Recently an associate allowed me to look at a watch, it was one I really liked so I asked for a price. When she told me the price, I then informed her I would like to purchase the item, then she proceeded to tell me I could not pick the item up until the following Tuesday because the price she gave me was a sale price and couldn't be activated until that started, definitely not what I asked for. She tells me I will save with this sale price and they can take links out of the watch for a fit the day I pick it up.
The Tuesday arrives and I get there to pick up the watch. An associate comes over and asks me what I needed help with and I informed her I would like links removed from a watch and she tells me that they don't remove links from watches! I tell her I was told just a few days ago that I could bring it in for such service (I see the tool desk nearby as well). So she calls someone down and that was about a ten minute wait before she arrives to tell me no one removes links from watches because they don't want to damage the watch regardless if it was purchased from the store. So she proceeds to call someone ELSE over to see if they can take the watch links out and they tell me the SAME THING! I also ask one of these associates if I could pick up my watch while I wait. I provide my ticket and she says you can't pick the watch up until Friday or it will be full price. I then ask if I could receive any discounts applicable since the associate who wrote this up gave me the wrong information, they tell me nothing could be applied to make the watch less than full price on an early pickup and she also shows me a sign in large text which shows the date the sale starts taped to the SAME REGISTER I was ticketed for the watch at, so that shows she was only interested in making the sale. When someone was FINALLY able to remove the links, a manager walks over and says "Sir we don't take watch links out here, we tell our customers to go to a jewelry center within the mall to have it done and we reimburse you with the receipt" which is another outlandish statement to hear after someone just performed that service within the store! Needless to say I wasted about an hour of my morning to pretty much get nothing accomplished.
Then this past Friday arrives and I return to the store yet again, the original associate is working in the department, alone, that evening and appears to recognize me as I wait for my turn to be assisted. When I approach her, she asks me what did I need so I provide my ticket and she asks me would I like to pick the watch up today and I tell her I would since I was unable to pick it up on the Tuesday as she promised and she goes through the days of the week to ask me what happened Tuesday. She apologized so I try to move past the error, but when she returns with my watch, she sits it on the counter and tells me "thank you have a nice day" without asking me if I needed anything else. I tell her I would also need links removed from this watch as promised. I have a few of that brand and style of watches so I know I need a certain amount removed before it would fit. When I tell the associate this information, she tells me "No, I will not do that. I will start with two to see where it fits then." I then proceed to tell her that will not be enough so please remove the number I recommended so this can be finished efficiently. She asks me AGAIN if I want to start with two and I tell her AGAIN no it will not be enough. She then agrees to take out the number I suggested and allow me to try it on. She signals me from the repair desk to come try on the watch and when I put it on, it is still too many links in and the watch spun around my wrist with considerable room inside. I asked her how many links she took out of the watch and she asks "do you need more?" I again ask "how many links did you remove" and again my question was dodged. I ask one more time and she finally answers "just two" which is NOT what was agreed upon so I asked her to please remove the remaining amount that we had discussed and she seemed to begrudgingly oblige.
I return the following Sunday to inquire about this watch I had seen online. One of the associates from an earlier visit saw me and told the initial associate I had dealt with that I would like to look at a watch, and after an exchange I could not hear I guess she did not want to help me again. This other associate comes over and showed me the watch and gives a price significantly higher than what shows in the app. I then ask the associate if they honor prices on the app or website and I get a whole spiel about how some things may not be eligible to be matched based on what it was. I then produced coupon codes and provided my account information for my reward to be applied and still the price is not the same as it was online but only a few dollars more. I don't understand how a company can't price match their own merchandise sold on their own website! read more
