Gold City Roofing performed major repair work on an older home that our organization owns…read moreoverlooking the ocean. The roof had several leaks and the facia had rotted away. Once they pulled the shingles the rot in the plywood and eaves was clearly extensive. We are impressed at how quickly Gold City was able to replace all the damaged wood and how well the repairs were completed. Afterwards, the workers performed a thorough clean up all around the house, the gutters and parking area. Our organization owns a large number of commercial facilities including homes and hotels and we have detailed tracking of average expenses for a project like this, Gold City's quote and final invoice for all this work was well within our expectations. Based on their communication from start to finish, their team's professionalism in all aspects and the final result for a very fair price, I highly recommend Gold City Roofing.

He told us he's going to make it right and even sent people out to assess the damage and determine what it would take to remove the staining from the ceiling. This dragged on forever; in the meantime, additional rainstorms showed that they had not properly flashed around the skylights. They did fix those issues, including replacing one of the skylights at no cost. But the ceiling issue was never resolved. It dragged on for years, and we tried to be understanding and patient. We heard claims that the insurance company would be involved to help rectify. Nothing came of it, and our texts were soon ignored. The ceilings are still water-stained.

He began by…read moreemailing me back strictly "send building plans for estimate" as the subject of an email with nothing else. Then he calls me and proceeds to tell me that "contractors don't like to work with owners as generals" to that I replied with "well, we have been trying to find a general, but it was too far above our budget to include that as well". Then he proceeded to ask questions, which is fair, but in a condescending tone and with zero respect. Once I sent him our approved plans, he sent a list of aggressive questions without any context or having bothered to look at our plans. I was ready to give our business to this company, but could not believe how he was interacting with me. I'm sure he expected a man to answer the phone and when it was a woman, he felt that he could speak to me however he pleased. I hope he learns from this experience and treats potential customers with more respect next time.

McGinnis Restoration and Construction were contracted to repair and restore an upstairs bathroom…read morethat had leaked into the downstairs bathroom causing damage in both. The drywall repair was horrible and did not match the rest of the room. The painters did not do a good job of matching the paint color nor the level of gloss. They came out a second time and did an even worse job of painting, not to mention that they painted halfway up other walls that were not damaged, and even into another room that was not involved. They got paint on the floors, the commodes, and light switches. I took photos and sent them to the project manager and he said he would send them out again, he even came by to look at it. The painters were "sick" the next time they were scheduled to come out, and when I reached out again, I was told they were way behind. They never returned. Additionally, we had another leak from the bathroom upstairs down the wall of the downstairs bathroom. Again, I took photos and sent them to the project manager. The plumber came by and cut a hole in the drywall and could not find a cause for the leak other than the fact that when the new tub was put in place, they did not put down any sort of sealant where the base of the tub should meet the floor. I contacted the project manager again. Our home was left in worse shape than the original leak.

Cody was super professional, walked me through options every step of the way, and gave practical/helpful advice. He went well beyond just replacing my roof and improving its integrity. Being new to the area, I did not know of any company in particular so reached out to different companies through an internet search. The owner of GRX Roofing, Gustavo, was one of the few that responded quickly. His quote was also very reasonable for not only the staining job but also for my gutters being cleaned and leaf guards being installed. From the beginning, he was very communicative every step of the way and always showed up on time as scheduled over the course of the 3 days for the 2 projects. I am very pleased with the outcome of his work and appreciative for his spotless cleanup. He also, as he worked, went above and beyond by doing some minor courtesy repairs such as re-caulking a window, as preventatives. I am now looking at having him build a deck for me in the near future. So, if you are looking for a conscientious and skilled professional contractor, who offers quality work at fair prices, I would highly recommend him. Carolyn S.
