Good dept store but prices a little higher than the Macys that is in the same mall next door

I don't often go to the mall but when I do I generally stop in at JC Penney because they have several departments which allow me to get just about anything from shoes/sneakers, men/women clothing, boys/girls clothing, home wares, bedding and more. The prices are usually very reasonable and every so often they provide discount coupons as well. My one gripe is that it seems to be they do not have enough cashiers to get you in and out but this is not too big of a deal. read more

I happen to like them. Alot. I think they offer much better value then Macy's. Stuff is less expensive. And the quality is there. I really hope this one stays in business. It is a really cool place to shop. Macy's maybe a bit flashier but they are also way pricier. With JC Penney they offer beautiful products and good value. Recommended. Hope they stay. read more

Lazy and unhelpful staff. If I had another option to return I would do it to avoid having to be in store with such miserable employees. And this is a reason the mall culture is barely hanging by a thread. read more

Associates work hard to keep store going. I am greeted every time I walk by a register.

Zero customer service skills. We were running a little behind due to traffic and called to say we're running late, is it okay? The lady who answered said it was fine as they were AN HOUR behind and to come home in and check in when we arrive. Well we did that, only for another employee tell us we had to be rescheduled to another day. We told her that is not what was said to us and all she said was they shouldn't have said that. We brought our 3 month out In the rain to get these photos done. The fact that they were an hour behind is ridiculous. I'm addition the employees were actively complaining in front of customers, with one employee mimicking shooting herself in the head. Completely unprofessional. read more

Horrible horrible horrible. We came for our kids photos to be taken. We made a 11:30 appointment. They warned us don't be late or we loose our appointment. Well they ran an hour and a half late. They tell you not to leave the photo area or you loose your place. Logic would say walk around our store and we will txt you when it is your turn. And doing this would even make jc penny more money. Instead all these parents are there for an hour and a half trying to keep their kids as calm as possible. I will never come back here again. read more

I love this store. I always find something super cute and at a great price. There are hardly any lines and the staff is friendly and very helpful. This store has the potential to be a truly horrid place but I've been on several occasions and its been delightful. Even my mom who despises shopping loves this store. I've gotten everything from a christening dress for my god daughter, matching sweaters for an ugly Christmas sweater party, suits for work and a winter coat for a trip to Iceland. I always come out with exactly what I need and the flow of the store is fast, well organized and clean. I've received multiple compliments on my JCP finds, one time someone thought I was rocking a C Wonder cardigan and an Anthropology dress this store is the best kept secret that buying and planning team should all get raises. read more

This is a review for the portrait studio. I went in the portrait studio without an appointment. I called and left a message a couple days ago but my call was never returned. I can see why. They were very busy. The girl at the desk was just checking all the voicemails and writing down call back numbers and the list was very long. I asked the girl if they could squeeze me in as Portrait Simple couldn't. She said they did have an opening available in about a half hour. I was so excited. I had to get to work soon and the girls were awesome. The session was punctual, and the pictures came out beautiful. I brought my son and my siblings there to be in the photos with me and the employee girls were so good at making my baby boy laugh and look at the camera. The girls did a great job and I will definitely go back and get my pictures taken there again. The only things I didn't like were the pictures aren't made available on the same day, and they don't tell you the price up front. Otherwise, it was a good experience. read more

What a day went to this store and was very dissapointed with the quality of costumer service...went to the hair salon and waited in line while the clerk was helping a costumer...took foreveramd infront of me was another employee from the same department. Buying this for her..while we are waiting to be helped..then she went behind the counter and started to text on her phone while we waited for what seems an eternity and she never bother to offer help...never in my life seen a JC Penney with such deplorable costumer service...store look like needs more employees n BETTER TRAINING...went to the men section and could not find any help...at all...when I went to pay for other items I bought had to wait in line for 30 minutes...I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THIS STORE AGAIN. read more

This review is for the HAIR SALON inside the JC Penney in the Trumbull mall. I was recently in Trumbull visiting family, and had a couple hours to kill. When I am home in San Diego I have my regular hair place that I get highlights and low lights at, but it is hard to find the time (not to mention it is TWICE the price in San Diego) to have them done often. On the off chance there was an opening at this salon, I stopped in and was told I could have a highlights/lowlights appointment within the hour. So I took a chance and booked it, not having seen any other reviews about the salon. Let me tell you, I am beyond happy with the results. "Susan" (Master stylist, don't know her last name) did an AMAZING job. I am obviously very picky about my hair color, and was actually a little nervous wondering how the color would turn out seeing someone who I had never used before. I actually like what Susan did BETTER than what I get in San Diego. The next time I find myself in Trumbull (which is at least 2x a year) I will DEFINTELY make an appointment at this salon if Susan is still there. read more

Had an appointment on Sunday, November 11th at 3pm. At check in I was told that all sessions were behind an hour. After a half hour, asked for an update and was still an hour behind. Decided to continue waiting because this was the only day and time that fit everyone's schedule. Ended up waiting an additional 2 hours for our session. After 5pm, I was finally called to take our portraits. The session was rushed and it reflected on the pictures. Pictures showed closed eyes and awkward poses. Talked to someone on the floor informing them that I was unsatisfied with the pictures and wanted a retake. They were so behind on other sessions and were not able to accommodate. They offered to reschedule but I did not want to because of how frustrated I was with the experience. I also refused to pay for the session because of what happened. I have been coming to Trumbull, CT for 5 years, however, due to my recent horrible experience I will be seeking out another studio to take our holiday portraits. read more

Asked for simply a haircut and the manager goes off on how you can't do anything with my dark hair. Completely degraded me in front of the whole salon. As unprofessional as it gets. Without permission touched my hair just to say how awful it looks. I never had an experience so terrifying. I nor anyone I know will step foot in this salon. Also, they tried to make me sign a consent form as if I was not scared enough. read more

Lines were long with only one cash register, I asked the floor manager (I think she was Indian name sandra) if she could assist with cashing out the customers in line who were complaining. She basically told me, she has a lot to do and is unable to help- she further stated that i should "get back in line". Mind you, i have a credit card with a $5000 spending limit.
