I needed to do some things in Indy last week and stopped at Castleton Mall. One of my favorite wild fashion stores is called "Akira". Always something there that surprises me. It is way in a corner space in the mall. Depending on where you enter the mall, it can be easy to find, but any other entrance it is kinda hidden at one of the ends and around a corner. You are getting close when you see Sally Beauty and a Diamond store. It is the largest Akira space I have ever seen. Usually they are in small spaces and really difficult to browse in. I hope my sample pictures have you check out this fashion store. he clothes are cheaply made, and if you order online, you can't return items in-store -- only for store credit. I wasn't aware of this when I ordered multiple sizes of a few skirts I liked, and returning them has been nearly impossible. There's no real customer service or way to reach a live person to resolve issues. I even received a defective item, but because it was on sale, they won't accept a return. Overall, a very frustrating experience. I won't be shopping here again due to the poor quality, restrictive policies, and lack of customer support. read more

Last week was my first time coming into the store Akira. It ended up being one of the best shopping experiences I've ever had! I came into the store looking for an outfit for my 21st birthday. When I walked into the store, employees were SO polite! It was pretty busy, but every employee was helping customers. About 2 minutes into walking in and looking around, the store manager named Jerron (sorry if that's not how you spell it!) came over and asked me if I needed any help finding something. I told him I was looking for an outfit for my 21st birthday, and he immediately asked me some questions relating to my style, what I was looking for/if I had any inspiration ideas, and asked me what size I thought I was in shirts/pants/shorts/dresses. After he got that information, he started picking out entire outfits for me!! I loved it, he was like my own personal stylist! I'm not going to lie, I was definitely being difficult! The poor man brought me sooooo many outfits, but I wasn't happy with how anything was fitting me. He was so nice and kept telling me that he would keep picking out clothes for me until I found the perfect birthday fit! Let me add that not only was he helping me and picking out TONS of different clothes for me, he was also doing the same for 2 other lovely ladies at the same time! The work ethic that Jerron has is amazing, you can tell he actually loves his job. I was probably in the store, taking up his time for upwards of 2 hours. I was on the brink of crying just because I was not loving how I looked in any outfits and had been there forever. He could tell I was getting distraught and was so sweet! He helped me the ENTIRE time until I found the outfit of my dreams:) He picked out something that I would have never tried on or picked myself, but man I am SO glad that he picked it out for me to try on! I had the best 21st birthday ever and got so many compliments on my outfit! I will definitely be back to get outfits for the summer. Thank you to the Akira crew:) read more

I don't know why this place has a low rating but Jad (receipt says Jadsyf) was so helpful and quick! She immediately assisted me and while I waited for her to return with my shoes - I believe her manager came over, asked if I needed help, I let her know who was helping me and she advised me I was in great hands! Great support and I love both pairs of boots I got! I'm glad I stopped by instead of ordering online! read more

I've traveled to the Akira in Merrillville, IN several times in the past 4 years. Ordered online from this clothing brand. I just recently found out there was a location at Greenwood Mall. I have shopped there twice in the last two months. So, I have experience with this brand. I'm use to Akira having great customer service. My first time at this location was a fail. The whole time I was there no one asked if I needed help. The store wasn't busy and there were employees just wondering around. Luckily I found one of the three items I came in the store for. The setup is generally the same as the others. The store looked clean. My advice is to look online first, so you will have an idea what your looking for. Happy Shopping! read more

Went to check out, lady asked for my email and phone number. I said no thank you. She told me I wasn't able to buy the items I wanted unless I give her my information. I then asked "I can't buy this without giving you my info" and she clarified for a second time that no I could not buy the items I wanted without giving it to her. I was with my mom, im 20, and after my mom told her I didn't want to share my info. THEN she let me buy my items. Whoever that was, lied to me. I was ab to walk out without buying what I wanted bc she told me I couldn't unless I gave me my name phone number email. Until my mom said something to her. I get the grind, I've worked in retail before. But I've never harassed someone to give me their info or refuse service to them, lying ab it too. But to tell a customer that u can't buy the items (which she was lying) without giving my name phone number and email. Is wrong. I won't be coming back. I've been her multiple times. And never had an issue like that. Sad bc I loved this store. read more

If you love being harassed and followed then this is the place for you. I literally had 4 different employees come up to me today and try to push random merchandise on me. *Akira, your trained sales tactics are so annoying: stop having employees come up to you with some fake compliment and to interrogate every detail of our life as if they're interested.* Everywhere I turn I'm being attacked by a sales associate. I had over $300 of dresses on my arm that I put back on the rack, just to get the heck out of there. Coming into this store gives me serious anxiety, I don't think I will go back. read more
