This place is fine, nothing fancy, and they file nails really way too hard (it's painful sometimes and I have a high pain tolerance). Anyway, they're cheap and usually do a good job so I went in to get my second dip powder manicure. My first one that I got here was really thick but it lasted and my nails grew nicely over 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. Just wanted to get it done again to keep them up. This time was *terrible*. Four nails are popping off only a week and a bit later (they started popping off after about 3 days, but it got really noticeable when I snagged my hair on them a couple of times!). So not only are they popping off now only a week and a half later, but when she was doing them, she didn't even ask if I wanted my nails trimmed (I didn't), she just started cutting them, so then I had to let her cut the rest to make them even. And then the filing, again, was too hard and painful. One nail even has a rough edge that didn't get coated properly. Stopped in with a friend with no appointment and was able to get two incredible pedicures! This is my first visit to JC Creative and I am sure I will be back next time my toes need a little TLC. The good: -very clean -great polish selection with TONS of options (I went with Lady in Red) -reasonable prices: $25 for a standard pedi -fantastic 5 minute leg/foot massage -comfy chairs -stopped in without an appointment but never felt like they were rushing -left with a great looking pedi! Currently just under a week and no chips. If you've been hunting for a new salon in the area, I think you'll like this spot. I found this place on Yelp after calling around to several surrounding spots that were booked (Sunday). I made an appointment or was told to come at 2p, rather. I came in shorty after 2 and used street parking. My first thought walking in was place has a funny smell. I'm willing to bet they recently had water damage of some sort because the smell lingered throughout. I wasn't seen until 2:45 but decided since I already waited it out, I should stay. Their colors are very limited. Though they have multiple options (acrylic, gel, dip, etc) the options were small within each section. I had my eye on yellow as a color was only able to find two yellows across brands. Overall the staff is nice and the service was adequate but, I would likely not return. I usually get my nails done in Manhattan but decided to go nearby on my day off. Terrible decision. My nails were moderately long and almond shape. I asked the manicurist to cut my nails shorter while maintaining an oval shape. She proceeded to cutting my nails very short and squared (instead of at an angle to maintain the shape). Trying to trust the process though confused she then proceeded to filing my nails, the finished product was very uneven and squared. I told her I asked for oval shaped nails, she yelled at me saying my nails are too short.... She completely did what she wanted to do without following my initial instructions and did not take accountability. She aggressively filed my nails still uneven on one side. At this point I was tired of repeating myself. At the very least I expected my nails to be even. She applied the nail polish like a 4 years old using their non dominant hands with polish all over my hands.My 2 week old, properly shaped nails looked soo much better. What a mess. This is the last time I will be going to this nail salon. I come for the SNS dip powder which they usually do pretty well. This time it was too chunky, and she made me bleed on my finger with one of her tools (no acknowledgement or apology for this whatsoever). Last year I went there for a pedicure and got an infection because they cut too deep. That should have been my last trip there. I booked a SNS mani and regular pedi online for $65 total, $68.90 with tax. She charged me $3 extra, saying the price on the website was outdated. Another $5 for tips and $5 for shape. Didn't feel good to know how much I paid for a sloppy manicure. I'm not giving them any more chances. Save your money and go elsewhere! read more

I should have known this place was horrible when it was Mother's Day and empty. However, I was hoping to get a decent place close to home due to the rain. I went in for a pedicure and to do acrylics with gel on top. The pedicure was okay. The women didn't ask if I wanted anything done special- even though the women next to me got offered everything. The massage chairs were weak and the foot massage was nothing special. Now the acrylics are pretty thin, but the polish they used on me is starting to yellow. I feel like they should consider getting new white polish and missing some spots which I should have noticed when I left. This is only day two and my nails look like they have been on for a week. I decided to just get a quick mani pedi, the price was cheap, but the paint job was just really not the best. I've been going to Creative Nails for over a year, but I'm pretty sure they are now under new ownership. Not a fan of the new staff. They had me do a manicure before my pedicure and then I had to roll up my