I am leaving this review to caution anyone from working with JB Custom. I got a quote and was assured by the person who came out to my house that they would be respectful of my budget and would come up with a quote based on what services I needed prioritized. We agreed on a plan and budget, which included ripping up carpet and laying down LVP flooring, along with drywall repair, paint and installing fans in the bathrooms and repairing any drywall that was damaged as a result of that installation. Before the project started, I asked if the baseboards would need to be removed and was told no. During the process of ripping up the carpet, they did in fact have to remove the baseboards, which was not discussed with me, and I was told they would do their best to keep that extra expense "at cost" and "as close to our original quote as possible." Also, hardwood floors were discovered. I had a conversation with them about what it would mean to refinish the hardwood floors instead of laying LVP and I was told it would save me money. They sent me a "change order" for this, which was roughly $1000 less than my final balance due, so it seemed I was saving $1000. It was an ADDITIONAL 5k. This was not clarified for me until after that part of the project was finished. The entire scope of my project was not complete, because I had to ask them to stop working on the house due to already exceeding my budget, repeated delays, confusion about whether they were hiring an electrician for part of the project, and unfinished work. While I was waiting for clarification on the additional 5K charge, the owner reached out to me to have a conversation about the project - he left a voicemail which I returned. He never tried to call me again. After several conversations with JB, I was told they would refund the cost of the baseboard (their mistake) but they did not offer to make any other adjustments to my total due for work that was completed. I can only come to the conclusion that I was deliberately misled. I agreed to hire them because I wanted to get all of my projects completed at once to save time. I am left with unfinished work that exceeded my budget by a few thousand dollars, and at square one with my bathroom fans and and other finishing work that needs to be done. read more

After we awoke the Saturday before Christmas to the sound of a waterfall in our family room, after the plumber repairs, JB Custom was able to completely replace and finish our drywall ceiling in that week before Christmas. Not only was our family Christmas celebration saved but the quality of the repair was outstanding. We could not have been more pleased and do recommend JB Custom Drywall highly!!!!!! read more

Good for a small project, absolutely not qualified to manage a large project with multiple contractors. My major kitchen remodel (over $100k) was quoted to take 4-6 weeks and took SIX MONTHS. Luckily my boyfriend was home for a lot of the remodel because there was no project management and contractors would come over and ask him what they had to do as they had no direction, no oversight. They made very elementary errors that caused numerous project delays - cabinet shelves too long because they didn't account for the cabinet lighting or spice racks, cabinet door dropped and had to be completely remade, electric outlets not recessed after backsplash installed, toe kicks not nailed down, texture overspray all over window, can lights not flush with ceiling, contractors unaware of lock boxes when they arrive, just a mess. I called and emailed, trying to reach the owner, who never returned one call or email. You'd think with a large expensive remodel the owner would reach out when this much goes wrong. This company went from drywall only to now trying to handle major remodels and they are in way over their heads. I only gave this 2 stars because the end result is "good". read more

