My girlfriend and I are walking distance from this establishment. Have been for almost 5 years now. We love Carons Corner for all the fresh produce and butcher products around. Seafood was spectacular, locally sourced and FRESH every time. Until recently... Apparently this place has switched ownership, and it shows. There used to have a fresh assortment with a variety of butcher products (filet mignon, fresh wild salmon, chicken breasts and wings, etc..) and now it's 40 lbs. of assorted pork tenderloins... Abysmal. The deli fresh meal assortments? Cut in half... all so they can sell tobacco products in a local market. Disgusting. Bring back the old Carons Corner, or lose all local support.... read more

I love this store. Of course the prices are higher than chain stores, but it's worth it to me when I have to grab just a couple thing and can avoid a long wait. I agree that the woman at the deli is very rude, which is why I can't give 5 stars. I just avoid her. I've been in town less than a year and except for the deli, everyone else has exhibited excellent customer service. My next closest store os Big Y where 95% of the employees respond with impatience or sarcasm if you dare ask a question. I also feel comfortable that Caron's encourages masking whereas at Big Y I've witnessed employees and customers exhibit and engage in anti- mask discussions publicly. read more

For the 2nd time in one week the deli "help" was just unbelievably rude. The first visit the woman was making something for another customer that took a few steps so she comes up to me and asks, "do ya need something quick?"No greeting. The 2nd visit (today) They just completely ignored me. Just as I was getting ready to ask if the deli was open (sarcastically) I was helped. I tried again to support this store and I just can't anymore. Everyone is RUDE. Young staff members are even rude. I think this stems from the owners. Rudeness can not be tolerated. I love this local grocery store. Produce and meat are fresh, they have a nice deli counter, and the selection is pretty comprehensive, considering the space. They stayed open throughout the pandemic, which was a great service to the town of Branford. And they are convenient -- right in town. Finally, the employees are wonderful. Lots of local high school kids, supervised by capable adults. It is wonderful to have a local, family owned business in town. read more

I don't find the people rude as mentioned in some reviews and also that a person that wrote about the small sandwich and don't look too small to me the store is clean the only complaint I have is the produce you have to check the dates sometimes some of the stuff is beyond usable day. Produce is not fresh, I will not be returning. Yesterday was the last straw. Purchased Olivia's Organic Spinach price rag of 6.99 was deliberately put over expiration date. When I got home I pulled off price tag to discover the spinach had expired 5 days earlier. Very shady business practice. Since posting before after a disappointing experience, I continue to support this local grocery store. Produce department is greatly improved, you can find things like baby bok choy and other Fruits and vegetables beyond just the basics.Everything is stocked really well, everything is clean and Covid careful. Great place to do your grocery shopping, clean store and nice people

They have a very good deli counter in the back. All their sub sandwiches are great. Their prepared foods aren't bad either. And lately I've been on a kick to pick up their cannoli's.They're surprisingly very good. I recommend getting the chocolate coated ones because the uncoated ones are a little soggy. $2.99 for two are a bargain. See photo. Only in New Haven county can you find good cannoli's at some no name corner market. Other than that, I really don't have a reason to get much anything else. I might pick up towel paper or some bare essentials if I need them, but prices are slighter higher than a supermarket. That's to be expected. Most of the girls at the cash register are super cute and friendly. So for guys, that might be reason enought to try this place. This food mart serves the local community well. Mostly it's people traveling back and forth from Pine Orchards and Indian Neck. read more

I really gave this place more tries than I should have. Today was the last straw. I admit, I have high customer service standards. I told the manager I thought making a customer wait so you could have a discussion with your deli employee, about another employee, which clearly is not a discussion for the floor, was not right. She was very nice about it. Nonetheless, I skipped the deli and went on my way. As I made my way back to the dairy section I see the deli employee looking at me, whilst being stopped by another employee, telling me to "Get the f*ck out". The other employee pushed him in a back room, thankfully. As I left, I told the manager what her employee said. She was shocked, as were the 2 cashiers. What he said was disgusting and truthfully, scared me. I will never give this store any more money and I will be sure to tell anyone who does shop there this story. read more

