work all the same day. When they left you could not even tell they were here except for a few marks where the ground was soft which no one could of avoided. They have the greatest lady on clean up that removed every last little piece of debris. Another really impressive way they do business was they did not even require any deposit! I found this very unusual on a construction project not to at least require something for the material purchase, but payment at once in full after satisfaction seems to be their forte. I have worked part of my life in machine shops, doing quality control with tolerances in the microns and also have built 4 homes myself with the exception of HVAC and masonry. I would of done this roof myself but my knees and age did not let me. Really am glad I found R E Kuba and I have already left several other friends know who to go for when they need a job done.

I could not do the work myself, so I first looked on Yelp for Handy Man services in my area and could not find anything that fit my requirements, so I used Angie's List. I found the Special and it was just what I needed. Jarred and Chris arrived 15-minutes early on the scheduled date. They were both professional and friendly. They were well-equipped with all the necessary tools to perform the tasks. In one installation, some of my parts were incompatible with the necessary bracket installation. However, they had compatible parts in their truck that they provided for the task at no additional cost to me. In addition, they had to use special drywall anchors to hold some of the brackets and shelves. They provided the special drywall anchors at no costs to me. Even though the service was for 3 hours, they finished in less than 2 hours. They were perfectionists, too.
