The store itself is very clean and organized. Great sales! The staff was very polite and attentive. Plenty of parking, and lines were not long at all. The only problem I had, was an Internet order and how long it took I know I'm not personally blaming this particular store, but JCPenney itself irked me. I ordered a pair of jeans online on 6/26. They said they would text me every time the package moved until it got to the store. I received no text messages, although I did provide a phone number, and when I did call the store, all they could tell me was "it's on its way." Saturday I happen to be in Kenosha, where the package was sent, so I checked at the store. After informing the staff member in mail order/pick-up how long I had been waiting and that I had not received any texts, she checked and told me "oh yeah, it's here." "Didn't you get our texts? Hello!!!??? When I ordered it, my receipt showed it would be in on 6/28. I actually picked it up on the day it arrived. 7/5. The real problem I have, is why was I not notified? I don't think I will be ordering from JCPenney anytime soon. read more

Horriable experience with the portrait part of this store!! We went online and set up a newborn photo shoot for 3:15 today We arrived around 3. there were some people inside already, the young lady photographer was extremely rude and disrespectful to us asking if we had the correct store??? Then was mad because she had someone there for the same time slot that called earlier in the day she told her she had to take us first with an attitude. then was upset that the newborn was not already dressed in her tutu , I'm sorry it's cold outside!! then yelled at us for going behind the desk to the restroom to get her changed, while she was helping another family with ordering pictures. at this point obviously she didn't want to take the pictures.. she was going to rush so she could get the other mother with kids in before the next appointment . She basically pushed us out so we decided to leave and not do the photos again she was loudly rude and I will never bring any of my grandchildren back to get pictures here again and very disappointed that she said I will still be getting charged. I'm very sad that you allow someone to act unprofessional , and shouldn't even be allowed around children ! Hopefully someone higher up should pull the footage from the cameras and see how she treated us. read more

Had a great photo shoot with Gage, she was patient when we were 5 mins late. 2 kids and 2 men, she made it fast and easy. Me as a woman would've wanted more photos, but she could tell they were done. Went through all the pictures, gage was patient with us and discussed all options. Didn't push on a certain price or package, it was all up to us. I realize its special times, but I feel like some store employees are not helpful. The store closed all but one dressing room. I had to go throughout the whole store carrying my items I needed to try on. It was difficult and confusing. I felt there needed to be directions posted. At one point I mentioned how frustrated I was about the situation to my mom who I was shopping with and a clerk shouted well why didn't you ask directions. She was demeaning. I'm not a complainer but really. I have worked retail and that is not how you talkto a customer. I'm 61 years old and it was a struggle for me. read more

COOLNESS When did JC Penny get hip? In fact, I think they dropped the Penny for just a "P", now they are totally down with the teenagers who don't know how to spell. So excuse me, I should be saying, "JCP Baby!" We walked into the JCP to just buy some socks and I feel like it's been over 10 years since I walked in here. I was just taken back at how inviting the store was. It wasn't just one giant department store it was broken up into inviting sections. My wife lost me for a moment as I made it into the cooking section. She said, "I don't see any socks in here!" I said, "I can't stop checking out the store!" I also hinted that we needed the upright popcorn machine with candy display for our movie nights. She didn't veto the request...so you're saying there's a chance. The store has these nice little end caps that break off from the larger section of the store. It draws a customer in and it totally worked on me. Each one has high white walls and different flooring in each section. As a shopper I want to go into these unique are. So kudos to the marketing design team at JCP for laying it out this way. It's working! I noticed there is a photo studio here. It was packed on a Sunday with people getting portraits with there loved ones. It was so old school to watch this. I really enjoyed it but I'm sure the Wisconsin dude who was being forced by his girlfriend to take these photos liked me watching him share his sensitive side through the glass. I should have held up a Bears hat or something. Checking out of the store was a breeze. They have gone to the Marshall's type of checkout with just one long line and then you truly get the next available register. There is nothing worse then getting in the line with the slow cashier. This setup also adds more room to add items for purchase in the front of the store. The JCP is cool again. I hope that this new hip vibe and look helps this retailer as most retailers struggle against internet shopping. I'm not an internet shopping fan because I like touching, trying on and feeling my clothes before I buy them. I can't do that on a computer screen. So next time you are in the area then check out the JCP. The locals here have really embraced the store. Kenosha was a big JC Penny town until there department store closed downtown in the 80's. I hear the locals had to drive to Racine to get their JCP on. Now they've got there own cool hip modern JCP right in their backyard. So good luck JCP and thanks for the deal on socks. I live on Keno north side for 13 years. Been to this store twice. Not enough reason to buck highway 50 traf to go there. Used to shop Penny's a lot in se wis and no. ill. My ma would regularly go downtown Keno. Not sure what happened to JCP. read more

