One of the few JC Penny stores left in the area. With Carson's going out of business along with Bed Bath and Beyond it's become our go to place for towels and even pots and pans. The store is clean and well organized, it's just hard to find an employee for assistance. read more

just now New I just went to return some items and your associate Mecky was super rude and lying. After swiping my JCP card, she was saying there was nothing on screen without scanning the items. The other lady was lying about the return price of the pants too low so that I won't return it. Very bad experience. Never to this shop again. read more

Wow!I had the best experience at this store! It was my first time there, I went to get a haircut in their hair salon. The salon is beautiful and they did a great job cutting my hair! They have all the brand name hair products and Toni did an exceptional job cutting my hair and husbands hair. I am also beyond impressed with the customer service and cleanliness of this store. Everything is immaculate a this store and it is the nicest JC Penney that I have gone to. Since it was my first time at this store, I interacted with three employees, all three were phenomenal! One person helped me with price items and how you can also download the app and use the price scanner in the App. Love it! One employee helped me find the salon and took the time to walk me there! And their sales and promotions were so amazing, I ended buying great items and even opened a store credit card for additional discounts. Fantastic employees that made my overall experience a great one and will continue to shop there. Great job on this store JC Penney! Highly recommend! read more

The store layout at this location is confusing and disorganized. I was looking for shoes and they seem to be spread out through the store. I've been in here a few times. Once, to pick up some costume jewelry which I called ahead for. I had to go to several locations since it was for six bridesmaids. Once I got there, the customer service was better than any department store I've been in. Everything was boxed up and I was asked if I needed anything else. The most recent was a visit to their Sephora store. I specifically asked for what I wanted (which was out of stock) and I was informed they didn't have any, after she checked the bunkers. Normally, they just look at the shelf and tell me "nope we don't have it." She even went the extra mile to tell me when their shipments come in, so it may arrive the next day. Sephora employees are never that informative, so I give this JCPenney and Sephora 4 stars. read more

When she wanted to buy you an easter dress or a Christmas sweater, it was off to JCPenney!! This a review for the HAIR SALON (I couldn't find it separately) Worst experience I ever had with a salon. You are better off going to any old, street corner, cheap hair salon. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I had made an appointment to bleach my hair. When I got there the girl who was going to do my hair walked away and another girl approached me and said "she is not doing your hair anymore, she got scared"!!!. Why ??? Was she scared of me and my appearance or was she scared to do the work!!??? Any of these possibilities are horrendous!! What kind of people are these!!?? Anyway, this other lady apparently was also scared of performing a bleach (yes they are tedious and long) because she showed me a picture and insisted and insisted just to dye my hair a new color. I agreed and said ok if it will look like that ok let's do it. Well.. as you can imagine, it didn't!! My roots looked bright red!!!! Like if a child did the work. After she had seen the bad and poor job she did. She NOW suggested to do a bleach but told me that it was gonna be very expensive ( I knew how much it was and I had money to pay for it) and was going to have to be another day because a lady was waiting for her already!!! What????? Again super unprofessional!! My money is worth the same as other propale and I also had an appointment. I spoke to a very rude manager who seemed to not to believed what happened!!! After what a horrible experience, the manager even arguing with me!! You will always find people who are just soo lazy and want to make money easily!!! read more

JCP was someplace I never shopped at. Under the former Apple higher up CEO things were changing or the better. This store is clean, bright, and pleasurable to shop at. I am curious to see how it fares with the return of the former CEO. read more

My enthusiasm was killed here when I spent two hours helping my son shop for school clothes and no one I mean no one asked us if we needed any help. Not sure if it was a race thing. I saw other people receive assistance but not us. After chosing $300 in clothing merchandise we went to checkout. The cashiers were distant an uninterested in making our experience memorable. I used a coupon I received in the mail for 25% off. The cashier told us we couldn't use this coupon on Levi products among others (really)? I mentioned we selected this store because of the coupon she brushed off my attempts without seeking and managerial advice. Well needless to say other stores go out of their way to make customers happy. I won't be going back to this location. read more

Frames were on sale 40%. Didn't ring up correctly so before walking out of the store I went back to have it adjusted. I was charged the restock fee although it wasn't an actual return but an error on their part. Called a manager over because the cashier KNEW she was shorting me but couldn't override it. Nor could the manager. Really? I returned the entire purchase and walked out. I'm done with them. read more

