After submitting a request thru their website (https://www.jamesroofingoregon.com/contact.html) Cody of James Roofing called and set up an appt to stop by for an estimate. Although I had other roofers out to our residence, Cody was the first to notice some cracking/peeling of some paint near the gutters that he suspected some ongoing leaking was the cause. Just a quick investigation proved he was right, and he gave a couple proposals on how they might resolve that during the reroofing process. We chose to go with James Roofing because of the options they offered in shingle grades, and once we had a bid with both the 'better' and 'best' grade of Malarkey shingles, we were pleasantly surprised at how little extra the best grade cost when compared to the more affordable grade, so we chose the Legacy (best) grade. Cody also asked many questions, including colors of flashing and peak cap styles we preferred, and that lead to a really nice look once the work was completed. Cody and crew arrived on the date he said they would, and quickly had the roof stripped and recovered with the new underlayment just in case any weather might move in. By lunch the first day they were loading bundles on the roof, then worked the next two days to install the shingles, flashing, and we even had them replace the gutters.... all which looks great! Once the work was done, the entire crew worked quickly to get any refuse picked up as well as blowing out any dust & granules that might be on the porches and sidewalks. Can't say enough about Cody, he runs a solid roofing business and we've discovered that he's also been the installer of choice for some of our neighbors as well as several friends & businesses in our area. I had a tree fall on my house during the February ice storm and it did a Lott of damage to my home. A friend of mine who had just had his roof replaced by James roofing reached out to them and Loren, from James roofing contacted me. The roof repair could not take place until the tree was removed, which took 10 days. Loren was not only concerned about the giant tree removal but that my house was protected from the elements. As soon as the tree was removed he was out and got it trapped until the replacement could be completed. Loren, Cody and their team did outstanding work as well as good communicators. James Roofing exceded my expectations. Cody came to look at the job and as we were talking I mentioned several concerns I had. He addressed those concerns and solved some problems. I received two bids and James Roofing got the job because of Cody of addressing my issues, and their bid was a little bit lower and it included the grade of roofing that the other bid offered but as an upgrade with an increased price. The crew that did the roof worked in a safe manner and seemed to be pretty effecient in their work. They cleaned up after themselves everyday they were here. We needed to bite the bullet and have a new house roof or learn to hop between the raindrops while watching television--so we decided James Roofing was better than hopping in place. They did a tremendous job replacing a big roof, rotted timbers and beams as well as removing strange architectural features left by the previous owner. And their price was less than I had budgeted for--always a nice little bonus! In addition they were pleasant to work with and we miss having them around. Cody and his Dad are a great team. They obviously plan the division of work before they arrive on site, so there is no standing around and chatting. They are all business, very professional, and know their job. They repaired ice storm damage on our metal roof, repaired 2 splintered rafters in the attic, took down the old damaged gutters and installed new continuous ones.
