I was searching for a new eye doctor for my family after a disappointing experience at a well-known…read morechain. After reading countless reviews on Google, I decided to try Peepers in Damascus, MD. Even though Damascus is farther than many other options, I don't mind traveling for great service--and I'm so glad I did because Peepers exceeded all expectations! First, let me highlight Antonio's exceptional customer service. When I called to figure out insurance details, I didn't have my insurance card or ID number on hand. Instead of rushing me off the phone, Antonio patiently worked to find my coverage through alternative methods. This level of effort and care is rare, especially over the phone, where many seem eager to hang up. Antonio also went above and beyond to accommodate my schedule, finding an appointment that worked perfectly. Now, let's talk about the experience at Peepers. How many of us dread going to the eye doctor, expecting upsells for unnecessary bifocals or feeling like just another nameless patient? Or being charged for retinal imaging without an explanation of the results? Or wandering aimlessly through a wall of frames, unsure of what fits, only to be upsold on every feature imaginable? If you've dealt with any of these frustrations, Peepers will change your perspective entirely. When I first arrived, I was a little skeptical. The storefront is modest and small--quite different from the flashy chain I used to visit. But the moment we walked in, my doubts disappeared. We were greeted immediately, and to my surprise, it was Dr. Shafi herself helping at the front desk. This spoke volumes about her hands-on approach and dedication. Dr. Shafi is an incredible blend of kindness, wit, and expertise. She took the time to explain every detail of our exams in a way that was easy to understand--something no other eye doctor has done for us. She even showed us the retinal images we paid for, explaining what we were looking at and why everything looked healthy. Her warmth made my usually reserved 11-year-old feel completely at ease, and our family's playful banter fit right in with her fun, approachable demeanor. Oh...and she's from NYC like us --- our accents are undeniable! When it came to frame selection, Antonio proved to be a "frame whisperer." My husband, a longtime glasses wearer, is pretty good at picking frames, but Antonio's guidance was on another level. The selection at Peepers may be smaller than what you'd find at larger chains, but it's high-quality and thoughtfully curated for a range of budgets. Despite it being near closing time, Antonio and Dr. Shafi helped us find frames that suited our faces perfectly, making the process enjoyable and pressure-free. In the end, my family and I found much more than an eye doctor--we found a place where we feel valued, educated, and genuinely cared for. If you're looking for a professional, personalized, and welcoming experience, Peepers in Damascus is where you need to be. Dr. Shafi and Antonio have set a new standard for eye care. Highly recommend! I know this review here in yelp is a stark contrast to others. And no, I am not crazy and I have extremely high standards. What I leaned is...the business has gone through a transition recently.

Her studio is a quaint home studio and was easy to get to. We decided to do family photos plus baby pictures of our 4 month old. On the day of, our baby wasn't able to get a nap in before our appointment, which resulted in one very fussy baby. However, Oshrit was so kind and patient with our boy. She is definitely experienced in working with children and it showed. She did not get frustrated nor was she bothered when we needed to stop multiple times to feed and then change him. She worked with us/him and managed to get some great photos! We are very happy with her work and I am so grateful for her patience that day. The pricing is also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend using Noize photography!

The manager came out and stopped me as I was getting into my vehicle, just to make sure that I realized that I had purchased a "deep base" paint, (which would have been completely wrong for this project). It was really nice of him to catch that, because I never noticed. Then he took me back in the store, and made the exchange, even covering the cost of the difference (the correct paint was a couple dollars more). You just don't see that these days. Somebody taking the time to pay that much attention, where I was negligent, bring it to my attention, and then actually take less money - to make the exchange quicker and more convenient for me. It's hard for me to remember not to just run to the "big orange" store every time I need something in the shop, or around the house. But this is just a little reminder, that there is a much better option.

After three other associates walked past us without engaging, Ashley came over, greeted us warmly, and made us feel welcome. Thank you for making our experience special.

GOOD EXPERIENCES After multiple places in the area couldn't help with some flimsy glasses, I ended up coming to this LensCrafters location multiple times. Each time not only did they fix the problem, they spent 15 mins on it, they looked great, and they didn't take a dime from me. The people who helped me were a delight. Five stars all the way. BAD EXPERIENCE I understood that Lens Crafters (based on the name) actually crafted lenses. They made it in the store. I thought that was the whole dang business model. Then, for some reason they had to order my lenses and then they got lost in transit. I am just baffled. Is this just a standard glasses shop now like every other place, but with weird shipping issues? Maybe that was just a bad week? Lastly, I do have to point out this is business owned by Luxottica so please look up that business before you come here.

I had gotten my eyes checked elsewhere, but I had yet to find glasses and I didn't like the styles they offered at the optometrist. When I got inside, I noticed that there was hand sanitizer right up front and all the employees had gloves on as well. They did let me know right away that I was able to try on glasses and that the ones that I didn't like went into a sanitizing tray on each table so they can be properly sanitized before being placed back on the wall. I definitely liked the measures they took with ensuring everyone's safety amidst the pandemic! I ended up finding a pair of translucent glasses that I liked. They were priced for $95, so I was anticipating adding tax on and whatnot when I purchased them. But no! They were actually $95, including adding my prescription onto them! I opted to add the blue light protector (since I work in an office & spend 8 hours a day staring at a computer screen) and it was $50 more. I received my glasses in about 5 days later, and I went back for an adjustment (since the frames I got were a bit tight on my temples) and I ended up buying another pair, haha! Thank you, Warby Parker! I definitely enjoy my new glasses!