During my visit to jcpenny's today I was looking at a bikini top. It was a halter top with removable straps. The swim suits we all grouped together and hard to detangle. I looked at the inside of the swim suite to see if it required one strap or two and there were clearly two loop holes , one on each side .I proceed to the checkout counter where I meet the cashier . Half way through my transaction an other employee asks me if I saw another strap to the bikini top. I told her that the suites we in disarray. after I had payed for the swim suit I was met by store security acusing me of stealing another strap to the bikini. This specific top wouldn't be functional with only one strap and was made for two. I explained this to security and she responded by saying that she was going to let me slide this time . I left the store promptly. When I got home I looked up the exact swim suite on the jcpenny website and it clealy shows two straps. I had taken the correct amount of strap and instread of the head of security admitiing her fault she continued to place the blame on me. I have had good experiences at this store in the past and I'm shocked at how I was treated today especailly by the HEAD of secuity. She was both unprofessional and childish. I can tell you this will be my last trip to the jcpenny's in mountgomery IL. read more

I have shopped at the JCPenney in Montgomery several times & have not had my issues at all, I love this store, sometimes I don't find what I am looking for in my size. Like many other stores where it probably has been sold, by the way I also am from the minority Bucket as someone has mentioned a few days ago. I am glad they even have a loss prevention person who is keeping up with customers in the store, that store much needed it, which also means she is doing her job. When I was there shopping with a friend of mine, there was this lady talking extremely loudly in the jewelry department & the store associates were trying to help her. The reason she was so upset was probably because she thought she could Just walk in there tell them her issue & walk out with a new piece of whatever she had a problem with, pulling the minority card for this issue absurd, there is no mention of how the issue was solved, knowing how these stores help customers I am guessing the customer must have been well compensated. read more

I wouldn't recommend the portrait studio. They were running very (45 minutes) behind on appts (which does not work well when you're having photos done of your toddler). They also ignored our request for a different colored backdrop for the photos. Out of the 11 photos they took only 1 or 2 turned out well. read more

I really wish that I can give negative -10 stars as a review, terrible experience, had purchased a citizen watch in the amount of 220, without a care plan. Watch seemed to be defective piece as links kept coming off, fell on a floor few times because links got detached. I went to store to have it fixed like in past. I was assisted by jewelry associate who tried fixing but could not find any link, so I requested to speak with a manager, I waited for total of 45 minutes for a manager, after 45 mins , guy at the jewelry counter said, ' manager is in the lunch, he will handle the situation'. He proceeded further with a situation, all of a sudden, loss prevention lady jumped into a conversation without knowing history, she overruled all the decisions and comments based on judgements. She refused to take a watch for even repair, please remember that I was willing to pay repair cost. 3 steps went wrong: 1) manager came in a picture after 1 hour upon a call from loss prevention 2) felt accused by loss prevention lady, who should not have any consult with this transaction what so ever, I felt accused of lying or stealing? I was treated extremely rude just because I fall under minority bucket? Felt discriminated 3) after spending 1.15 hour, they did not offer any solution, refused to take a watch Sorry, that jewelry manager could not stand up for her customer or her decision! And at an end, I was asked to leave a store by loss prevention because I am making her employees uncomfortable? In fact, she initiated this humiliation and blaming me? I deserve a sincere apology with compensation from District LP manager , for all the emotional harassment! read more

Stopped in two years ago to exchange a set of $25 blinds that broke after 3 months of use. Now I understand these aren't the most of expensive blinds but the cord shouldn't snap the plastic locking mechanism after three months of use. I went to customer service to exchange and received nothing but trouble from the customer service rep, her manager and eventually the store manager. The store manager told me that if she took this set in for exchange then what's going to happen the next time it breaks? Well not a hard decision here...take back the set if it breaks, blinds shouldn't break after three months of use. Her judgement was awful and rule #1 keep the customer happy. The only advice the store manager gave me was to call the factory in China that makes the blinds and to see if they'll take an exchange. I told the women I would never set foot in her store again and to this day neither my wife, my self, or family has set foot in a JC Penny's because of their awful customer service. read more
