Plastic caught up in two rolls.
    Phillip C.

Okay quality sod. The main issue with the sod is how tight the rolls are made with the machine. The last few inches of the rolls were rotten, or dead. Some of it has recovered but I will need to seed a lot of areas. Also had a large piece of plastic in two rolls that essentially cut them in two and they were only good for cutting in shapes. The PO also did not make clear which mix I received. Not the best sod but a good place to buy a pallet or two from if doing a large area.

Highly recommend JB Instant Lawn. They delivered to Issaquah on time. The driver was extremely friendly and fast. I didn't do my math correctly and was short 500 sq ft. Not to worry, I called them up the next morning at 7am and had a pallet of Pacific Northwest Sod in the back of my truck. The receptionist was super nice and helpful. They had the sod in my truck so fast. Less than 5 total minutes there. I highly recommend them. Thank you JB Instant Lawn!

    Dead Lawn in March

I had 8000 sq ft of JB instant lawn premium sod installed last Feb/March (2013). The new sod almost immediately had red thread appear. Contacted the installer and JB and was told to fertilize more. Followed their instructions for fertilizing and the lawn looked nice in Sept/October. Fertilized in November per JB lawns instructions. Come December, the lawn turned into a gray gloppy mess. It smelled like it was rotting. Called JB Instant lawn in Redmond, and the receptionist/secretary tried to dismiss my complaints by saying "everybody's lawn looks bad, it's the weather this year". After telling her that my lawn looked worse than others and was rotting, she relented and said she would have the local rep contact me. He did and came and looked at the lawn. Snow mold was what was the problem. Told us that it would come back. Also was quick to point out that the sod is only guaranteed for 48 hours..... It is not coming back and subsequent landscapers we have had out to help us with the lawn have told us it's a loss. Start over. This will cost me another $10k.... For a little more background, I did have sod placed in the same area in 2005 and that sod was fine and did well. The reason of replacing it was a utility project that completely tore up my yard, so it had to be replaced. My neighbors had their lawn replaced at the same time due to the same utility project and their lawn is fine. At this point it seems to me that JB Instant Lawn sold me turf that was weak or already had fungus mold in it. This is beyond belief.

Received fresh sod last week from commercial supplier due to JB not doing local deliveries from Covid. Sod is full of white lawn grubs.

I'm a firm believer that picking a tree is an event and you should never be afraid to venture outside your own neighborhood to get one! I have 2 rules: the tree MUST be real and MUST be from Washington state. So over the river (err... 520 bridge) and through the woods we go to The Gardens at Cottage Creek in Woodinville. It's on the corner of Avondale and NE 132nd St. We were greeted by the owner who is a tall lovely man with a quick smile and baby blue eyes that you could swim in. His dog is pretty cute too! He took the time to show us many, many trees and laid the keepers down so we could narrow our choices. Once we cruised the lot we went back and made our selections. The nursery also had wreaths and a small Fall/Winter plant selection. I've been here in the Spring/Summer and it is full of gorgeous plants and flowers. The hanging baskets are some of the best I have ever seen. I have it on good authority that the owner knows his plants and stocks quality merchandise (read: won't die next week). Seriously go bend his ear and buy some stuff! Now I'm going to go smell the piney goodness of my tree, water it and gaze upon it lovingly. It's not weird or anything.

Last visit I had, the self checkout person was being sassy for no reason. I did not ask for help and was taking my time and behind me I hear her loudly tell me "press check out"...." press card" and more. You could tell she hates her job and just wants to treat people like they are stupid or something. It was weird. I just ignored her and never turned around to look at her as not to give her bad attitude any attention. When leaving I saw she had brown hair with a long ponytail over 30. I really don't understand the micromanaging and taunting of customers here. Her behavior was off putting. Maybe avoid her at all costs if you run into this person or hopefully they put her somewhere not around customers as she can't handle it and this is coming from someone who worked customer service for years. Maybe some staff needs re training on customer service and friendliness? I would return when looking for a specific item but because some staff are rude I definitely will avoid the staff.

And props to their app--the store locator feature is like having GPS for your DIY ambitions. Now, asking for help? Total roulette. Sometimes you hit the jackpot and get someone who clearly used to be a contractor and can MacGyver their way through anything. Other times, it's a deer-in-headlights newbie, or--if the universe is really feeling cheeky--Grumpy Gus from aisle 14 who looks like he lost a bet just showing up to work. So if you already know what you need and don't mind navigating the orange maze solo, Home Depot's a solid choice. Just don't go in expecting a TED Talk on toilet flanges.
