What better way to end a lovely evening with a lovely lady, but with a lovely view and some fantastic drinks? Holland, like the country, greeted us and set us up for the evening. Holland brought great energy, and was super welcoming. They even offered us drinks on the house for the engagement. Totally unexpected, and that just meant we had to have more than one round to make sure that we could appropriately tip and show our appreciation for the amazing hospitality! The drinks were great. She had the Late Summer Margarita, refreshing and sweeter. We shared the Thai Tea Banana Colada. Definitely the sweeter side, but couldn't pass up the opportunity. Very good, a little sweeter and a little heavier than I'd normally prefer. It met both of our preferences right in the middle. Compromise, right? There is a lot going on, the music fits the setting perfectly, and it has that energetic downtown Nashville feel that makes you want to hang around for a while. We had a great time walking around, checking everything out, and enjoying the atmosphere with our group. I also thought it was pretty cool seeing all of the Jelly Roll touches throughout the place. You can tell they wanted the bar to have its own personality instead of just feeling like another generic spot on Broadway. There was plenty to look at and the whole place had a fun vibe. We were in Nashville for a football game, but getting out with friends and checking out places like Goodnight Nashville ended up being a big part of what made the weekend so much fun. I ordered an El Carajillo, and it was really good! The horchata crème in it was SOOOO good and definitely the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the service issues continued. Jon Bon Jovi's place definitely had it going on. The setup is impressive, with live bands on the first and third floors, plenty of TVs on the fifth floor, and not one but two outdoor patios up top. The rooftop patios were a highlight--great views, lots of space, and a lively crowd. The vibe throughout was fun and welcoming, with friendly people everywhere. Drinks were reasonably priced, which is always a plus on Broadway. I also appreciated the elevators in the back on the first floor, making it easy to get around without climbing endless stairs. read more

If you've ever been to Broadway then you know what a freaking deal that is. We doubled back around 4pm on Saturday and went in to have said burger and beer combo. Cooked perfectly, seasoned well with great condiments and a buttery delicious bun. So good that I ordered another beer and burger combo (don't worry, I took a shuttle bus from the hotel, so I could drink like a hillbilly in a holler.) The music was good inside The Valentine, the band was soliciting tips quite regularly which I get because they play on their own dime and aren't paid by the bar.
