Since my car was parked near the JCPenney's I figured I'd take a look around. LOTS of sales going on. LOTS of things with bright red signs. I looked through some of the merchandise and saw that a lot of it was current, much of it was decently made. Everything looked pretty stylish, but on the first floor the racks were so close together, it was hard to manuever around. The 2nd floor where the lingerie and plus wear wasn't much better. But at least you could get around a little better. Nice store over all. read more

Good spot to pick up some business-like work clothes at a great price on sale. I had overlooked it but found them to have acceptable work pants of the Worthington brand 1/2 off. The quality is quite decent, definitely better than most stores will offer for that price, so it's nice to know they have not become negligent about the quality. As far as the sales associate, they didn't actually try to sale you anything and pretty much left you to yourself. The dressing room was easy to get to, there was no check-in or limit what you could take in there for try-ons. read more

JCPenney has never been a fashion forward department store and there is nothing wrong with that. My gripe with JCPenney is that the quality of their products has gone downhill. I used to purchase all of my bedding, bathroom towels, and other household goods from JCPenney. The store offered several reasonable priced dependable brands that I could rely on, but over the years the store has dropped those brands in exchange for cheap, unreliable products. Many other JCPenney locations have been renovated and feature Sephora make up counters and Seattle's Best Coffee cafes. This department store in Westshore Plaza has never renovated since I moved to Tampa in 2000 and the store desperately needs a facelift. The women's dressing rooms smell musty and most of the locks on the doors are broken. The store is always unorganized and in a state of disarray. If the store is holding a sale items are usually not marked clearly. Most recently I made a purchase on JCPenney's website and I could not be more displeased with my purchase. The bathroom trash cans I ordered were defective so that neither of the lids would fit on top of the cans and I had to return them. The shower curtain I ordered was also returned. The fabric was really cheap looking. I also ordered sheets for our bed and I was shocked at how cheap and crappy these sheets are. The sheets are supposed to be 700 thread count, but they are super thin and I imagine these sheets will go in the garbage by next year. The only reason I am not returning the sheets is because I already washed them. The only positive thing I can say about my purchase is that JCPenney did not hassle me on either occasion when I returned these items I recently ordered. In the future I will be purchasing my bedding and other household needs from Macy's. read more

Bigger isn't always better. I am normally a huge fan of JCPenney. I think it's really underrated...they have lots of nice basics and always great prices. This JCP was no different except the general condition of the store. I usually go to the one in Tyrone and I love it because they have little "shops" for each of the brands JCP offers. It's clean, open, and pleasant to shop at. This JCP is a lot bigger. However, it hasn't been renovated in a while and all of the clothes are just on racks with little organization. What was most shocking was the state of the shelves and fitting rooms. Sweaters were seemingly thrown on the tables, and a whole table of shorts looked like it was knocked over and haphazardly picked up. The fittings rooms were in disarray. The carpet was nasty and there was so much clothes left in the fitting room. I know JCP isn't the fanciest store, but this one was so disorganized. They still had nice selection, good deals, and friendly staff, but it was just a mess. I'll probably be back because they have a larger selection than other JCPs in the area. Men's department has cheap jackets and suits. They looked cheap. I would love every bargin to look like a $500 jacket, and cost me $150. These were $70 jackets that looked like they were $70 jackets. Larger sizes looked even worse, and the colors were off. The service was absolutely abysmal. Now when I go to a place like this I don't expect the finest service. Its a discount place, and I expect price will dictate the my interaction with salesperson will be limited. The salesman in mens when he did help, it was less helpful than leaving me alone. When I ask for a navy blue blazer don't show me a beige jacket or a patterned jacket in the wrong size. Generally when I have come here, service was substandard in other departments. They do have stuff to buy, and the prices are good. read more

This JCPenney is everything you would expect it to be. The store is neat and the floor plan is well laid out. On the day that I went, their were fantastic sales going on. My husband wanted a particular pair of jeans but could not find the jeans in his size. The clerk kindly called another store and asked them to hold the jeans after she checked on-line. She went "above and beyond" in assisting us and made our shopping experience top-notch. read more

The employees at the Westshore Plaza store are and have always been extremely professional, caring, and happy people. They genuinely enjoy what they do. Interaction with their customers prove it. I'm from Tampa and have been shopping at this location since day one of their opening. The store has A LOT of items to fit everyone's wants/needs along with plenty of customers who shop there. If you can show me a staff that can keep up with its customer base then it's this store. Nothing is perfect so if you find a few garments in the dressing room then give them a break. At least you don't have them pecking at you under your feet while hounding you every step of the way during you're shopping experience. When you do need their help the employees are easy to locate and have always thoroughly assisted us in whatever we've needed. Their displays are beautifully done, attractive, helpful, and clean, too. I've never worked there or know anybody who does/has but I am a long time, happy customer who can depend on this JC Penney when in need of something. read more