pants-- no one helped me so obviously I messed up my nails and they said they look fine. I sighed a few times to get them to fix. The old staff is completely replaced and the new staff is not as attentive. I paid for callus remover as they had me pay before the pedicure and when I said please don't use the knife, just pumice ( the knives scare me) they got upset and argued with me. My first issue with this place is is that when I sat down to start the manicure, The nail tech said it would be an extra charge for shaping. Excuse me but what? So I don't know, I was looking for a spot that does SNS and read that only 2 or 3 spots in jersey city so then, I usually go somewhere else but have been wanting to check out this nail spot for a while , I finally went in and with tip spent about 50$. Yes they have a lot of colors to choose from however, they don't use the machine used to smooth out your nails, they only use a nail filer so my nails were kind of bumpy, I didn't realize until I walked out the store, so I turned around and walked back in so they can smooth it out. They fixed it but the following week the colors started to fade, one nail chipped and the top coat in other nails were coming off. I think that the girl who did my nails overall did a satisfactory job. I believe her name was christy or something with a c. However, she didn't cut or file my nails before adding tips. Every place I've gone to, has in fact, shorten my nails- except this place. Even when I asked about shortening the nail before applying tips she said it would be towards the end, maybe she got confused, maybe the salon just operates differently, I don't know. I'm super picky when it comes to my nails. There were a couple of times where she tried to leave a nail incorrectly shaped compared to what I showed her initially in a photo as reference. Regardless, I addressed the shape issue multiple times and every time she accommodated with a smile, which is great! I left with the nails I wanted, however this was after guiding the tech. It felt slightly rushed, quickest tip appliance I've experienced which isn't always a great thing especially when I like techs taking their time to make sure everything is right. Regardless I left with what I wanted and my nails haven't broken yet. I think the place overall is small but cute, very calm-like. I think that you need to have patience in a place like this if you're super picky specially if you're getting your acrylics done. If you have patience, & want your nails for an affordable price, then this place is for you. She removed my old polish, but did'nt soak my nails, clean under my nails with wood stick or push back the cuticles. She didn't even clip the cuticles. The technician said that would be more money. The gentleman who did my nails was professional, very nice, and maticulous. We had a reservation which I would recommend because it was a bit busy, but we had no wait. Where to begin? First off I never write reviews on Yelp, Google or any type of review sites so for me to take the time to do so now speaks volumes. I've been a loyal customer for the past two years, since the 1st week they opened. I was excited to see a new nail salon open up in my neighborhood close to my house that looked super clean and offered dip powder nails something that wasnt offered in many places. The owner is geniuely a very nice woman so I did feel bad telling her I wasnt coming going back to her salon and honestly feel a little bad having to write this review but I feel like other people should be warned. This place is always short staffed. I've had to come back numerous times to get nails redone or complain about nails looking/being filed uneven, nails filed to almost my skin, and having my cuticle cut. I should have listened to my boyfriend when he told me to stop going there but I kept telling him they always "fixed" whatever issues I had and I didnt have my options to choose from. Today was the last straw, I hadn't been here in more than 2 months because the owner went on vacation for 2 months and left other people running it in her absence. It was a disaster everytime I came in, wait time was anywhere from an hour to almost 2 hours. When it was finally your turn most of the "technicians" would just rush thru your manicure/acrylic because more people were walking thru there doors. All the technicians there dont do a very good job except for a newer girl named Michelle I think? Shes the only one who honestly takes the time to make sure your nails are a good shape and to your liking without rushing thru your manicure. The owner manicures are a hit or miss, when it's not crowded they're really really good, when its crowded the poorest and lowest quality you can think of, shell stop in between your manicures without asking to start someones pedicure or do someones eyebrows. They'll leave you soaking gel or sns for an hour and take people who have just walked in or have easier services. Super unprofessional and inconsiderate to do when I'm also trying to get my nails done. Today I went in and there was literally 2 "technician's" and 3 people waiting