To be honest I didn't want to press any stars. The one start is more than they deserve. Jb custim came into our lives after a contractor my mother hired to do an addition in our home passed away. He was brought in as a friend of the deceased as someone we could trust and could help get us over the finish line. My mother sold her home and took the 120k she made from the sale to build the 680 square foot addition on to our home so we could help her care for my father who has a brain injury and at the time was in hospice care. JB customs quote to finish the work remaining was a little over 13,000. It seems like an enormous amount for what we had left to do but we were desperate. My mother took out a loan to cover the estimate. The money she originally had was lost to the deceased contractor.we spent weeks and weeks having people here and there come to the house and random times of the day, I, numerous times had to ask why they were doing certain things as I knew that wasn't how it should be done. The project Manager who showed up from time to time would take our concerns and tell us they would be made right but few were. after a completely exhausting experience and watching crappy work being dine, having our brand new floors scratched up, having our enite floor so uneven we had to hire an outside source to fix the threshold so my mother wouldn't kill herself. We finally agreed to be done . We wanted them and their mess and their horrible workmanship out of our house. Upon receipt of the remaining bill was an additional 10, 000. My mother wrote a letter detailing all of the things done wrong, or outright ruined at their hands . She enclosed an addition 4 k and said she wasn't willing to pay another dime as we now had to pay to fix what they screwed up. Jon called and acted as if this was the first he was hearing of any trouble. asked to come speak with us and show proof of bills he incurred during the project period. Well that da never came. He cashed her check and put a lien on my husband and my property for the additional almost 8k. Never came to see any of the work for himself. Or produced the receipts for supplies. We are now 2 years into a still UNFINISHED project. that thanks to the Lien we cannot refinance the property to take cash out to finish it. we can't sell it. My home of 22years is now an unfinished construction site. Thanks for nothing JB custom. He comes off as this kind caring hard working guy. He bankrupted my 80 year old mother and put her family who was trying to help care for her in a financial jail. He's a crook . I'm sadly starting to wonder if he's frien really is dead or if this is just a big scam the run. Sad. read more

The employees were very professional. They worked 2 weeks painting the hallways and doorways to 48 apartments. The paper, taping, etc was done to prevent any paint on the handrails and flooring. I would recommend JB Custom Drywall for painting and drywall. This is the second year that JBCD worked on the Jackson Creek Senior Apt complex. read more

We were in need of someone to patch our living room ceiling (holes from a new lighting configuration) and also some bigger cracks in various walls of our 1940s house. Saw that JB Custom did both patch and also interior painting so we decided to get a quote for not just that one ceiling, but other patching for the kitchen, living room, and entryway to upstairs hallway, and also painting of the walls and a LOT of woodwork for all of those rooms. The quote process was very easy (but detailed as to not miss anything). I was a little nervous because we were matching trim/wall colors that were originally done before we moved in, and the difference in trim between downstairs and upstairs is very subtle but would be very noticeable if not matched correctly. The project manager Olivia came to meet with me and I was immediately put at ease - it was obvious that she has a lot of experience and completely understood what I wanted. I also asked if they could repair some cracks in the molding around one of our new windows and paint the interior to match the trim (before it was a tiny bit off and it was killing me) - and she said absolutely. The team did a tremendous job - the ceiling that was patched looks brand new as if there was never any holes, the woodwork and trim looks absolutely perfect, and the painting is great. Very very pleased and will absolutely be using them again! read more

Jon quoted this job as a 1-2 week job but it took 4 weeks and is still not completed. Payment was requested without resolution of a punch list. Many dings, blemishes, and "over spray" of sprayed texture persist. One ding in the hallway wallboard was pointed out to Jon, Bill and at least 3 other people. Never was resolved. All I ever got was lip service and no follow through. Poor supervision of employees. Employees were going through the motions and lacked detail orientation. I lost complete confidence in management, as one owner said one thing and another owner said something else. Woodwork was to be "oiled" per Bill, but was never done. Employees came unprepared to work and did not have proper equipment. They had to borrow my vacuum cleaner and a ladder. Employees were asking me what they should be doing when they came to the house. Wood floors and carpets were not adequately protected. Employees were walking on my wood floor with wet boots on a rainy day. When I came home to see this, I pointed out that water on wood floors can do damage, they looked at me like I was from outer space. They did wipe up the water and lay down brown paper but only after I insisted. Truly an unprofessional job. I heard nothing but excuses from management. All of the issues that your company had (supervisor on vacation, other big jobs being done, lack of enough equipment, poor subs used, etc.) became my problem. Why did I pay almost $9,000 for a job that was, and still is, riddled with issues and problems. I try to give jobs to small, local businesses to support them in their growth and endeavors. Never again. I will now use only big companies that have a good reputation. I strongly advise that your management team sits down and discusses what and why things went so wrong. Company needs to get it's act together and show some responsibility, respect and professionalism read more
