This store is causing people to have their credit ratings down graded. On two occasions I have paid my bill at the store, they ran the check through their register and gave me a payment receipt. The following month I get a late payment notice. I contacted Penneys and my bank, Penneys never completed the payment transaction. I told them I had receipts and the check they ran through the electronic transfer, Penneys didn't care they basically called me a liar and that I failed to make my payment. I have shopped at JCPenneys for years. I've always had a good customer experience until today. I was in the women's dept and grabbed 2 items off of a sale table advertising $19.99 each (I thought nice as these items were usually $40 each). When I got to the register I was charged full price. I explained they were on sale... the sales clerk was nice and went to look. She came back and stated these items were not on sale and must have been placed there by accident (ok, I thought I know this happens). After paying for the items, I went back over to the table. I confirmed that the whole middle counter was the same brand I had just purchased.... and this counter was where the sale sign was. I could understand if someone had mistakenly placed one item on the counter; but this was not the case. I was angry at being lied to, however, I politely turned to the clerk standing there and said they needed to remove the sale sign. When she asked why, I stated that it was false advertising as I was just told these items were not on sale and I was just charged full price. She said let me take a look. I didn't have time to wait, and told her so, and reiterated that it was false advertising. Very disappointed Penneys.... its called integrity. I was making a return earlier today and a young lady named Natalie helped me she did such an amazing job. We were having issues with finding my order and she stepped in and found my order. I have always had really positive experiences at this location. It is a standard JC Penney with the typical selection, and usually they have a variety of sizes in all styles. Whenever I shop there, the associates are really friendly. On my most recent trip, there was an associate that asked every time she walked by if anyone needed anything, and she had a huge smile on her face the whole time. Even during the holidays, the associates keep themselves together and are friendly. The dressing rooms could use a little attention, but I think it's due to the volume of shoppers and the shoppers inability to just put their unwanted clothes on the rack by the entrance to the fitting room. But the last time I was in, I found a shirt I really liked that was left behind in the fitting room, so I guess it was not a lost cause! JCP has some great sales, too. Plus, there is a hair salon, photo studio, AND a Sephora inside. read more

Had an appointment at 12:15 to get some pictures taken, we finally walked out at 12:45 after the photographer made ZERO attempt to reassure us that she would be with us shortly. Absolutely ridiculous. Why even make an appointment ? Super disappointed. read more

Awesome! Went to the other department store first looking for workout gear. They had fancier gear, but was about 3 times the price. I got some great yoga togs (2 leggings, 1 pair shorts, and 1 shirt) on sale for less than just one pair of CK yoga pants would have cost at the other place. Went to the salon and the manager that works there is awful. You can tell upon arrival. She sits in a little back office behind the counter and yells at the stylists to come back there with a salon full of people. Not professional at all. And some of the stylists just sit around and talk about people. Not a nice atmosphere. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Unbelievable experience in an almost empty JCP in the deserted Silver Lake Mall in Coeur d'Alene. Two cashiers working in the mens' clothing area, each one was busy, one person waiting in front of me. When that person moved to the cashier, the JCP employee working there told me that I needed to make a line on the other side of the cashier area, where neither machine was manned. Her tone was impolite and officious, no smile, no "please". I pointed out that there were no cashiers on that side. The woman told me that it was "company policy" to not allow a line on that side of the cashiers area, even though the person in front of me had been doing exactly that! I asked her if JCP wanted my business; there was no reply other than a repeat of the "company policy" line. I deposited the item I wished to purchase on the counter between the two cashiers, and left. I can't believe that in this depressed retail market, in a virtually empty store, an employee would take that approach with a paying customer. The cashier in question was a middle-aged woman, not a young employee. It was so incredible I almost looked for the Bloopers and Practical Jokes TV crew! I have shopped in JCP stores for years, ignoring my daughter's advice to shop online. I will not shop at JCP ever again. read more