while the owner did a manicure and stopped to do a pedicure.... at the same time. I got my eyebrows done by another young lady there waited about 15 minutes and walked out. You would think that after my loyalty of two years a simple sorry or please come back to make it up to you was said. The owner let me walk out like it was my 1st time ever seeing me, I've spent hundreds at this place and they didnt even have the decency to apologize or give me an incentive to come back. You're providing a service to me, not the other way around. Needless to say I will never be back at JC Creative Nails, oh and btw they have no nail designs to choose from so not sure how or why they named themselves Creative Nail and how that was chosen. Good luck to whoever decides to come here, remember my post when youre disappointed. In the meantime I'll check out Cuteicles or make my way to Aldona Nails in Union City they're both a bit pricier but the quality and final product are way better. read more

How can they call themselves Creative Nails when they don't seem to have any knowledge of creative nails... no examples of art nails (and it's a huge trend right now, they should be aware of that)... it took 3 of them to figure out how to do a half-moon nail which is the most basic form of a creative nail. The glitter on my nails are applied so thick and is so bumpy and looks/feels like puffy paint from the early 90's... not a cute look when I need to look professional for work. Pro tip: the spa pedicure is not worth it. It includes 10 minutes massage and it was 9 minutes of the most lazy ineffective leg massage and finally I had to ask if they can do my feet still (weird). I spent $85 for cheesy looking gel manicure and mundane spa pedicure. With so many better places nearby, I will not be back. Nice people though, I feel bad writing this but it's been a few weeks and I am so annoyed at how much money I dropped and I have to look at this tacky nail job every day. read more

I am very happy with my experience here. My technician was very through and the price is very reasonable compared to Hoboken. I got an SNS (Dip/Powder) Manicure. I also appreciated that he did 3 layers of the powder. They have a large selection of colors which was nice too. $30 for gel manicure and $40 for SNS manicure. I've been coming to this salon for almost a year now and the quality of their service is great, as are their prices considering the area, however their scheduling is AWFUL. They don't truly take appointments. I always call in advance to schedule when I can come in for a gel fill (and sometimes a pedicure) and the lady on the phone always says that the time works. However, when I arrive on time for my appointment, I am often waiting at least 20 minutes to an hour plus. The management should really consider getting an appointment book to track appointments and avoid double booking their staff. If you have all the time in the world to wait- come here, you won't be disappointed by the service. Otherwise, your manicure "appointment" could take 2+ hours. I recommend someone to do their nails blind flooded then paying someone from this salon to do them. I use to come to Jc creative nails when they first opened a couple years ago, but stopped going because every time I would make an appointment I would be skipped for a walk in.I was pinched for time and couldn't drive to Edgewater to my normal nail place. This place is only a 10 min walk away from me so I didn't think twice about it. I actually removed my three week old gel(in the first picture) myself to save time. All I wanted was a almond shape gel mani and I ended up with this mess. My natural nails are completely distorted and I will most likely have to start fresh when I go back to my nails spot. Left almost an hour later with dry hands( I applied hand cream in the pictures) with more gel polish on my fingers than the actual nails. The nail tech tried to remove the polish on my skin after it set with three coats with a cuticle clipper. I am 100% sure it would have been less work if the nail tech actually tried to paint my whole nail. Bumpy with mixed matched nail length. This place changed $30 and my normal spot charges $35. which proves it is not about the price it's about the quality of the nail techs at a salon should have just went to my normal spot. read more

Updating my former review...while the staff are mostly very nice and friendly the manicures here simply do not last. I've done regular manicures, SNS manicures and gel manicures and they all end up chipping or cracking in someway within a week, even the gel. I'd taken a break and was getting my nails done at another salon, my natural nails had grown out so much and were long and strong. out of convenience i went to JC creative about a week ago for gel with a simple design ($50) not only did the design begin coming off the next day, my nails are breaking off and destroyed. The pedicures are ok depending on who you get but they're expensive for what you get. They also have a bad habit of starting multiple people at once and will go back and forth between customers.
