their prices have a huge mark-up, so they can mark them back down for a "sale." They had a sale I missed where men's Levi's 505 jeans were about $33. It got me paying attention so when I saw them on sale for $40 with a $10 coupon, I thought that was a great price. I went into the store, waited in a long line, only to find out the coupon didn't apply to Levi's. I've been a long time Penny's cardholder, but waiting for just the right sale to buy something is stupid marketing I the modern world. I can go on Amazon RIGHT FRICKEN NOW, and buy those same jeans for $33 with free two day shipping. Why would I ever go back to a store that can't figure out I just want a good price now and always, not inflated prices to get an exaggerated idea of a "sale" price. If I could give JcPenny 10 stars, I would! My family comes here for everything, dresses, jewelry; my dad has bought numerous suits from this store. JcPenny is always our go to store and I have never been disappointed. I would like to highlight one special moment. My fIance and I went ring shopping just last week and we had the pleasure of being helped by Jacquline, right away she came to us and dove right in with helping us and giving us her expertise. She was so helpful and due to her help I found the ring of my dreams. Unfortunately my husband bought me a beautiful gold necklace with a lifetime warranty at JCPENNYS jewelry department, in less than a year my necklace has broke three times now. I was told they could not fix it and if I wanted my money back or the broken necklace. I chose to keep my necklace and in 3 months have been getting the run around on where my necklace is. It's surprising this retail is still in business with its extremely poor customer service. They now only have 1 register open in the first floor and 1 register open in the second floor. I placed an online order and when I arrived to pick up my order I realized that they had the wrong product. I told the sales associate that it was not the right product and she said that it wasn't and they got the order wrong. Then she asked me if I wanted to go downstairs and look for the correct product myself. When I found the correct product Another sales associate was giving me a hard time about honoring the same online price. Not only did they get my online order wrong but they made me look for the correct product myself on another floor and then they gave me a hard time about exchanging it. If I could give 0 stars I would. We tried to return some towels that washed up poorly. They even ruined our other towels when washed together. My girlfriend is terrible at returning items and had waited too long to return the $12 purchase. We spoke with two older women- a store associate and manager at the return desk. Both store representatives were very rude and had attitudes.They need customer service training. We have shopped at the Manteca JCP before, and customer service is always superb. We ordered a bed and mattresses right before black Friday.. They said that they would be calling us for a delivery. We get a call that it was being delivered today. I move old bed out and got the room ready for the new bed. Well to my surprise the only things delivered were the mattresses, and the are on the hardwood floor with nothing underneath to protect the floor. When i asked what happen to the bed i was informed they were only to deliver the mattresses. I called the store and was informed that my bed was on order. And that was all the could tell me. If i had known that my bed and mattresses were not going to be delivered at the same time. I would have not purchased it from here. So beware. I had informed them that I did not have my old mattress set for pick up but I still pay a $11 recycling fee for each mattress and box spring. Well I did have a set to be recycled because I gave my mattress set to my daughter and she gave me hers. I did not need them so I was going to have them take them. When I told the delivery people that I had them they looked at them and told me " our company would not accept them". When speaking to the sales associate at the store she informed me that I had instructed that i did not have any to be taken. I said "yes but I psid a recycling fee". Her response was" taking the mattresses is a free service and the recycling fee is on the new set". All I can say is never say no to anything that you can hand in and make sure all the items are going to be delivered at the same time. read more

I've come in twice at different times of the day on a week day and both times they only have two cashiers working the cash registers when there are 4 registers. 2 customer service areas where they have 4 cash registers the lines were 10-15 people long. I went to one line and finally a 3rd person came but for some reason the line was slow as molasses. One customer was at one register for 15 minutes, deciding if she was going to buy something or return something. It was really ridiculous. This is just another reminder why I don't come in here. I had a gift card and that was the only reason I stood there to use it on a purchase. The worse part is the cashiers don't apologize for the wait. Bought curtains and rods for the entire house on Black Friday after viewing the selection in store. Never again. The order was inexplicably canceled several times, forcing me to make 4 lengthy calls, spending up to one hour on hold each time. The order arrived on time (hence one star) but it's wrong. I received 3 curtains I didn't order, and am missing 4 curtain rods, 9 curtains, and 10 panels. The packing lists show incorrect prices. I just placed several calls to the store during business hours and NO ONE answers the phone. Not even voice mail so you can leave a message. Dissatisfied and disappointed. read more

Buying a suit here was the exact opposite experience of Men's Wearhouse - they were helpful, had suggestions, knew their product, and gave us a great deal. The gentleman working here had a thorough knowledge of colors and fashion - he helped me pick an awesome suit seamlessly. Just came here to shop for clothes and make up and I thought the deals and service were excellent. Everyone we encountered made us feel appreciated as valued customers. They're refreshing. It wasn't just us they were polite to...they were nice to everyone. I couldn't scan my coupon so the very nice gentleman at the register used a different scannable coupon to save us money. At Sephora, two very friendly female employees acknowledged me even when they're busy helping other customers and were helpful/knowledgeable about a wide variety of beauty products. I've not ever been to a JCP in which it was hard to find someone to help you. I had to search endlessly for help in the shoe department. Once I found someone, the associate helped me and disappeared again. I had to start the search all over because I needed help once more and after going to a register to ask for help in that area, a different associate came to "help" me. All in all, I wasted time because he was of not help to me whatsoever. I will not come to this store again. It's so unorganized and they seem to be really short staffed. I didn't think it was possible to have a bad experience at any JCP but I was definitely proven wrong today. :( read more

Terrible customer service, their plus size collection is a joke, and a massive lack of registers to check out at. my mom and I were stuck in line at the only open set of registers on the entire floor along with all of the other customers for over 20 minutes. when we did get to checkout the receipt messed up on printing and now I've been waiting another 20 minutes for them to fix the problem because they are unable to just reprint it. I had to send my mom back to the car because she's having difficulty standing for this amount of time. This store is totally not worth the wait they make you go through. read more

I LOVE the salon at JCPenney! The girls are super nice and friendly and everyone that walks out of there looks better than when they walked in including me. Ha ha. I get my hair done by Joanna and she does a great job. I am super picky about my hair because it is long and thick and I like it to look those Pantene commercials, lol.
