I hate to jump in on all the negativity of the previous reviews, but I have to agree. If this location cares so little about their customers, then I don't think they should be open. I went in recently to pick up an online order, only to have to follow a sign to go upstairs and walk around and not find anyone to help me. I finally found a customer service area and had to wait for anyone to show up. After a LONG wait, someone showed up and went to get my order from the back, which was ANOTHER long wait. I came back the following week to return part of the order and stopped at the very first customer service desk. One lady was ahead of me and the staff member just could not seem to understand her return. I waited and waited and waited with no acknowledgement. A line started to form behind me and then people would eventually give up and walk away because nothing was happening to move the line along. After multiple people lined up and later walked away after waiting so long, another worker finally showed up and took my return. No acknowledgment or apology for the wait. The store was definitely not busy (it was like 11am on a Tuesday) and when I finally got to leave, the person ahead of me was STILL trying to check out and the cashier just could not make it happen. Very frustrating and I will avoid from now on! read more

I'm not sure who all these folks are that are having substandard experiences at this JC Penney location, because I've had very excellent customer service experiences here. The first time I popped in over my lunch break to purchase some item of clothing, the associate asked if I'd like to open a charge account. I did and received an additional percentage off the winter clearance, which meant I got me new coat for a steal! When they tell you that it will take only just a few extra minutes at the checkout register, they are correct. So don't let time be a hinderance. And once you get approved, you receive all sorts of card member perks for additional savings. One thing I do want to let people know is that if you use the Scrip program through your child's school, you CANNOT purchase e-cards through Scrip to pay your JCP credit card balance. I found out the hard way by not reading the fine print. Let my foolishness serve as a PSA to anyone who reads this review. read more

I paid for a new mattress and box springs on April 1, 2021 in the Castleton Square store. Or so I thought. I learned two weeks later, when I noticed the amount had been credited back to my bank account, that JC Penney only placed a hold on the amount of money in my account on April 1. (I had to contact my bank because the first run was declined--the bank detected fraudulent activity and I had to confirm it was me). I only learned this, of course, by calling JC Penney. None of this was explained by the customer service rep in the store and of course there was no reason to think that I hadn't simply paid for a new mattress and box springs. The phone representative told me that there would be another hold placed in just less than two weeks and then debit for the purchase on April 26. When that, now, fourth run by JC Penney was made on my account for this amount, it was again declined, likely because the bank again believed this was fraudulent activity--now especially so since it was the fourth run for the same amount of money (the amount should have cleared). No one from JC Penney contacted me and when I looked up the order status late on April 26 it said I needed to update payment information. When I called JC Penney on the 27th, the first person my wife and I spoke to apologized and said something about delays in manufacturing because of the pandemic. We asked to be transferred to a supervisor who told us the order had been canceled. So after actually paying the store, having holds placed on our account, and literally no one from the company actually reaching out to tell us what was actually happening with our order, we now have no mattress and box springs. This matter has supposedly been "elevated to corporate," but I have no hope of any resolution at this point. This has been the most incompetent and uncaring handling of most any matter I can imagine. I was told repeatedly during the call that there would be nothing done on my behalf. It has been some time since I've purchased anything from JC Penney--mostly driven by the fact that my local store closed quite a few years ago because of poor sales--and I will never return. This company clearly cares nothing for its customers, which is a prime reason it has struggled for some time. I will actively recommend to anyone that they not even consider JC Penney for even the smallest purchase. read more

Lisa was attending the women's dept. fitting room when I last visited JC Penney, on a busy weekend. She managed the fitting room calmly & efficiently, showing the utmost respect to shoppers, while following COVID protocol. Lisa's calm demeanor was contagious and it relaxed anxious shoppers. In addition, shoppers were asking Lisa advice about their 'try-ons'. Lisa answered honestly and in a way that was appreciated by all who sought her help and advice. I know she sold a lot of inventory that would have been left behind because the shopper was overwhelmed. Lisa has the right formula for sales, naturally! I went to Sephora today, which I love. I asked the girl who worked there, her name was Jenny, for a sample and she was very rude. From the beginning she didn't seem to want to help my sister and I. And the sample she gave me was sad. I've gotten samples there before and it's been enough for a full face and really be able to test out the product. This time, it wasn't even enough for a cheek. I'm very disappointed, I've never had a bad experience at Sephora before today. Hopefully she doesn't treat the rest of her costumers like that. read more

