Let's face it, if there's one thing we collectively dread, then that's a visit to the dentist. I…read moreavoid it like the plague! But when the pain in my molars got unbearable I had to book an appointment. I thought I'd try out this one because it's so close to home. It's a clean, professional practice. I couldn't help but notice how attractive the female staff were, who all seemed incredibly glamourous. I was seen by Dr Johal. He seemed to be more engaged in banter with his assistant than paying much attention to the patient in the chair - me! I went in complaining about pain in one tooth, I was told I need a filling in four teeth in all four corners of my mouth! It was ever so pricey so I settled for just the one filling, which he offered immediately. The pain reduced significantly but still shocks me from time to time.

I used to be a huge fan of this Dental Center when I lived in the UK and had a lot of work done as a private patient, meaning cash out my pocket as was not an NHS patient. Staff were always friendly, dentists and hygienist were great! Had to have a root canal. However, I have now gone to my American dentist who has said that the root canal never went the full length of the root which is now causing problems and needs redoing. In addition the amalgam used to fill was left jagged in between the teeth which is causing problems. It will now cost me just a little under 6k to have these amateur mistakes fixed. On top of it when I request to have my x-Rays and records forwarded on to my home dentist they want to charge me. Just really appalled and disappointed at the whole thing. Will be making a formal complaint, contacting the regulating body and ombudsman and possibly getting my solicitor involved. I feel they should entirely reimburse me for the mistakes!

I know, I can't give 5 stars to a dentist because of the nature of the business but 4 stars is…read morepretty high. The reason, because this place actually helps you to prevent having treatment. They are full of advice; in fact I realised that the reason I've had fillings in recent years, when I really don't eat an awful lot of sweets (except for cinema treats) is because I'm not brushing correctly. It turns out, just brushing thoroughly for 2 whole minutes twice daily and flossing does the trick. It's the first check I remember when I had not treatment, not even a little tiny filling. Mr Rooprai, who I see always remembers conversations (a bit like a hairdresser) does and we talk about me travels during the 2 minutes I have before he starts checking my teeth. He's also full of humour and they always have the radio on which relaxes me just a bit. Highly recommended if you can get in as a NHS patient.

It's a nicely decorated and rather soothing place and the staff seem friendly. I've popped in a few times with my Mom - she needed a bit of moral support following an unfortunate incident with a boiled sweet (she had to have root canal treatment...which is as horrible as it sounds) but really, I wasn't needed as the procedure was pretty straight forward and the Dentist who treated her just the right mix of professional and soothing. There's also a good selection of reading material - Hello, Okay and other glossies that I only ever read in waiting rooms and are a bit of a guilty pleasure!

I have always had two front teeth that crossed over, so decided to do something about it by getting…read morea fixed brace with smile stylist in Manchester. The staff are lovely and the cost seemed reasonable for long lasting straight teeth. After seeing Sandeep (the owner) I was re assured that if I followed their advice and guidance I would have straight two front teeth for life. I could see the difference after a few months of wearing my fixed brace, although it was a pain being in my late twenties and wearing a brace 24/7, eating and cleaning the brace etc, I wanted my two front teeth the be straight so knew it would all be worth it in the end. And it was! When I got my fixed brace off after about 8 months I felt amazing and like a new women, I loved my straight two front teeth and Sandeep placed a permanent wire retainer in the back of my teeth (this was not visible) and I was told this would keep my two front teeth in place. However two weeks later while eating half of it pinged out of my mouth! So I went back to Sandeep and he said the shape of my mouth meant a wire retainer would not stay. So I was given a plastic retainer and told to wear this every night and my teeth would stay in place. So here I am two years later and my two front teeth are crossing over again! I have been into smile stylist and called a few times and spoken to Gemma,to ask what I should do, should I get another retainer? (At an additional cost of £70 to me) the mould they have for my mouth is where my two front teeth don't cross, so they could order me one, but if I doesn't fit I have wasted £70! And I was told I could get a new mould of my mouth made, but that will be of my mouth now where obviously my two front teeth are crossing again. When I've asked Gemma how I can make sure my front teeth go straight again she has suggested more treatment e.g another brace So all in all I have paid a lot of money and worn a fixed brace for 8 months only for my two front teeth to temporarily be straight, now I look at them everyday and think the money and time I spent at smile stylist was for nothing. So I am looking at either spending more money on my two front teeth, or accepting that these will not be straight, as you can imagine both situations I am not happy with at all The staff are lovely here, but it all comes down to to treatment and mine didn't last.

Most dentists get you to say 'aaah', this one made me think 'hmmm'…read more Perhaps it was the fact that I'd accidentally ended up having a load of treatment at a private dentist, but my expectations of dentistry came crashing down with a bump when I landed in the waiting room of Sandon Dental Practice. Needing an NHS dentist, this was the first place I'd seen and needing a cure for desperately painful toothache. Through a haze of paracetomol and the vile mood toothache ensures, I saw that the place was in the middle of a refurbishment, which was hopefully to smarten up the tired looking interior (a contrast to the well-kept exterior). But who gives a toss about a waiting room when you're in absolute agony?! So let's get onto the service. The dentist I saw to cure my pain was soon suggesting £500 worth of root canal surgery and a crown - money which I didn't (and still don't) have, so I took the antibiotics he offered in the meanwhile and that calmed the pain down for a few months. Something didn't sit quite right about this dentist, a hunch which I feel was validated when I sought a different NHS dentist and he told me that no amount of root canal surgery would save said tooth and would be in vain. I'm not questioning the Sandon dentist's integrity, just reporting two different opinions.

This Practice has never failed me in any of the treatments I have received and I have received nothing but efficient, professional and friendly service. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sandon Dental Practice. Keep up the excellent standards. Mike R.
