A proactive email letting me know Nestor is no longer employed would have been appreciated, rather than act like the guy never existed. I understand people move on, but a barber is sort of a personal experience and when you settle into a guy who knows how to do it great, it sucks trying to find someone new and start from scratch.

I wanted a change and wanted to do something with the hair I was parting with. I planned to donate 10 inches to Children with Hair Loss and then cut whatever else to make the remaining hair look good. I called the barber shop on a Saturday morning and spoke with the lady hairstylist there. She was friendly and helpful. I had told her my mission. I informed her that I had fairly thin hair and she was confident she could do what I wanted as long as I provided the supplies for the donation (a ziploc and some hair ties- nothing crazy). I brought a flexible tape measure as well just in case and that was appreciated as well. She measured, braided and cut off the hair I needed for the donation and then cut and styled the remaining hair into a beautiful long layered shoulder length bob. A bit edgier than other hair cuts I've had but I quickly became so excited about this new look and style. Very reasonable prices here! Just $20 for all of that! Note: come with showered, clean and dry hair and be prepared to be amazed. I look forward to coming back soon to maintain this new cut! Thank you Ruffolo's!

He then acted very unpleasant after I asked if he could use his cellphone to lookup a photo of a hairstyle I wanted. Then after that, he didn't even come close to giving me the haircut I showed him. It was obvious, he intentionally provided very poor attention to my request which was fairly simple. The female at the register with blonde hair had a very poor unpleasant bedside manor also. So we went back with a hint of trepidation, but everyone was so kind. Freddy took the time to talk to my son, he looked at the picture and asked questions to make sure everyone was on the same page. He did the best he could to clean up the cut, and my son left with a genuine smile. Luckily, hair grows quickly. The gist of my original review was that my son asked for something very specific (and attainable for his hair length and texture) and left with the worst haircut he's ever had in his life. The barber was slow, and not only was it not what he wanted, it wasn't even a good cut. It was choppy in all the wrong places. HOWEVER, all of our other visits have been perfectly fine. We were just unlucky that day, I guess. I really appreciate how the management went above and beyond to try to make up for the bad experience.

I don't want to tell you who gives the best haircut because she's always so busy and it's hard to get an appointment - but she deserves all the praise. So if you got get Masha. They're all fantastic but Masha can do a fade and a straight razor shave like she grew up in downtown Chicago. She makes me so damn handsome. Also, her sister Natasha works here too and she does an incredible pedicure. It's the perfect balance between luxury and price. I won't go anywhere else in the Northshore again.

It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I had talked to her before the appointment because I had a special occasion coming up and wanted my cut freshened up. I left the salon with something I absolutely did not want and was so upset. I called to tell Judith how I felt and was met with a cold unconcerned response. I thought I would never go back, but this spring Lilia came back, and I booked as soon as I could. My appointment was scheduled, although pretty far ahead as she was busy. I even put a deposit to hold it. Today I realized that my appointment was scheduled for tomorrow and I had not heard anything from the salon. I called to confirm and found out that again Lilia is not working. This time nobody bothered to call and tell me that my appointment had been cancelled nor offer me any alternative. If you cancel with them less that 24 hours, they charge a sizeable fee but seem to not give the same courtesy to their clients. I do not recommend this place. The stylists are good, but the owner has a big chip on her shoulder and has some questionable business practices. I contemplated not writing this updated review but changed my mind after this most recent incident. Consumers should be aware. Very disappointed.