My husband bought my anniversary ring here. The sides of the ring scratched my finger so I wanted to return it. However I had it sized down and so the policy is that you cannot return it if it's been altered. My husband and I buy all of our jewelry from JCPenney so the manager Teek let me exchange the ring for something that fit me better. For this and so many other reasons I will always get my jewelry from JCPenney. The staff is very helpful!!! Teek has always been there when we come in and is so considerate and does whatever he can to make sure we're happy. I will never go anywhere else!!! read more

Where would I even start? I ordered some shoes online and did ship-to-store. Prior to this I ordered two girls' coats to be shipped to the store. It has been two weeks since I ordered the coats with no sign of them anywhere!! I have already picked up the shoes and everything. Every time I call customer service noone knows where my coats are! I called customer service to get my refund and of course they say to call the store back for a refund. At this point I am frustrated. No answer......go figure. EVERYONE please steer clear of the Jewelry department and a worker named William! My wife and I decided to purchase our wedding rings through you and it has been nothing short of a mistake, when she got her engagement ring a month later 2 stones were missing. She has a desk job! How does that even happen?? When we were looking for my tungsten band we got sized in store a 14, it arrived I tried it on and it was HUGE. We then proceeded to go back in store where a worker William assisted and stated he would send it back to get resized to a 13.5 A couple days later we get a call for it to be picked up, it was the SAME EXACT SIZE. They literally did nothing to it except leaving a note stating Tungsten cannot be resized. At this point, I'm fuming.. how do your employees not know anything about the rings they are selling? We take it in and this time make sure someone other than William is working, since he knows nothing and tells us how excited he is that he put his 2 weeks in and can't wait to leave JCP.. which is completely unprofessional. So we go in and Debbie helps us and she is great, seems to know what she's talking about and is really helpful. We size my finger and try the 13.5 to make sure and then the 13 but that gets stuck - so we end up exchanging the size 14 ring for a 13.5. Four days later we go and pick up the new 13.5 and it is still TOO BIG, I told my wife we need to ask for a complete refund because this is just insane at this point. I went home got online and come to find out Tungsten rings run big and no matter what sizer you have in store it's never going to fit exactly like the tungsten ring would. To which I say again, how does a Jewelry department not know these things? I am so frustrated with your store and this whole process, every time we go in - they never have our care plan. Even though EVERYTIME we go in I have to give the employee all of our information again. It's the most inefficient and time consuming trip I take. I have absolutely no desire to ever purchase anything from your Jewelry department again and have warned everyone what a hassle it has been, I would completely refund both of our wedding sets if my wife would agree to it. I still to this day have not been able to wear my wedding ring and we've been married for 2 weeks. Safe yourself the time, just because it's a lower price than the big Jewelers doesn't always mean it's the better price! read more

Opened an account in May and ordered shoes, was told they would be at the store June 7 and they would call me. June 8, I called them. No shoes and was told the order was canceled. I reordered and was told they would they would be in June 26. No call so on July 1 I called and was told the shoes would not be in until July 24. The place is run bad so I'm canceling my new card already. The place is run BAD, I had to at least get a 1 star on here but think that's too high. Shop another store! read more

I had a hair cut in the salon at this store and it was terrible. The girl didn't know what she was doing, she took 25 mins to show me that she'd done nothing and I asked her to cut my hair the way I asked. She then spent another 25 mins doing a very poor job, she cut my hair lopsided, apparently I'm not good enough to wet or wash my hair, she didn't make an effort to tidy up around the edges and after an hour of dealing with this I left. I'm never going back. I'd recommend you don't bother either. read more

When I got home, I peeled the price sticker from the tag and the original price of the bra was $19.00. Not so much of a great deal now. I saved all of $3.00.
