I try to catch it if I do self checkout, as I'll try to figure out the discounts and match them up, but if you go and scan in the line with a checkout person, forget it. The deli line is always super long, so if you need anything, order ahead of time, or put in the order immediately in the computer when you get there if you are going to be shopping for a while, else hop in line. I've also gotten lobster steamed here, usually it is good, but once, it didn't steam all the way, so it was half raw, but obviously I didn't know till I get home, so I didn't know what to do with it - do you just stick it back in the steamer and cook it even if it's half booked?

Review for the stop and shop gas station only!…read more My husband and I are working paycheck to paycheck and still dont make enough money for the second week before we are paid again. We buy gas alot because we drive for our jobs. We both work full time and he works a part time job. He went to stop and shop to bring back bottles to get extra money to get gas for work today. He went to the gas station, and the middle aged woman (white and thick) working in the booth, complained the whole time because my husband paid with coins. 3$ in quarters, 1$ in dimes, and another dollar in a mixture of nickels and quarters. The rest was dollar bills. She sighed and huffed and puffed, telling him this was the last time he could go there and pay in that amount of change because she had all these other customers She had to take care of. He was the only one in the line, everyone else was paying with card at the pumps. He's never paid with change like that before at that gas station so idk what her issue was. And then she complained about having to count it all. This is not okay. We are just living our lives trying to get by and scrape what little money we have just to go to work and do it all over again. I've been in customer service almost my entire life. This woman needs to be written up or something because that is not okay. Your job is to take any money, smile, count it and then sit back down on your ass and go the rest of your day without being such a bitch. We are not going back to that gas station.

The guy in the fish section was not that approachable and a bit rough on the edges. The guy in the grocey isle was healpful. The place is massive! Also very reasonably priced! The meats are frozen in a very organized white freezer with a map, in front of the wall refrigerators along the side, in front of the register. At first I kept bypassing this until I thought to ask one day. They also have a selection of fresh Asian greens! Really impressive. In recent months I've been shopping at Adams market in Milford occasionally. It's the closest…read moremarket, and I'm trying to do more of my errands by bike. With more experience at this market, I may give it even higher marks; we'll see. I'm posting a positive review today because I'm surprised at the low ratings from some reviewers here. Most of my shopping is fresh produce, and I've been satisfied with the quality and prices compared to other markets nearby. It's not as extensive a selection as some supermarkets, but this IGA store has a smaller footprint than some big chains in the area. I've been satisfied, for the most part, with the selection. And, frankly, I'm picky about fresh fruits and veggies. It offers fewer loss-leader discount deals than big chains, but that makes sense to me. It strikes me that the store has a higher ratio of actual food to junk food and nonfood products than the large chains; that seems like a good sign for a grocery store. I'm happy enough to keep returning instead of abandoning the bike for the car to pick up most of my groceries. For a specialty item (a particular cheese or tropical fruit needed for a recipe, e.g., or my favorite esoteric ice cream flavor), I may ask other members of the household to pick it up in their rounds. I'm still finding my way around the store, which isn't organized in a way that feels intuitive to me in every department. That said, it always takes a while to learn a market's layout well enough to navigate it on autopilot. Some other reviewers have mentioned milk being close to the pull date; I recommend asking for fresher milk. I buy only organic milk; the cartons of milk I've bought at Adams market have had plenty of shelf life left at purchase time and none of the milk spoiled before we finished it up. The milk seems to be stored appropriately in closed coolers that appear of recent vintage. Today's carton from the front of the rack said May 30, six weeks away. (For comparison: I've learned to look at the pull date because milk we've bought at the nearest Whole Foods has often, almost invariably, spoiled surprisingly fast. After nearly 100% spoilage of organic milk from Whole Foods for a period of about a year, our household stopped buying organic milk from that Whole Foods. [Yeah, I know. What took us so long?] The milk there often seems too close to the pull date. Perhaps our spoilage experience is because at Whole Foods the milk is stored in open dairy cases where it can't possibly stay below 40 degrees at all times.) I recommend reporting problems at Adams to the manager, who has been willing to listen to my suggestions and comments. It's especially worth providing feedback at this moment when many new customers are trying the Adams market because of the strike at Stop & Shop. I've had no reason to lodge a complaint so far, but I'd guess the manager would listen politely, at the very least, based on his attitude when I've approached him. If you prefer not to speak up in person, the website has a contact form where you can send feedback. So far my experience with the mostly young checkout clerks has been mixed, as others have reported. Some have been pleasant and attentive, some cheerful but preoccupied with interacting with one another at the moment I came along. Today's clerk seemed unhappy and disinterested; for the most part he declined to engage with me as a human being. I so prefer having a human checkout clerk to a machine that I'm willing cope sometimes with a young person who hasn't yet grown into the job. Other staff have bene helpful when I've needed one & one happened to be nearby. I'll keep going back. And I'll update this review if more visits tilt me one way or the other.

Whole Foods - Milford, CT (Holiday Family Meal Review) I…read morecan't believe I almost forgot to mention this, but Whole Foods Milford absolutely deserves another shout-out for their holiday family meals. They offered two options for the holidays -- salmon or chicken -- and we went with the salmon meal, which was priced at $29.99. For that price, you get five pieces of salmon, string beans, and roasted sweet potatoes, all fully cooked and ready to heat up. Let me be clear: this meal was excellent. The salmon was flavorful and well-prepared, the sides were solid, and everything tasted fresh. It was incredibly convenient, especially during the holidays when cooking a full meal can feel like a lot. Just heat it up and you're good to go. For the price, the quality, and the portion size, this was more than worth it. The only tiny reason it's not a perfect score is personal preference -- I would've loved an additional side like rice -- but honestly, that's not even a real complaint. Rating: (4.8 out of 5) Affordable, convenient, and delicious. I would absolutely purchase this holiday meal again.