We had an appointment scheduled, for over 2 weeks, and when we showed up we were informed they were running 45 minutes to an hour behind, which is completely unacceptable especially when you have small children who do not have the patience to wait that long and then are completely past the point of being able to sit still and get a good photo. There was no phone call letting us know they were running this far behind and they were quite rude when telling us we would have to wait, no apology just attitude. read more

I love the Spokane Valley store! Although I thought the idea of having cooking demonstrations brilliant and was so sad to hear they weren't doing it, it did not deter me from coming in. Emily and crew at Sephora are amazing! Nicole in the salon is so talented and a wonderful addition to your employees. What brought me back to this store was the innovative ideas of hand held kiosks, Joe Fresh, Martha Stewart Celebrations, and the cooking demos. You lured me away from being a die hard Macy's and Nordstrom's fan.! Hopefully, the creative ideas for innovative customer service continues. read more

Not a very good experience. My daughter and I both had appointments. Our normal hair girl was out of town and it an emergency before we went out of town, so we tried Penny's salon. Christina was the young gal that did my hair. She seemed to be very confident and know exactly what I wanted. I showed her pictures and she got to work mixing my color. While she was applying color, Jen cut my 14 year old daughter's hair. When Jen was done I checked out my daughter's hair and it was so crooked. I was baffled how the stylist could not see it. It was so obvious. I looked at Christina and she noticed right away. I asked Christina if I should say something. She said no, it was fine. She would fix it once Jen left. I agreed and appreciated the gesture. I also didn't want to hurt Jen's feelings, although she charged $30 fricking for that hack job. I didn't complain since Christina was going to fix it. While my hair was being colored, there was a young girl sitting next to my chair eating Chinese food. My stylist and her talked the entire time color was being applied to my hair. I thought the girl was an employee on break. Come to find out, it was my stylists best friend just hanging out. I was really confused that I was paying for social time for my stylist and her friend. Strangest situation I've ever been in at a salon. Once Christina's friend left I was able to get some of her attention. She told me because I used box dye that the color may not take very well. Well, that was the furthest thing from the truth. She took off the first foil and about hit the floor. It was bleach blonde. Christina showed Jen and Jen asked me how often I box dyed my hair, I said maybe once or twice a year. Jen said that's why it took so well. Christina said she thought I did it about every 6 weeks. I assumed those questions might have been good to ask before she applied the product. I knew at this point I was in trouble, but I was in to deep. I had foils all over my head. She said she could tone the color down. I didn't even know she was bleaching my hair until she took the first foil off. She never mentioned it and I never could have imagined she would since I clearly was staying dark, per my picture. Well, the damage was done. Christina and Jen took about an hour figuring out what they would do to rectify the situation. Finally, Christina came back and used the toner in my hair. Jen left and Christina re-cut my daughter's hair while I was toning in the sink. my daughter's hair did turn out decent although it was still a tiny bit uneven. I just took care of it when I got home but appreciated her doing that. Christina said Jen had just had carpal tunnel surgery. Perhaps she should not be cutting hair if she is that hurt still. Christina rinsed my hair. I did not get a scalp massage. I can't remember the last time I didn't get a scalp massage spending $100+ on a hair appt. She dried my hair. The highlight in the front was pretty but way too light. Way lighter than my original hair and way way lighter than the picture I gave her. It was nowhere near what I had asked of her. I let her know that it was nothing that I wanted. It was so light and in chunks. Not even blended. I asked her if she saw what I saw and she said, "What do you see?" I said look at this huge chunk of blonde in the back. She offered to fix it. I made an apt for Monday to fix it. I went home and sent a picture to my normal hair girl. She about cried when I showed her what happened to my hair. I canceled my correction appt with Christina. I can not trust that it will be corrected properly. The unprofessional atmosphere that night leaves me no choice but to go back to my normal hair stylist and spend an additional $150 to correct the damage that was done to my hair. Christina did give me a discount but I still feel I can not trust that anybody at this salon could do my hair justice. I am sorry I went to this salon and will never go back. I am really hoping this message is received and I am compensated in some way. read more
