Lucky for me there was a big sign at the front door that said "90% off clearance sale". There were select items marked throughout the store that were on sale. The first rack I saw though was all designer items with really high prices and I thought maybe this wasn't the place for me as I am a thrifter and like to keep my fashion budget on the low side. I was pleasantly surprised with what I was able to find though. The gals that worked there were super helpful and answered the couple of questions that I had. I ended up with 5 items and I spent just $15 on those, what a deal! I will stop in again sometime to look as I had forgotten what was available in this store.

I recently ordered some hard-to-find shampoo on the JCPenney website and had it shipped to the…read morestore to avoid shipping charges that almost cost as much as the shampoo. I placed my order on Jan. 4 and didn't get my ready for pickup email until Jan. 15, which I thought was a little slow--but it wasn't something I needed urgently, so I let that slide. The ready for pickup email had a convenient link to allow me to choose between coming inside to pick up the item or using their curbside service. I decided to try curbside, pulled into one of their clearly-marked spaces in the parking lot (this area is in the large parking lot that is shared with Ulta, Red Robin, etc. - not on the other side of the building), and told them which space I was parked in. I waited about 10 minutes and then checked the web page I'd used to check in. There was an error in red that said "We're having some trouble, please continue to wait or try again later." I decided to just go inside to see if I could quickly grab my item, but the lines were really long, so I just left and went home. About 5 minutes later, I got a call from a JCP associate apologizing for not being able to get my item out to me more quickly. I wasn't able to run back over there, but I went back the next day and repeated the curbside process, and this time I had my item within minutes. Overall, I think this was a positive experience and think it's a good place to consider when you're shopping around for bargains--they often seem to have really good sales and coupons on top of those sales.

During our visit, I encountered an employee who was not wearing a name tag and was extremely rude and disrespectful toward my daughters. My daughters were checking out immediately after me, which is something I have been encouraging them to do because they are at an age where I feel it is important for them to learn independence and become comfortable handling simple responsibilities on their own. Unfortunately, instead of being patient and helpful, this employee spoke to them in a way that I found completely unacceptable. As a parent, it was very upsetting to watch someone treat my children this way when they were simply trying to complete their purchase. I understand that employees deal with many customers throughout the day, but there is no reason for a child to be treated disrespectfully, especially when they are making an effort to learn and become more independent. I have always enjoyed shopping at JCPenney and have had positive experiences with your staff in the past, which is why this interaction was particularly disappointing. I hope this matter can be addressed appropriately so that other customers, especially children, do not have a similar experience.

They will only offer a gift card while the website states otherwise. Their website says if you pay via PayPal you get a cash back. I called customer service and they want me to drop it off at a fed ex location. This issue was not rectified in a way that best suits the consumer. I'll never shop JD again.

What really stood out was the employees and overall customer service. It was a busy spring Saturday, and there were multiple sales associates working to service customers. They didn't hover, but they were there if you needed them, be it the dressing room or on the floor. At checkout, the associate signed me up for their free rewards program and used my first name when handing over my bag and thanking me for my business - a nice added touch.