I used to love this store, but now rarely go into it anymore, unless I'm looking for shirts. They rarely have my sizes and what they do have is a very poor selection and isn't priced very well. I hate to say it, but I'd rather go to Sears or Walmart at time to get these clothes. I do like that they have a wide variety of shirts with just about color you can think of and they also have a large tie selection. I will continue to shop here for shirt, but not pants or suits. read more

I came to JCPENNY after going to Macy's and finding a few things that may work but weren't 100% sure on. My friend was looking for a nice ball dress for a black tie affair. When we walked into JCP no one greeted us, which is fine. We got to the dress section and starting looking around. We came across an employee named Danielle and my friends boyfriend asked her if there's a section for size 16/18. She said and I quote "we don't have size 18 so you'll have to look online and won't find anything in the store." I realize that I haven't been through JCP training as an employee, but it took me all of 3 seconds to find 6 dresses that were size 18. Now I want to leave because I feel like you were just too "busy" to help us and couldn't be bothered to do your job. Danielle is the main reason we decided not to stay and went back to Macy's. My family and I sat at the jc studios last night in hopes to get our family phots done. We were advised that if we arrived by a certain time they would be able to get our pictures . Well after arriving at the agreed upon time,we sat in your studios for and hour and a half. To only be told you were closing and we would have to make an appointment for another date. Why promise something when you are unable to uphold your promise? This is bad business and I will not be returning to your location. read more

I purchased a diamond wedding band, worth approximately $1100 (although I paid $800) from a JCPenney location in Stuart, FL last December (2018). The ring sat in its box until May 2018, when I got married. Within a week of wearing the ring the first stone fell out, but I had purchased the lifetime warranty, so I figured no biggie, I would just take the ring back and have it fixed. I had since moved to Tampa, FL, so I took it to the Westshore plaza location, where the sent the ring back to have it fixed, for the first time... It took them approx. 3-4 weeks to fix the ring. When I got it back, within 3 days, more stones fell out... brought it back and went through the whole 3-4 week process of having it fixed again, only to have it returned, and again, within three days, have the stones fall out. Flash forward to four times of this process taking place (meaning while they fix it for 3-4 week periods at a time, I have it on my finger for a total of maybe 10 days). I finally tell them, I've had enough; this is my wedding band and it's very upsetting that it is completely useless to me and spends more time being repaired than I am able to wear it, not to mention that I am out a whopping $800 - I want my $ back, but I understand if I am only able to acquire a store credit (trying to still be civil). I went to the Tampa store location and was told by one of the store employees that it should be no problem and they were so sorry about my troubles! Wonderful news, right?? ...but you know what, I really love the ring and it is my wedding band after all so I decide to afford them one more shot at getting the ring right, so I send it back and try one more time - get it back and the same day, a stone falls out. So I take it back to the store location, expecting there to be no trouble, but boy was I wrong. The Tampa store location told me that there was absolutely nothing they could do because it had been purchased more than 6 months prior and was not purchased at their location, so it essentially was not there problem. I then called the JCPenney customer service number and explained my story for the first of approximately 7-8 times. I explained the timeline of events and what had transpired and that I wanted a full refund, but would settle for a store credit. I also explained that we had also purchased a very expensive watch and my husbands wedding band at the time, so it was not as though we were not loyal customers and I did not like the ring, I had just had enough and was out a lot of money and had a useless ring sitting in my drawer. Everybody I spoke with on the phone, routed me to a different department, because it was not there problem to deal with; twice I was told to give a statement, with a detailed timeline of events and it would be passed along to the corporate office, who would then call me and discuss some kind of remedy. However each time, when I called back, there was no record of those statements ever being given. The last time I called, I was routed to Asurion, which is the company that handled the lifetime warranty care plan, and was assured that given the amount of times I had to have it sent back, they would be able to give me a refund. Asurion basically laughed at me and said that it was JCPenney who had the authority to offer any kind of assistance and there was nothing they could do. This process has been an accumulation of 7-8 phone calls, some which last approx. an hour and well, I still have a useless ring sitting in my drawer, with three missing stones and am out $800. I would certainly think twice before purchasing jewelry from JCPenney again. read more