I have shopped at Carons Corner for years and I always believe in shopping local especially now with covin. But after today I'm not sure I will be back, I spend almost 300 dollars a week, it's not fancy you pay a little more but it WAS worth it. Not after today when a bold headed man decided he needed to dress down a one legged VET in front of Customers over recycling cans and my failure to throw my boxes out. I asked him politely where I could throw the out or recycling them but he said that was my issue. He then smugly informed me he was the owner (which I knew) and didnt care if I ever came back. How rude. After checking out I tore my boxes up and found a recycling bin. I have had run ins with he before over my service dog, handicap parking which he is non-compliant. I never want to jam a small business up but this guy should not own a customer facing business or at a minimum hind him in a cooler read more

It's really a traditional corner market with a great deli. The staff is helpful and friendly, always nice- they know your name and what you do and do like. I do my daily shopping here on the way home from work. Occasionally, I'll get a tuna sub or one of the vegetarian option soups from the deli too. They have eliminated the need for me to go out of my way to a large supermarket more than once every couple of weeks. read more

A great family owned and operated corner market. We've lived down the street my whole life and go in there 4-5 times a week easily! They know their customers And are very polite and helpful. The deli is great, they have a great selection of prepared foods and staple products. Everything I've ever got from here is fresh. Prices are a little more pricey then a big chain store but you are paying a little more but saving a trip across town and your supporting a local small business and the quality of products and service is much better. They also tend to be open during/right after most bad storms in the winter when no one else is. read more

We often go there wheb we are downtown and need milk or something. Caron's is great for everything EXCEPT fresh produce. On several occasions I've purchased veggies there to find that they were very close to rotten, rotten or begin spoiling within 12 hours of purchase. I only buy veggies there if I need something fast. Gross little place with greedy, miserable owners. That would all be tolerable if the products they sold weren't over priced and mostly out of code. The convenience of this store is great, however I wish that they would step up their service, selection, and cleanliness. It seems inappropriate that there are always managers or an owner around the register, but that even when there is a line they do not offer to ring you up at the next register. Big problem at check out. They "FORCE" you to choose debit,you can't choose "CREDIT" on your OWN CARD!!! Still checking the legality of that. Asked at my bank they said NO ONE can FORCE you to choose debit. Their explanation is, that they don't want to pay the fee??? OK, so your customer should???? attitude is if you don;t like it, go somewhere else! think it stinks, there is a large population of elderly in the neighborhood, so you would rather these older individuals on a fixed income, take a fee hit, after they already shopped in your little corner store and paid the higher price??? Doesn't sound like good customer service to me. Having my lawyer check into this policy, sounds like it is their own "made up" policy. thumbs down! read more

I have been going to Caron's Corner for 16 years as long as I have lived in Branford. It has been a great store for running in & grabbing stuff in a pinch. Way over priced & you need to look at the expiration dates on everything you buy. After 16 years you would think that the owners & staff would recognize me as a frequent customer. They have never said hello to me or asked if I needed help with anything. I have had to be the one to make eye contact & say hello & ask for help. I agree with the other posts regarding the customer service & the food quality being sketchy at times. If another little grocery store came into town they would have some serious competition. Unpatriotic and horrible service. The manager wouldn't accept my military ID for an alcohol purchase. Who does that? Been serving this country for almost 2 decades and have never had a problem. I could understand if I was a young kid, but also to question my integrity is disgusting. He identified himself as the manager and the younger kids in the area looked ashamed. Wouldn't let my kids work there or within a 500 yard radius. It's dirty inside and there is horrible service. Just go somewhere else and get better service. Last time I ever go there! If you fit in a certain demographic, you probably think this review is crazy and you will continue to shop there. For everyone else, go and see for yourself....or not. Zero stars for not accepting an active duty service member's ID. 2 thumbs down. Good thing I have options in this great country that I serve. Onward to Stop and Shop. I have to agree with the posts on quality and deli service. I try not to stop there because I am often disappointed. The produce has a very short shelf life. I unfortunately don't have much confidence in any perishables from Caron's. They do have good stuffed breads, but I wouldn't go out of my way just for that. They are also very expensive.
