Yes, there are an array of personalities ranging from more introverted to more extroverted. I have recognized that when I note that I'm donating hair, they will pair me up with a more confident student. What I mean is that for the newer students or for those who are not quite confident in their skills, a trim gives them practice that can build their confidence. But when you are donating 12" and choose a choppy A-line as your inspiration, it's definitely NOT textbook, so I feel like this would overwhelm someone who is still learning the basics. Last night, I went in to donate 12" and Noelia was so amazing!! She listened to what I wanted and asked her instructor if what she was thinking was how it should be done. When Noelia became stumped, she asked her instructors for guidance and intently watched them and learned new techniques. I even heard one of the instructors say "Well, this is one of those times where we bend that hair rule." My hair looks amazing and when I asked Noelia how to style it like my inspo pic, she was patient and explained in detail how to attain the look. She not only is a bright student who can learn, retain, and execute what she learned, but she can also teach back, which is the best demonstration of how wonderful of a student she is. Shout out to the instructors too who are patient and also allow the students to not fear asking questions or for guidance. They are really cultivating wonderful hair artists. And.. if you're lucky enough that an instructor decides to have a creative streak adding finishing touches to your hair, you get to see a hair master with scissors. I am amazed at not only the talent, but the speed in how they accomplish it.

After my shampoo, I enjoyed sitting under their infrared drying system, which felt very relaxing and modern. My student stylist was guided by an instructor throughout the process, and together they did a beautiful job with my blowout and curls. My hairstyle came out gorgeous, and I'm very happy with the results. What stood out to me was how advanced and full-service the institute is. They offer competitive pricing while still providing quality care and modern techniques. They also offer many other services including silk presses, flat irons, braids, twists, scalp treatments, facials, spa services, and more. The atmosphere was welcoming, relaxing, and professional. I would definitely recommend Avalon Institute to others -- I already recommended it to my son!"

I was scheduled for a facial with extractions and a sugar body today 28 September 2017 at 5:30PM…read more I was there at 5:30PM and the student I was assigned to (Nanette) finally came to get me at about 5:43PM. I walked to a room with her and when I realized that it was not the correct room with the shower to rinse of the sugar scrub, I mentioned it to her. Nanette told me to go back out to the waiting area so she could prepare the other room for the sugar body scrub treatment. So about 6pm, she gets me and tells me that she is going to use the same room for the facial first. I informed her that the priority for me is the extraction, to get the pores cleaned out. Nanette starts telling me that she does not want to do "extractions" - she wants to do "eye lash extensions" and she tells me she is going to get another student who likes to do extractions.... about 8 minutes later (there is a clock right next to the door in the treatment room) she comes back and says the other student is busy with another client. I asked her if she is going to use the steamer to open the pores - Nanette says something like "steamers are outdated" and puts a small towel over my face.... she asked me if I used the "pore strips" before and I told her that the pores are not going to automatically become clean by placing pore strips on the nose/face. So after about two minutes she removes the towel and again leaves the room for about five minutes - after she returned, for about two minutes she does extractions on my nose. I told her that I normally go to Pickens Technical College, but the new students are not on the floor yet so I came to Xenon for the extraction facial. After a few minutes of her doing the extractions, she leaves and comes back with her instructor, "Nicole" By that time, I had been at Xenon for about 50 minutes and had about five minutes of "facial/extraction" - a towel on my face for about two minutes and about two or three minutes extractions. I was pretty obvious, as Nanette already told me before, she does not like to do facials or extractions, she likes to do "eye lash extensions" - it was clear to me that she did not want to do the facial and extractions. I told the instructor, "Nicole" that this was the most disorganized and ridicules experience I ever had - I told her that I had been at Xenon's before many times, but I never experience any treatment like this before. The instructor, Nicole, said we don't want to break your capillaries - I never heard anything like that before when I had asked for a facial with extractions! Clearly, the student, Nanette, did not feel like doing extractions and got her teacher to get her out of doing the facial with extractions! The instructor, Nicole, said "extractions are about 10 minutes and the facials is about one hour" - I told her that of the 45 minutes while I was there, I did not get to the room until about 6pm and during the time I was laying on the table, the student, Nanette, had already left the room three times, each time for about 5-8 minutes! The extraction time I had received by the student was about two to three minutes, plus about two minutes with a towel over my face! The teacher said "I think you are disrespectful to the student" - and I asked her if it is "not disrespectful for the student to leave the room three times and keeps telling me that she does not want to do facials and extractions, that she wants to do eye lash extensions" - and keeps leaving the room and trying to get another student to come and do the extractions. I told the instructor, Nicole, that I would like the name and contact information for the manager and that I would also contact corporate office about this kind of treatment. Clearly, by the other ONE STAR Yelp review left by another client, one can see that this place is going down the toilet. It seems, students only have to do treatments they like to do and when a client wants something different, the Esthetician just gets a teacher to bail the student out of doing what the client asked and is paying for! I have no idea how this place is staying in business! I NEVER experienced anything like this! STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT A FACIAL WITH EXTRACTIONS because the student esthetician "does not like to perform extraction facials!

I am writing to share my experience following a service appointment at this location. I received a…read moremale Brazilian and full butt wax yesterday, and my esthetician was Reagan. The service itself was performed well, and I was satisfied with the quality of the wax. However, the subsequent events have caused significant disappointment and lead me to strongly advise caution to other male clients. The day after my service, I was unexpectedly contacted by the manager and informed that I was banned from the establishment due to an "inappropriate conversation" with the esthetician. This notification was perplexing, as the conversation in question was initiated by the esthetician's small talk. During the service, Reagan asked about my weekend plans. When I initially mentioned that the plans were personal, she indicated that was acceptable. I then shared that my wife and I planned to visit The Scarlet Ranch, a known lifestyle club. As my wife and I are open about our lifestyle, I was willing to engage in general, surface-level discussion. Reagan continued to actively participate, asking multiple follow-up questions about the club's atmosphere, membership fees, types of events, and clientele. I was careful to keep my responses strictly professional and non-sexual, focusing on logistical and social aspects. At no point during this sustained conversation did the esthetician indicate that she felt uncomfortable or ask to change the subject. Therefore, receiving a call informing me I was banned--and being told by the manager that the conversation was "inappropriate to have while getting a male Brazilian"--was a significant surprise. It seems highly unprofessional to ban a paying customer without the service provider communicating any discomfort during the interaction. Feedback on Communication and Professionalism: For the management and staff: Professional protocol dictates that if a client's conversation makes a staff member uncomfortable, the staff member must clearly and politely redirect or end the topic of conversation. Customers cannot be expected to know a provider's boundaries, especially when the provider is actively engaging and asking follow-up questions. A simple, "I prefer to keep our conversation limited to the service," would have been sufficient and professional. This lack of professional communication has resulted in the loss of a repeat client and has created an unnecessarily unpleasant experience. I urge management to review their policies on staff interaction and boundary setting. Recommendation for Male Clients: Due to this experience, I do not recommend this establishment for males seeking a Brazilian wax. While the technique was good, the overall lack of staff maturity and professionalism in handling client conversations is concerning. Prospective clients might consider alternatives like European Wax Center for a lower-cost option. I hope this feedback leads to better communication practices so that other clients do not feel targeted or confused in the future.
