So naturally we wanted to bring the grandkids here while we were visiting. The previous owner was Teri and she made it enjoyable to shop there. She would always engage her customers in conversation. Sweet Sweet Lady! The new owner is the polar opposite She was the rudest person I have met in Sainte Genevieve so far. OMG ! We tried talking with her and she literally just stared at us. So Rude. Everyone in the group noticed We kicked ourselves for spending our money in there. The candy is Stale, Marshmallow candy was rock hard, Just about broke a tooth on the Malt Balls SAD! Think twice before going in here She is not appreciative of the customers that come in and spend money in the shop. In reading all of the negative comments about Sweet Things it looks like everyone who goes in and gives negative reviews have dealt with the Owner that runs and operates this business, so it is her they are reviewing as being poor customer service.

We ordered an ice cream flight with five samples, perfect for sharing since we couldn't decide on just one of the many delicious flavors. The assortment of chocolates looked amazing too. Upstairs, you can stroll through a collection of antiques that add even more charm to the place. Last visit we got a special box together for a milestone birthday party - candy from the 40's. This visit, I snagged a box of candy cigarettes for a joke, lemonheads, sweet and sour charms sucker, and red-hot candy dots. The owner is super enthusiastic about candy, and really is the best to mix in with the customers. She is pretty cool. I knew the freeze-dried candy next door had moved somewhere else and on this visit the connection between the two spaces has been opened up and the cutest space is now occupying that side. I had no reason to come to this area, so this was ultimately a waste of gas. Upon googling, the shop owner does seem to announce closures on their FB, so check there before taking the drive. I do not use FB, so there was no way for me to see the announcement prior to the drive. I will not be going out of my way to shop here again.
