When I picked it up the next day, my bill came to $318.15 - much higher than I had expected. I paid it, but that night I started to think I had overpaid. I called them this morning to inquire about the bill. Stuart told me he charged me $95 to install the actual hd as it took him an hour to do as my computer not being a "tower" type model and he charged me $95 to setup my computer. The HD was $100 and tax was another $28.15. I am not a computer expert so I took his word for it. I also understand that businesses need to make money. Still bothered by the situation, I jumped on YouTube and found several videos where a computer very similar to mine was opened in less than 5 minutes. Given the HD can be installed in seconds, I appear to have been charged $95 for less than 15min of work and then $95 to install any software - something which requires time to install, but minimal actual labour. Needless-to-say I am not impressed with Click-a-Geek and will NEVER go back. Yes, it was my fault to not get a quote first which I do accept. I am posting this review to make you aware of my situation so that you make certain to ask for a quote before leaving your computer should you decide to do business with Click-A-Geek as it appears their honesty is greatly lacking.

My 12 year old Samsung laptop bit the dust. I took it to Dan (Arcola) to get his advice. He checked…read moreit and discovered that the hard drive was shot (no wonder after 12 years!) but he thought that he could retrieve most if not all of the data and install a new hard drive. Alternatively, I could buy a new computer. My data was very important to me so I elected to have Dan take a shot at it. The results far exceeded my expectation. He installed a new solid state hard drive, retrieved virtually all of my data from the old one and installed it on my new hard drive all for significantly less than the purchase of a new laptop. The old Samsung works better than new and I highly recommend Dan. He really knows his stuff! Ted C. West Kelowna