As a kid, growing up in Kenosha meant frequent trips to JC Penney's downtown store. I have great memories of the candy counter and the displays at Christmastime, as well as frequent trips to take photos with my sister. When the downtown Penneys closed in the 1980s, Kenoshans had to trek up north to Racine to the new Regency Mall to shop at Penneys. We did that for many years, but that got old. I live in Chicago now, but my mom still lives in Kenosha. When we heard that Penneys was building a new store in Pleasant Prairie, we were happy to have them back. My mom always liked shopping there, so it's good to have them close to home again. A few weeks ago, I took my mom to Penney's to do some Christmas shopping. We went the Saturday after Thanksgiving, to avoid the "Black Friday" insanity. It was our first real shopping trip at the new store, aside from a short trip the previous year where we found my mom a new purse. Our main focus was to find new curtains for my mom's living room. Penney's has always been well-known for their great window dressing department, and I'm pleased to say that the Kenosha/Pleasant Prairie store not only met but exceeded our expectations. We were amazed at the selection and the friendliness of the staff, and at the great prices we found. We selected our curtains and rods, and placed our order, and even got a couple gifts to give my nieces for Christmas. It was a very pleasant experience from start to finish. But the most important thing I want to mention is this: My mom uses a wheelchair, and I have found that department stores are typically very difficult to navigate if you are in a wheelchair. Penney's aisles were wide and clear, and easy to navigate. This made our shopping experience so much more pleasant. Finally, my mom and I noticed that nearly every sales associate and employee we encountered while in the Penney's store took the time to stop, smile, and say hello to us-- whether we were just walking down the aisle or looking at something in particular. I counted at least 6 different instances where we were greeted warmly by someone working at that store. This is what customer service is all about, and I was happy to see that Penney's is still doing a great job of teaching those values. We will absolutely be back. read more

I HATED this store! Obviously designed for women and effeminate men, I was offended from the moment I walked into the doors that read "Joe fresh". Who is Joe and why is he fresh? I walked back into the parking lot to look at the sign and make sure I was at JCP. Having grown up with this store, having my Mom drag me around, I was disgusted by the way the new store was designed. I told several people that this chain would fall under, and I must say I'm glad my premonition is coming true. They deserve to lose market share when they are SOOO out of touch with consumers, especially those who have dangly bits betwixt their legs. read more

I love shopping at JCPenney. The lady in the jewelry department couldn't do enough to help me out. Not so in the curtain department. All the while I waited she was on the phone making appointments for her daughter. I finally gave up and left. The worst on line place to order from.i ordered a popcorn machine for $175 plus shipping over size item charge and tax.came out to about $214. 10 minutes later I called to cancel the order. Just to find out once you process the order they will not refund your money you have to wait for them to ship out the product so you still have to pay shipping. Please keep in mind this product is not going to be shipped for two more weeks. I was informed that in about two and a half weeks when the popcorn machine shows up I can send it back and get my money back but have to pay a $50 restocking fee and lose out on my shipping cost. That's about $84 out of my pocket to return something they haven't shipped out yet. I found the same popcorn machine from Amazon $125 with Free Shipping. They said this is their policy. I went to JCP Salon, Pleasant Prairie WI, as a walk-in client. I ask if they had any openings. The stylist said sure, in about an hour. So I thought ok - I'll walk around the store for an hour. An hour later I go back to the Salon and she said oh it will be about a 1/2 hr. I waited patiently for that 1/2 hr., still not service. I decided to leave. I call the following day, Sunday, 10/19 to see if they had any openings. The stylist said yes in about 20 minutes. I go in 20 minutes and seen she just got done washing someone's hair. So I ask her how much longer she said a few minutes - I said ok - Ill be back in 20 minutes. Walked around JCP again, go back in 20 minutes and she's still working on the girl. I waited about a total of 40 minutes and finally decided to leave. Poor service, Poor service, Poor service. Never again... read more
